Iodocaseine Plus Thiamine

Hello, I'm an Italian subscriber to your newsletter and I'm writing because of a peculiar problem that goes as follows. In my country there was a medication called AntiAdiposo that was a mixture of iodocasein and thiamine. It was on the market since approximately 40 years and, to the best of my knowledge, there was never a claimed problem about it. The drug was also really effective for at least a subcategory of people with problems of obesity and adiposity. But last October, this indespensable (for many) medication was taken off the market. Why should this be the case, I never understood. Someone at the regulatiry agency named EMEA claimed generic risks of hyperthyroidism and thireotoxicosis (spelling?). Now, all what I could find in the web is a Mexican product called Yodolactina that just contains iodacasein, but no thiamine. Is there anyone who knows of similar products available elsewhere? [Iodocasein in the prophylaxis of iodine deficiency in servicemen]

Abstract

To evaluate the efficiency of iodcasein in prophylaxis of iodine-deficient states in servicemen the following parameters were studied: iodine sufficiency determined by ioduria median; thyroid volume measured on the base of US data; functional state of hypothalamo-pituitary-thyroid system evaluated by blood level of thyroid hormone and free thyroxin; physical performance assessed by veloergometric test, auto-and-verbal memory and attention change-over. Iodine deficiency was initially detected in 88.9% (main group) and in 94.4% (control group). Ioduria median corresponded to iodine deficit of middle severity in both groups. After the initial examination the persons from the main group were given iodized bread during 9 months. The monitoring results have confirmed the efficiency of iodine prophylaxis with the use iodcasein.

This is really just a supplement. I cannot tell you why it was pulled from the market in your country, but you can usually purchase them separately.

You can see the information Rb posted and Thiamine is a B vitamin.

Aldo, have you tried checking the various supplement products on the market?

I am not in Italy, so I don't know what is sold in your stores there, but there are also many such products available to be ordered online.

A simple web search pulls up quite a few.

Thank you Verwon for your hints. However, I challenge you to find even just one supplement store on the web that sells iodocaseine. I have found just 1 that sells a product named Iodoral that's NOT iodocaseine, but a mixture of Iodine and Iodide. I even bought it for a pair of friends, but the first reports are that's just a waste of money. Finally, in my country all that you can find are kelp pills and they are a waste of money as well, as they also do not work at all. Please, if anyone knows any better, let me know: Aldo

Goodmorning, I'm looking too Iodocaseina + Thiamina (Antiadiposo) because no more available in Italy. I saw in Mexico is available Yodolactina (without Thiamina) but sold only in Mexico. No on line selling. Could you help anyone me to find out where to buy it? It's very very important for me.

However, be careful that a friend of mine purchased that product from this pharmacy and she told me that she was disappointed. Despite the fact that, on paper, each one of these iodolactina pills should be equivalent to 7 AntiAdiposo ones, (in terms of mg. of Iodine equivalent), my friend said that those pills had teh same effect of fresh water on her and on her chubby kid.
