can eliquis cause this? I have ruled out the other meds I am taking. no cateracts either ## Hello, Jo! How are you? It would be best to have it checked out, because according to the FDA, this medication has been known to cause someone to start developing cataracts, or bleeding in the eye. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and easy bruising. What other medications do you take?

I just started taking eliquis after getting PE after surgery. I was feeling OK at the beginning but a week later I'm noticing my asked hurt a lot now could this be a side effect?? ## I'm sorry that's my ankle. Not my ask. ## Hi angellepaine, Sorry to hear about your ankle hurting. It sounds to me like you may have to get it checked out by your doctor in order to know for certain what the underlying issue is. However, I did read on NIH.gov that "muscle hemorrhage" was a possible adverse effect of Eliquis, listed under the category of "musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders" at: nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=e9481622. Not saying that this is necessarily what happened to any degree, but perhaps it's worth looking into just to be on the safe si...

My doctor is now putting me on Eliquis I wanted to know if anyone had any hair loss or heavy cycles on eliquis? ## Hello, Monet! How are you? I've been on Eliquis for a year now and have severe fatigue. I cannot make it to work a full week. Most weekends I sleep. ## Have you spoken to your doctor about the problem? There are other medications you can try. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. ## Yes, I have talked to my dr. Waitin to hear back. Thank you.

I take 2 ELIQUIS tablets a day. One @ breakfast @ one @ 8 p.m. I would like to know if I can take Instaflex Advanced without any problems. ## Hello, Sally! How are you? You should check with your doctor, before taking it. It may not be safe for you to do so, since one of the ingredients in this supplement is Resveratrol, which may also cause blood thinning. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Eliquis as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Is there anything else I can help with?

My memory is not too good now. Will taking eliquis cause more memory loss? ## Hello, Miyzie! How are you? No, I don't see it listed among the side effects reported by the FDA, they usually include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Nor have any other uses reported it, so far. Can anyone that's on it chime in?

I'm 57 and had lone afib. It occurred 5 times in 5 years. They have done a cryoablation 4.5 months ago. I've worn the monitor now for 3 weeks and debt it back. Overt the last 2 weeks I called my doctor 4 times and never gotten a call back. Eliquis, in just the last 2 months has caused me memory problems, very bad knee pain, BP had gone from around 125/ 70 to 145/80. Feeling very tired and lethargic. Weight gain, and the latest protien in urine. Since it was just spared to be for 3 months and I can't even talk to the office to make an appointment, just the answering service, today I'm switching over to aspirin ## Hello, Giss! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. Many people have had problems with Eliquis and quite a few people have ha...

I have Afib and was on warfarin for 5 years. Got tired of keeping up with Vit K so went on Zarelto. My fingers on my right hand after about a week swelled up and hurt and so did my right arm. I called doctor and he put me on Eliquis, I've got no better, infact now it's in my left hand too. Anyone had any problems with joints swelling with Eliquis. I could use information on how long this swelling will last after getting off either of those drugs. Thanks so much Belle ## Hello, Belle! How are you doing? Has there been any improvement, yet? That's not something listed among the typical side effects, according to the FDA. It has been known to cause edema, but usually of the feet and ankles. Many people have had it cause severe joint pain, which forced them to switch to a differ...

Hi I am having knee surgery on the 28th and my pcp has eliquiss 2.5 mg but only has enough for one week and I need two. otherwise I have to do coumadin and I really don't want to have the blood draws. anyone out there know how I can get the other week since my insurance won't cover it ## , Ruth! How are you? Your doctor can actually go to their website to print a card for you that will give you a full 30 day free trial of this medication. The FDA classifies Eliquis as an anticoagulant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, easy bruising and increased risk of bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

Since starting Eliquis two weeks ago I have been gaining weight and experiencing extreme tiredness. I discontinued Coumadin, after three tears for a PE as it was not able to be regulated. Any thoughts ? ## Hello, Dennis! How are you? Those are typical side effects of Eliquis, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. There have been quite a few posts about it. Sadly, no medications are side effect free. However, they do tend to be transient and should taper off, once your body gets used to the medication, which may take about 4 to 6 weeks. If they don't, then you should speak to your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

I understand that there are many side effects of Eliquis. My 41 year old husband has been on Pradaxa in the past and had severe side effects. The dr. has pleaded with him to stick to this one for at least three months, as it is very difficult to get his INR right with Coumadin. What can we do to get some relief from the joint pain? My heart is breaking he is in so much pain. (We're trying heating pad and staying off his feet--right now pain is in his ankles, earlier in the week, it was his knees). ## Hello, Denise! How is your husband doing? That has been a very common complaint from people taking Eliquis and is a known side effect of it, as listed by the FDA. He may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and easy bruising. Typical side effects tend to taper off, after about 4 ...

