I have cellulittes in left ancle and leg is cephalexin 500 mg what I need ## Hi Flonnie, Based on my research Cephalexin is actually regarded as one of the recommended drugs for treating Cellulitis in it's early stages. From what I could gather, the usual adult dose of Cephalexin (in the treatment of Cellulitis), is 500mgs orally every 6 hours, for up to 7-10 days. Depending on how severe each individual case is, other more powerful antibiotics may also be recommended, such as Vancomycin, Daptomycin, or Linezolid. I hope this helps to answer your question! ## cephalexin 500 mg is a green capsule with the number 219 on it. hope this helps

Are cephalexin green and red capsules the same? ## The same as what, exactly? There is a green and red Cephalexin capsule that has the marking SQUIBB 181 on it and it contains 250mgs of Cephalexin. So, if you are asking about the dosage, then no, because it only contains half the dosage of the 500mg capsules. Cephalexin is an antibiotic and may cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea. ## Pill identity please. Could this be cephalexin 250 mg... It's a bright pink oval tablet with AT250 on one side and >> on the flip side. ## Diego - did you start another thread about this? Regardless, what you are describing appears to be Azithromycin 250 mg manufactured in Canada. This is also an antibiotic, but different than Cephalexin.

Can cephalexin cure chlamitia and can you take it if your allergic to anything ending in cillin? ## Hello, Cori! How are you? Cephalexin is generally not among the first choice treatments, since there are other antibiotics that are known to work faster to treat it. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, it may work, but you should only take it, if it has been prescribed to treat it by your doctor. And yes, it is in a different antibiotic class, but that doesn't necessary mean that you may not be allergic to it, as well. Usually those who are allergic to one medication have a higher risk of finding they allergic to others. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have a serious vaginal itch and when I scratch it I get sores. I also have vaginal discharge. Please, can I use cephalexin to treat it? If not, what can I use? ## Hello, Baby! How are you? Cephalexin is an antibiotic, so it can be used to treat some STIs, if your doctor approves. However, if you've not seen your doctor, then it would be best to do so, to get a proper diagnosis, so they can prescribe the correct antibiotic. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. What color is the discharge? Since you're also itching, you could have a yeast infection and, if so, an antibiotic may make it worse. You'd need to take an antifungal medication to treat it.

Hi my name Sonia I have been taking g ibilex for a few days on it 4 times a day I have been feeling tried over a few days and have a lot of gas from my stomach I'm on it for a burn on my arm ## Hello, Sonia! How are you? The FDA lists this medication as containing the antibiotic Cephalexin, so those can be normal side effects of it. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea, but these effects should go away a week or so, after you complete your course of treatment. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have infection in my mouth due to a hole in my teeth can I take this meds ## Hello, Keshia! How are you? The FDA classifies Cephalexin as an antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections, so you can take it, as long as your doctor or dentist have said it's appropriate. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, trying to diagnose and treat it on your own isn't a good idea, you may not have enough of the antibiotic to fully eradicate the infection, it might be the wrong one and you'll still need to tooth repaired, or the infection will keep returning. Is there anything else I can help with?

My 6 month old cat got ahold of one of my wife's 500 mg cephalexin pill, I had noticed him playing with it and chased him down to grab it, by the time I got it it was pretty chewed up and no powder was left on it, should I call a vet right away? I know cephalexin is prescribed in both humans and animals but not sure the amount he injested. Thanks ## Hello, Jeremy! How is your cat? Did he suffer any adverse effects? Even a cat, however, can't really overdose on an antibiotic, unless he was allergic or ate quite a few of the tablets. He may experience more side effects, though, such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness and diarrhea. Did you consult your veterinarian?

Could i give my one and a half dog (64pounds)KLX 141 Pill - cephalexin 500 mg - to treat his pneumonia and if so for how many days ## @Xexa, According to colostate.edu, Cephalexin tablets, capsules, or liquid are usually prescribed for dogs to take orally 2-3 times daily. However the exact dosage and duration of treatment is best determined by a licensed vet who can evaluate the dog in person. Upon doing so, the vet can also decide if Cephalexin is appropriate over other potential antibiotics/treatment options (that may be safer in so far as possible side effects). Cephalexin itself is a very powerful drug (even for humans), so I just think it's wise to play it safe and seek additional feedback from a vet before following through with treatment on your own accord. Hope this helps!
