My cardiologist wants to put me on the drug eliquis 5mg 2x daily for AFIB, plus the drug metoprolol ER succinate for HBP. I would like to read patients results, mostly positive and good, after or while taking these drugs. I am 84 yrs young and with few exceptions have been prescribed drugs (example- anti-biotics) in my lifetime - not even an aspirin, so I am quite concerned about these drugs especially since I've read so many negative verging on horror stories regarding Eliquis. ## I've been on Eliquis for over a year for DVT & PE. I can't say enough good things about it. I'm sure your doctor is good & has checked your kidney function before determining your dose. I experienced headaches and upset stomach when I first started taking it, but they were mild & d...

Sorry this wont be too detailed, it neednt be. This stuff sounds crazy dangerous! People (sheeple) dont forget that remark that Eli Rothschild made shortly before he passed away; yes there is a human culling happening, yes he's aware and proud, there's no other option that makes sense.(his words) So just reminding everyone... You don't have to choose such an horribly painful and vile way to present your throat to the almighty sword of population control... Give me a forgotten ripcord pull during my skydiving session any day! (I bet 95% odds that admins won't post this comment, if you're reading this, cheers to the site admins with the very rare courage!) Thank-you,

I have been on Eliquis since November 2015 for aa A Fib attack. I am experiencing extreme hair loss, with some areas that are bald and others that are quickly thinning and at this rate will also be bald. I am a female and used to have enough hair for 3 people. I also have the leg weakness and stiffness issue. I am more freaked by the balding than anything else. ## Hello, Mary Lou! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. It isn't a listed side effect reported by the FDA, but it has been reported by other users, primarily females. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Have you consulted your doctor? It might be better for you to try a different medication. ## The other side effects are not a problem. ...

Have been on Eliquis for about 4 weeks as a result of an AFib event and ER visit, turning into a week hospital stay. Terrible side effects. I sway between teeth-chattering coldness to profuse heat and sweating. My bedding is soaked through every night. But, worse of all is this funky medicinal body odor that I can't escape, even with 3-4 baths/showers a day. It's so disgusting that it makes me sick to my stomach. Also have awful metallic taste in mouth, so all food or drink tastes terrible. Along with the fatigue, insomnia, memory problems, these effects are making this drug intolerable for me. I haven't read of others having the body smell though. Is anyone else experiencing this? ## I also am trying to determine the source of body odor since I started taking Eliquis along ...

Can I take Septra while on Eliquis? I have been on Eliquis for six months. I take 2.5 mg Eliquis twice a day. I have the flu bug now & my doctor put me on Septra. Is there a problem taking this antibiotic while taking Eliquis? ## I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but Septra is an antibiotic that is used to treat, or prevent bacterial infections. It will not do anything to treat the flu, since it is caused by a virus. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, non-allergic skin rash, and headache. Are you feeling any better?

I was diagnosed with a blood clot in my leg after foot surgery a couple weeks, i am on Eliquis. I started my period 24 hours ago and it is so heavy with tons of huge clots that it's making me really nervous. I have had so many "accidents" in less than 24 hours than i usually do in 6 cycles. I went through a thick heavy flow overnight pad in 4 hours. All through the night i had to get up and go to the bathroom every 45 minutes which didn't leave time for much sleep, I'm nervous to fall asleep for more than an hour or two at a time. Is this normal, I'm only 37. ## Yes, Eliquis can cause you to bleed more and experience more clots, during your menstrual cycle, according to FDA warnings. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, and headache. However, it is best to ...

I am not able to tolerate many meds. Cardiologist had me try all the anticoagulants and all gave me terrible side effects. I've a very understanding electrophisiologist and we decided on an ablation. Post ablation he convinced me to try eliquis. I had the joint pain and GI upset that others have reported but also had burning skin. Doc said it was not a reported side effect but he had two other patients who also complained of burning skin. He advised me to stop the eliquis and said he would report it to the FDA. I have no more A-Fib after the successful ablation and am doing fine on a low dose aspirin daily. Wondering if anyone else had the burning sensation while on eliquis. I am so thankful to have a doctor who listens to his patients. ## Hello, Henrie! How are you doing? I'm v...

I got a DVT blood clot resulting from a severe ankle injury 7almost months ago. I had a procedure to clear up the problem. Also, I was on eliquis for six months. Two and a half weeks ago I got an ultrasound and my doctor said it was cleared up and time to get off the eliquis. He told me to take 325mg of asprin in the morning for the next six months witch I have been doing. The pain I had in the back of my knee and in my quadricept muscle is back with a vengeance. Is this normal? ## It is hard to say, it could be rebound effects from stopping the Eliquis, according to NIH studies, but there is also a chance you may have developed another clot. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? What type of procedure was done? Are you on any other medications?

I have been taking Apixiban for PE's for nearly 2 years now thinking that it was great as Warfarin was unreliable and had to have too many blood tests. I am 56 and have now put on a lot of weight but didn't realise that this drug can cause this. My lifestyle hasn't changed very much so I couldn't understand why I was putting on weight. Also at night when sleeping my arm on the opposite side of how I'm sleeping also goes numb and I wonder if this can have anything to do with the drug too. Is there an alternative as I really am feeling depressed about my weight?

