Loestrinfe 24 Continuous Bleeding (Top voted first)

Updated

I started taking LoestrinFe 24 about 3 weeks ago. For the first few days I noticed I was incredibly fatigued and that my migraines (I already have chronic migraines) were increasing in numbers and intensity. I skipped one pill because I wanted to discontinue use. I complained to my gyno about this and told him I didn't wish to keep up with the Loestrin and he told me to continue with the pill. Since then the bleeding has not stopped even though I have no missed a pill in the past 2 and a half weeks. Is there anything I can do to make this bleeding stop? I have NEVER had this problem with BC and I have to admit I'm pretty shocked my gyno would want me on a pill with so many issues.

I have severe migraine and was put on the lo loestrin. This seemed to be the only pill that has not affected my migraines in any way. I think that is an individual symptom that is personal to each person. I did have severe bleeding for the first 3 weeks and then it stopped. Now my periods are only a day or two. One warning I learned the hard way- I had a bad gallbladder and didn't know it before I started taking Loloestrin 6 months ago. Had emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder last month. It exacerbated the the illness so quickly. Don't ignore any odd symptoms. Always talk them over with your physician no matter how minor.

It doesn't cause these issues for everyone that uses it, but from the various posts we've had about it, it does appear to cause them more often than many of the other contraceptive pills on the market.

And the reason your doctor probably wanted you to continue is because it can be normal to experience these types of side effects for up to 3 months, when you first start a new hormonal contraceptive.

Since it is hormonal based, it can also cause headaches or affect the ones you are already experiencing.

However, at any point, when you aren't happy with a medication, it is your right to stop using it, even if it is going against medical advice. Since this isn't a life sustaining medication, the choice really is entirely up to you.

This doesn't mean that your doctor is obligated to prescribe you another option, that is also entirely up to them.

But, if it were me, I would discuss these problems with them and make sure they were aware that you'd prefer to use something else.

My 13 year old was put on this medication to manage her very severe menstrual cramps which were so debilitating. The Lo Loestrin has compounded the severe cramps (we never thought it could get worse) and she has had the break through bleeding non stop for 3 weeks! My poor baby! I'm at my wits end. She has stopped the Lo Loetrin and we are hoping the bleeding stops immediately so we can regroup to find a solution that works for her.

for some reason these really increased my migraines - daily - i get a dizziness, tingliness, and numbness feeling with them, too. I was on loestrin and tried loloestrin - i don't know why these increased my migraines but going back to loestrin.

I started taking the Lo Loestrin on 7/28/11 and on 7/29/11 i started having some light bleeding which increased to a normal menstruation and has not stopped yet. I really do not like this. One day it appears to be gone then here it comes again. That is not comfortable at all, not knowing when this unexpected flow will begin or stop. Has anyone found any solutions to this yet?
