Current Adderall Generic Manufacturers For June 2017? (Top voted first)

Updated

Tomorrow I should be filling a script for 30 mg Adderall IR tablets, but I am nervous about getting stuck with a subpar generic. What are the current generic manufacturers as of this month? My only option with my insurance is to fill at Rite Aid or CVS - which generic do they commonly carry? I appreciate your help!

Wow! Why do we all have to go through this every month?? The anxiety I get every time I go to refill my RX is horrible! Always wondering "what will it be this time?? Same old junk? New junk? or something that actually WORKS?!" Until maybe 2 years ago (possibly longer) I was taking the TEVA orange footballs (30 mg x 2 per day). They were fantastic, no complaints! Then my pharmacy (CVS) started getting the pink Corepharma brand. I noticed a BIG difference but that was the only brand I could get around my area from either CVS, Stop & Shop or Rite Aid. They ALL suddenly had Corepharma. So I've been tolerating them ever since...until a year ago in April when I received a new kid...thought "hey maybe these will work"... WRONG! They were the MYLAN brand and I had a HORRIBLE experience! I ended up calling my doctor in tears out of frustration + overwhelming depression that started about 6-7 days after I took the MYLAN.. before that by day 4 or 5 I started having terrible SCARY short-term memory loss, felt very sad + lethargic, always wanted to take a nap. The day I called my doctor, I couldnt even get out of bed! I was so depressed and lethargic! Thank god my doctor gave me a new prescription so it was back to the "meh" Corepharma again but anything was better than MYLAN...now this month I received Aurobodino brand... thought "ok let's see what happens this time".. and sure enough - they are NOT working! Not nearly as bad as MYLAN but after 5-6 days, I'd notice barley any affect after my first dose, was ready to take my 2nd dose 2-3 hours after the first... then as of 2 days ago I started to experience SCARY short term memory loss again! Very similar to what I experienced with MYLAN. That is why I'm up right now searching for any info/answers or help on what to do!! I am going to call my doctor in the morning but I'm scared to try anything else! I remember I received Sandoz once about a year or a year and a half ago and they worked well! But someone posted earlier saying Sandoz was terrible! I know we're all different but has anyone has any problems RECENTLY (in the past 3 months or less) with Sandoz? My next option would be Corepharma but then someone said they stopped mfg generic Adderall?? Then more recent posts said they just received Corepharma brand?! And I've read several complaints about TEVA (orange footballs) saying that they do NOT work like they used to so I guess I can cross those off the list! WTF IS GOING ON AND WHY DO WE HAVE TO SUFFER LIKE THIS??!! SOMEONE PLEASE STEP IN AND HELP!!! p.s. I raised a complain on the MYLAN brand on the FDA website but didn't have the Lot number. I actually received a letter from MYLAN about 6 months later stating they were taking this seriously but could not provide any info because I didn't provide the lot number....

Spoke with corepharma this morning. They no longer manufacture amphetamine salts. Limited to Sandoz, barr/teva, and a few others now. I was just switched to Aurobindo. IT IS AWFUL. It feels narcotic, makes my add worse, and is inconsistent at best in strength.

Sandoz has reformulated their generic Adderall lately. I take the 20mg and this last batch is the worst yet. Not only are they ineffective, but they make me feel inpatient, overwhelmed, and like I want to jump off the nearest bridge. They're like a cheap caffeine pill. I've noticed I've also started burning when I pee. It's ridiculous people are having to go through this all because greedy pharmaceutical companies outsource production and apparently don't care about the quality of their medications. This is such a rip-off, complete scam-job from the pharmaceutical companies.

Being that we all react/respond differently to not only the active ingredients, but fillers as well, I think in order to really determine what works best for you (despite reviews from others) is to try each generic option for yourself. What one person thinks is effective may be ineffective for you depending on possible sensitivities to various binders/fillers, tolerance, etc...

Furthermore, different Rite Aid stores or CVS may carry different manufacturer's products based on their location or what may be "the flavor of the month" (i.e. the cheapest thing they can get at that time).

Once you find a manufacturer you prefer, I would just see if your doctor would be willing to specify that company's name on the prescription itself come time for a refill. This way the pharmacist will have to fill it according to the doctor's orders.

who told you this. My7/5 prescription from CVS came froe Corelabs. It does not say they are discontinuing on their website. If they are do they give an explanation why discontinuing. I want to know source of the original compounds /and all ingredients that go into the pill Too many complaints from too many manufacturers since last year Why only some getting recalls? FDA needs to investigate. I save samples from batches I will find lab to test and everyone should do the same. Pharmaceutical companies not to be trusted. I wonder if non generics having these problems and if the 1% with best insurance get the best drugs I don't even know if my insurance pays for brand already my generic doubled in price this year

I just posted that CVS is now dispensing TEVA. The pill is more stable than CorePharma (does not crumble into powder) but still not effective. Nothing like what was manufactured previously. I wish someone could have a pill analyzed. Pharmacies insist that there's no change in the formulation but that's not true. IR does not take effect for several hours. Take it and fall back asleep.

The worst are corepharma's bright pink round pills. CVS buys them at the cheapest rate. Mylan aren't bad with their peach round MA20, but most swear by Sandoz and Barr/teva.