Hi I recently broke my hip, I'm 25 and have been given eliquis to take. It's been 6 weeks now and I'm experiencing my hair start to thin and fall out including my eyelashes. Does anyone know how long it takes to grow back or how long after stopping taking it, your hair stops falling out. At 25 losing my hair is pretty distraught, I could deal with the constant insomnia, low blood pressure and nausea but not this. ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to NIH reports. Are you also taking any others? I have had that happen from medications in the past, so I understand how upsetting it is. You should probably talk to your doctor about trying a different medication.

Just started taking eliquis, Is there a blood test to check and see if the medicine is doing what it is supposed to be doing as far as the right dosage and if the clotting factor working well. Have had a history of Dr's in legs and lungs. Could not get warfarin regulated. ## While it is not required as frequently as if you were taking Warfarin, your doctor should still check your INR every few months to keep track of how well it is working for you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased risk of bleeding. How are you doing? Has there been any change, or further testing?

began taking Eliquis in May after an AFib episode. After about 2 weeks I began experiencing what feels like habitual anxiety and muscle problems. Am currently experiencing headaches, being light headed and dizzy. I had several times initially when taking the medication when I thought I was going to have a blackout. ## Hello, Tessa! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problems you've had. Those can be side effect of Eliquis, many have complained about similar problems. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Have you consulted your doctor? You may need to switch to a different medication. ## I have suffered from the side effects of Eliquis after a slipped disc that required surgery. My lower back is in pain, and I have a ge...

Since starting Eliquis about 2 months ago I have painful circulation problems in my feet when first getting up in the morning which last sometimes several hours. I am 77 years old so not sure if this is just an aging issue, but it didn't exist before Eliquis. I had been on 325 mg aspirin for about 9 years with no problems for permanent Afib. My cardiologists say that because of my age and being female I should be on an anticoagulant to be more protected against stroke. I know these work different on blood thinning than aspirin did and wonder if my body is not adjusting to the different mechanism. Next step may be to see a vascular specialist. ## I am very sorry about the problems that you are having, but can you please post back and be more specific as to the pain you are having due...

Since I started taking Eliquis I find it very hard to sleep. Is anyone experiencing the same problem? ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to NIH reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. How long have you been taking it? It may take a few weeks for such side effects to go away, once your body gets used to the medication. Are you on any other medications?

When taking Eliquis as an alternative to Warfarin, I was bleeding from nose, kidneys and bowels with black stools and copious bleeding from a slight scratch. Also easy bruising with purple bruise marks. I have now stopped taking this medication and all bleeding stopped, but there is a lingering effect of purple bruising. Will I ever recover from this? Fortunately I have had no other major side effects but I shall never take this medication again. Far from preventing stroke from a blood clot, I believe that there is an increased chance of a stroke from bleeding in the brain I urge extreme caution about this medication. ## It has been known to cause these issues in some people that take it, according to NIH reports. It may take awhile for the bruising to go away, they can sometimes linger ...

I take Eliquis. Side effects: I have Periphial neuropathy, thinning hair atrophy of mucus in arms, weak legs, depression, insomnia, bad balance, bruise easily, dry skin, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stiffness in morning, pain in legs in the morning. ## According to FDA reports, it has been known to cause some of these symptoms as side effects, such as the pain, high blood pressure, and easy bruising, but not most of the others. Are you on any other medications? How long have you been taking it? It's really impossible to say how any given medication will actually affect anyone that tries it, since we are all different.

I've been taking eliquis for a couple days now. I feel that my menstrual cycle is too heavy, it was already irregular how long should I expect this to last? I've been put on eliquis because of the birth control I was on I can no longer be on it, because it was causing blood clots the eliquis is a blood thinner for the blood clots how long should I expect this to go on? ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to NIH reports, and it may persist for the duration of the time you are taking it. It has been known to cause heavier bleeding in menstruating women, it may also cause headache, nausea, and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications? How heavy is the bleeding? Have you consulted your doctor? You may need to try a different medication. What cont...

I have been taking eliquis for 4 mos, because of a clot in my leg. I have recently been diagnosed as having heterzygous, I went to a hemotologist and he told me to just discontinue the medication, i want to know if this is safe? I also have mitral valve prolapse. ## would like to get an answer to the question i posted for safety of the drug eliquis and abruptly stopping it. thank you. ## Hello, Pearl! How are you? Yes, doctors often do have patients do that with this medication, it is sometimes used for just short-term treatment. However, if you are concerned about stopping it, perhaps you should go speak to him about it, again, to make sure? You are also free to get a second opinion from another doctor, if you'd like. I am to take 5 mg at 8 am and 8 pm. I forgot 8 am one until noon so I took it then. When do I take the 8 pm dose? Also, how soon after the pm dose may I take 2 Tylenol PM? ## Hi Judi - Can you please write back with what drug you are taking at 8 am and 8 pm?
