How Long Does Methadone Stay In Your System For A Urine Test (Top voted first)

I just took two ten mg methadone pills. Will they be out by Thursday? I drink a lot of water. Please let me know soon as possible.

I don't know where these people get their information. I could go into this long explanation of the half life of a pill times 5, but I don't want to confuse anyone. Just remember this, the basic rule of thumb is 60 to 72 hours on everything, with the exception of methadone and marajuana. Methadone is about 6 days. So give yourself 7 days to be safe. Marajuana is anywhere from 3 days to 30, depending on the amount you use and if you are a regular user. For everything else, legal or illegal, you should be safe after 4 days, give yourself 5 days to be sure, don't mess with your freedom or your dr.'s appointment ! Water or any liquid will help flush your system, but don't drink a lot on the day of your test or it may dilute it and they will think your trying to hide something and fail you. Also be aware of of the detox juices, as most of them contain creatin, which most places test for. Probation will most likely fail you if you have creatin in your urine, or your urine is too dilute. So in short 72 hours minimum boys and girls!

Please! do NOT take this drug! Unless it is prescribed by a DR.
I am speaking from experience. Last July, they cut me off because I tested hot for weed. After 24 yrs on it, I went thru hell. Until, I found after months there was no relief. No sleep for weeks and no help from medical, until I began to lie and manipulate them to get my stuff. I am addicted and I don't want to be, but, have little choice! If you do not need it-AVOID opiates. Better to have some discomfort as opposed to a lifetime of "where are my meds" and going nuts when there are none.

If you haven't been taking it everyday, for a long period of time it should be gone in a few days. Find a test at the drug store before having some1 else test you.

I have been on 40 ml of oral methadone for 3 years I have to go in for a blood test soon and need to test clean can anyone give me a clear time limit of how long I need to give my body to get it out my system I have been cutting down and the last 3 days got down to 8 ml can I just stop and will I withdraw badly thankyou

You shouldn't tell them that. Xanax saved my life. My anxiety and panic attacks were so severe that I was a recluse, shut up in my room with the room darkened rocking and crying cause its like no other hell on earth you could imagine. I finally ended up in the ER 220/180 was my BP and they'd yelled crash cart stat. Gave me a 3mg shot of Ativan prescribed me 1mg Xanax 3 times a day and for the first time in MONTHS I slept. I slept for 2 days. Then the third day. I was able to leave my room no attacks. As I sit here's and write this I begin to tear up knowing how many years of my life I lost because they wouldn't give me a life changing medicine. Ya. I'll probably be a lifer on this medication but at least I have a life again. So for those that were on them and didn't wean off correctly don't speak for all of us please. I would probably have ended up in a mental hospital because a chemical imbalance that happened from a pregnancy.

Hey this is lanie and i have taken methadone bcuz of the half life and it was out of my system and that goes for any opiate some are in 2 days so i don't know way u are saying 6-7days to be out of ur body

It's all about bioavailability and half-life of the drug. Methadone can range, but typically has a bioavailability between 60-90%. Thus means that if you take 10mg, only 6-9mg are actually converted by your body into something useful (what they test for). Then, the half life means that half the metabolized medicine will be out of your system. So, say it's half-life is 24 hours, that means every 24 hours (approximately), half of what was taken is eliminated from the body (assuming 90% bioavailability).

Example: 10mg orally --> ~9mg bioavailable --> after 24 hours, half is left (~4.5mg) --> after the second 24 hours, you're left with approximately 2.25mg......and so on.

Of course, both bioavailability and half life are dependent on the person and their metabolism, sensitivity to the drug, length of use (methadone builds up reserves in fat cells for long term users).....

Lee, I understand your point about methadone and opiates but you over simplifying things. It's not as if there are only two options, suffer or get addicted. For those in real pain, you cannot say it's just "some discomfort", to blow off instead of using it responsibly. I'd like to be off all the opiates but when I am, my pain level shoots thru the roof and I become an invalid. No thanks sir, not thanks.

fact is 110mg is something to talk about for 4 years.question is how long has it taken you to come down from 110 to 3mg? if you have slowly come down and have been on 3mg for at least 30 days or more you should be just fine coming off a dose like that but arent you getting your dosses from a clinic?if so why dont u just talk to the doc about coming off. if ur getting off the street my best advice is if you have come down from 110 to 3mg BRAVO DARLING!!!! GOOD JOB! NOW GET OFF THIS NASTY CRAP AND STAY CLEAN!!!! if you are using anything else this might contribute to why u have been able to come down without feeling annything.be honest with yourself about your use.I AM NOT A DOCTOR!! I TAKE METHADONE AND HAVE FOR 10 YEARS AND work in a clinic as a counselor for 5years.i currently am not with a clinic but i do know what i am talking about.fact is methadone affects and metabolizes in everyones body differently,so you might be lucky that the meds have metabolized out faster than the normal person. i have heard methadone staying in someones body up to 2years,that is a hair sample,sorry for up to 2years after last dose but fact is methadone lives in the fatty cells in our body so it tends to linger in the normal persons body body a bit longer.so you may be off of it but you should pee a urine test clean after 7 to 10 days after using.hair test i would say the norm is 60 to 90 days but can be shorter. depends on how long you used and how much of a dose. there is an exact formula that a doctor/physicist gave on this site. if i can find it i will send it to you. hope i helped and didnt confuse you. feel free to email me. {edited for privacy}. if you understand.

Wow I've been there and I totally know! Yeah Xanax, ativan(which they finally prescribed to me 2mg as needed no more than 3x per day which I'm off now and only take zoloft) colonapin and Valium are all benzoa and are a miracle drug for those of us who were bed riddin and couldn't stand sit sleep stay awake or anything. Those of us jaw clenching teeth grinding sweating heart racing and lost weight due to severe anxiety panic disorder .... yes these drugs are good for you if u have it this bad.

I have switched from methadone to suboxone. That was a month ago. I am still testing positive for methadone. It can be up to 45 to 90 days depending on how long you were taking it.