I just got my adderall filled yesterday at CVS. In February, Walmart (where I used to go) didn’t have enough to fill my prescription so I went to CVS and noticed it was different from what I had ever taken. I always went to Walmart and I always got the same generic brand - TEVA. Anyway, when CVS filled it in February I got the generic - Corepharma and I haven’t been back to Walmart since then! Corepharma works great for me but everyone is different. One more thing, a few people (on this site) were saying things like, Corepharma doesn’t make a generic adderall anymore and another said that Corepharma shut down and it doesn’t exist anymore?? I don’t know anything about that but I do know that I picked up my Corepharma adderall yesterday.

Thank you all for the helpful replies. My local CVS has been distributing Corepharma, which Rite Aid used to distribute, and I never had an issue with them in the past, but I definitely felt like something was "off" with my last fill. Will be filling again at CVS this week, wondering if they will be leftover stock from Corepharma or not..

I hope you are right that Corepharma no longer making amphetamine salts as CVS in NYC said that is the supplier and had no plans on changing. They do not work at all. Some just crumbled. Where to address complaints? Insurance company? What company made the ones that were recalled last year and did they address the problem?

What is it about the Corepharma tablets you don't like? I just recently started Adderall again and they've been Corepharma the entire time, but they make me SO anxious to the point I'd rather not take them. Adderall never made me anxious like this in the past, so I can't tell if I just don't respond like I used to .. or if it has to do with the manufacturer.

Maybe the active ingredient is being switched at it's source, so all brands may be receiving bad ingredients to start

I'm on generic Adderal 20 mg. 3x per day. My experience is that Core Pharma was the worst. I gave them a two month try, then called my doctor. At the next appointment he suggested I contact local pharmacies and ask which generic brand they carried. I did and found that Walgreens carried Teva. For ME they work the best and most consistently. Recently I transferred my prescriptions to CVS because my work hours are varied and Walgreens changed their pharmacy hours from 24 hours M-F and to midnight. And very short weekend hours. I get a paper script monthly at my appointment for the generic adderall so I can have that filled anywhere. But I thought I might as well fill it at CVS. HUGE MISTAKE. They are round and pinkish with U31 marking. I didn't notice much until the second or third day. Then it hit. No energy, legs like lead. Jittery ..and the WORST depression I have felt in years. I became labile at work and closed my office door. I have a friend who is also on Adderal generic so I called her and asked if she had every had these pills. She said yes and would never take them again. She remembered the depression the most vividly. They are not Cor Pharma. They are made by a company I had never heard of, Aurofill? I am calling my doctor Monday since I just filled them to see if I can exchange them if I give the doctor the remaining pills, and see if she can write a new script for teva generic, or just a new script which I can take to Walgreens. I'm also switching my other meds back to Walgreens. I forgot how nasty and slow CVS was. My advice don't fill adderall generic at CVS.

I'm having a problem with my meds too....I hate feeling like this. Every time I go to the drug store and they mess up and give me what I told them I CANNOT take, they give it to me and tell me it's the same thing. All generics ARE NOT the same. My prescription even says to not give me Teva because of the adverse reaction. They gave my Mylan and I was like, "What the hell, I'll give them a try." BAD mistake. I'm exhausted all the time, cannot focus, and I keep having panic attacks...I hate feeling this way. The pharmacy acts as if we're drug seeking if we ask for anything than what they give us. I have to have aurobindo because that's the only thing that works. I have inattentive type ADD and they dont understand.

Re: LIBBY (# 13) Expand Referenced Message

I agree. I had a Dr. once tell me that all generic components have to be the same in percentage of effective ingredients. Since I have been on generic adderall for 15 years I completely disagree. I have used every generic from Corepharma,Teva,Sandoz, and many more, and each one proves to be different in their effectiveness- some better, some worse than others. It is truly frustrating to be at the mercy of these underperforming pharmaceutical companies, who are only in the business of making HUGE profits at the expense of people’s health and well being. Actually it is shameful. To the scientists in these labs I ask- how can you go to sleep at night knowing that you’re causing real harm to people?

CorePharma has stopped mfg -Epic Pharma picked up the ANDA from them but won't start mfg new batches until Oct/Nov so still got Corepharma from CVS. I spoke with Anthony at customer service at Epic and he took note of my complaints - the pills degrade very quickly within weeks or faster if experience a heatwave. The coating just dissolves, then before you know it cannot read the lettering- Pills swell turn color.I have put newest batch in a vacuum tight container to see if that helps. This problem is in addition to my feeling that not as potent even when no degrading. I have not found information that formulation has changed prior to Corepharma starting to mfg. They said they have not changed formula . Would appreciate feedback if anyone else is experiencing pills degrading from summer heat Recommendied storage is up to 77 degrees F but some websites say up to 86 degrees won't harm efficacy

Re: fromnyc (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

I take adderall 20 mg tablets for severe hypersomnia. The brand that worked best for me was round pink ones from Core and pharmacy ordered them in for me. When they discontinued this brand for aurobindo which are worthless I had difficulty finding the core. I finally telephoned CorePharma and was told, to my distress, the only adderall they currently manufacture is the extended release.

My doctor does the same. "NO Teva Brand" right on my script. I'll never take Teva Adderall again.