I use to have occasional back muscle spasms about twic a year that would last about 3 or 4 days. I started taking quid for AFib in April. Now I am having severe muscle spasms in my back every 2 weeks and they last up to 8 days. I have also developed numbness in the bottom of my left foot. Can this be caused by the eliquis ## Hello, Dorothy! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. Yes, it could be due to the Eliquis, many people taking it have complained about similar issues. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and increased risk of bleeding. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? Are you on any other medications? ## Dorothy, try gabapenten for your foot problem. Talk to your doc and that drug elliquis get rid of it .That drug is gar...

I am to receive an epadureal amd the doctor wants me to stop yaking the drug four days before the procedure. Is this safe? ## Hi John, According to an 'important warning' from the US National Library of Medicine, apparently the risk of having a blood clot form in or around your spine (that could cause you to become paralyzed) is increased if you have an epidural while taking blood thinning medications such as Apixaban (Eliquis). Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a613032.html This is probably why your doctor wants you to stop taking Eliquis several days before hand, to ensure that this risk factor is minimized as much as possible. Although I would still encourage you to discuss it in more detail with him/her before undergoing the procedure just to be on the safe side. Ho...

I have had PE and am factor V Leiden. I used xarelto for six months but it made me suffer anxiety and breathlessness and depression, stiffness in joints. I swapped to eloquis and found the side effects are not so extreme but still there... Memory problems, joint pain , slight headaches and tiredness. Warfarin is sounding good ! Have heard about a herbal product called nattokinase that should be researched by drug companies. Sounds like a winner. Natural and no side effects. As I am 61 I would like to use something that I can use and stay healthy on! ## Hello, Caren! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problems you've had. However, all medications carry the risk of causing side effects, even natural herbal products. The difference is that since they've not been studie...

I have severe lactose intolerance and I have been taking eliquis for 6 weeks. I have developed eextreme chest and upper abdomen pain......I was also, for abrief time, on verapamil 240 mg. EKG and doc says not a heart issue. Any thoughts on this? ## Hello, Hummingbird! How are you? I am very sorry that you're so miserable, that's terrible. It sounds like it might be causing an acidity problem, most medications can do that. What have you tried for alleviating it? Those symptoms tend to occur with GERD. Eliquis has been known to cause some gastrointestinal bleeding, which leads me to suspect that it can cause severe internal irritation and possibly erosion. Other side effects may include dizziness, skin rash, headache, confusion and fainting. What type of doctor are you consulting?...

My mother has been on Eliquis for several months. Lately she complains of leg muscles that get tired and she can not walk. She is alo having dizziness and can't sleep. She is 86 and has afib. ## Hi Connie, Sorry to hear about your mother's condition. Based on my research, the drug monograph for Eliquis (apixaban) does list "dizziness" as well as "swelling or joint pain" as possible side effects. Has she reported experiencing any type of pain when her legs get tired from walking? The FDA actually recommends telling your doctor if you have any kind of side effect(s) that bother you or do not go away. So that sounds like it may be her best bet when it comes to taking the next step for assistance in the matter. Perhaps the doctor may suggest trying something else and...

I experienced extreme muscle and joint pain while taking Eliquis I reported this problem to my doctor and the nurse told me to tolerate the pain (can you imagine!?). I contact the pharmaceutical company and was told that join pain can, especially the knees, can suggest internal bleeding in that area. Needless to say I stop taking it immediately. The Doctor has put me on Xarelto. After a month's use I'm plagued the same problems. They now want to put me on coumadine. Hope that works for me ## Hello, Olivia! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. Yes, joint pain might be due to bleeding, but that's very rare. In most cases, it's just a side effect and, for many people, will taper off after about 4 to 6 weeks. If there are no signs associ...

I switched from taking Xarelto for the past 1.5 years to Eliquis. Been on two tabs/day for the past two weeks and this am woke up with two very red eyes. Any body else have that happen? Not sure it's even from the Eliquis but it's a good guess for now. ## Hi Carolann, Did your eyes feel like they were really dry when you first woke up? Maybe this medication dehydrates you quicker than usual? I don't if that's the case, but if so, you may just have to drink more water on a regular basis to help counteract it. Would you describe it as the same type of "red eyes" one might get after indulging in cannabis? What I find interesting when I look at the side effect profile, is that they list "red urine as well as red stool", but not "red eyes" Lol. However...

can i take Instaflex while taking Eliquis a blood for Afib ## Hello, Linda! How are you? I'm sorry, but since the Instaflex is just a supplement, it has not been tested for possible interactions with actual prescription drugs. Have you tried asking your pharmacist? They may know more. Are you on any other medications? Do you have any other medical conditions?

I have tingling in my face and arms, a burning sensation on the bottom of my feet, no energy, a bloated feeling in my stomach area. Has anyone experienced any of the above using eliquis? ## Since this is still relatively new to the market in the U.S., there isn't a lot of side effect information available, yet. What I'd suggest is contacting your doctor to see if they know more, they'd be the best person to help you. Learn more Eliquis details here.
