False Negative Oxycodone Drug Screen Result

I have been on oxycodone 30 mg 4 times a day for about 10 years or more. Recently my pain management doctor did a urine drug screen. I take the prescribed dose faithfully, but the day I got my urine screen done was a day that I only had a half left which is 15 mg. I took it approximately an hour or so before my appointment to get my new script. The doctor dropped me as a patient because he said my urine drug screen was only "faintly positive" for the drug he said. I took all 4 of my prescribed 30 mg all the days before that though. I just don"t understand how this happened! I need a doctor and my meds for my back! I drink Red Bulls and I took Motrin for a couple days and I also took Amoxicillin for an abcessed tooth a few days before my test. Can any of these factors alter my test results and cover up the oxycodone in any way??? I need help because I need to find another doctor now and I'm probably going to have a hard time getting one because they probably think I don't take my meds. I need my meds and I take them as prescribed, how could this happen?

I feel for you and I also have been going to a pain management doctor for years, however due to experience I know for a fact oxycodone leaves your system quickly usually within 1 or 2 days after your last dose depending on how your body processes it. Also keep in mind even though you took that 15 mg it takes time to process through your liver and into your urine - taking it an hour before did not give the medication enough time. My suggestion is try to make another appointment with your doctor and explain how bad your pain is and explain that you always take your medication etc. When I first started pain management years ago I had nerve root irritation from a disc injection which was EXCRUCIATING pain so I took more medication than I should have and ran out a day early. When I got urine tested it came up negative and boy did my doctor yell at me even thought I tried to explain why I needed to take more. One thing ive learned from Pain Management is BE HONEST with your doctor - if he catches you lying or suspects something isn't right he will not keep you on as a patient.

Urine tested positive for Methadone. How is that possible if I have never taken it? I take Nucynta 75 mg . 4 a day. Also Lortab after surgery, Hydroxizine 25mg and Zoloft.Dr. said he didn't want to see me dead like Micheal Jackson, this is all through pain management.

I normally take Oxycodone I.M. 10 m.g. for pain associated with M.S. and many other things. This past weekend I was in the E.R. passing a kidney stone so the kind doctors gave me morphine and hydrocodone for pain besides the oxycodone. Yet Monday morning when I was subjected to a drug screen I showed no chemicals in my urine. How is this possible?

I'm going through the same thing. I got a false negative test back and I'm afraid they are going to stop my meds.

i take norcos 10. on my urine test i com out negative, i swear i took my meds so they started swab testing me. Swab test for opiate, cocaine, benzo, cannab, methamp, bupren. wen i take my 4 pills a day i com out positive, wen i take one i come out positive. I took two instead of my normal 4 and came out negative. I know when im going to be testes, i would not NOT take it. But still i came out negative now i have to dispute and convince doctors and the court. I always believe the tests to be wrong. but i ask for a copy of the test. everything is perfect. so it has to be me. Years ago i went through this same problem at a doctors office and she accused me of not taking my meds. when i took it in front of her and still came out negative the next day. She said ohh you must be a genotype metamolizer. Now i never bother looking into that till now faing my third negative on my test so plaese ask your doctor on your metabolic genotype test. your body might be metabolizing certain meds faster then others. Doctors are not aware or knowledgeable on this. thanks JMe

I drink at least 5-6 regular bottles of h2I daily to help my liver and colon process all the chemicals out of my body. I take oxy 10 3 a day and one 8/2 mg sub and several others some for pain and then for other issues. I've come up negative. Dr. said all the water is flushing system. Plus I take various supplements like cranberry and folic acid. I'm fortunate he knows I'm taking mine and trusts me. I told him to take a hair follicle rest if he wants. Good luck

Don't be surprised if they insist on you doing just that. Be careful what you ask for because eventually between the DEA and your pharmacy, the continued prescribing of multiple controlled dangerous substances may put his liberal prescribing tendency on the front burner to the DEA. That's not to say your pain isn't severe. I'm sure that it is, but in today's restrictive anti-opiate environment these prescribers are under increasing pressure to opt for interventional methodology or non opiate/opioid drug therapy.
