I did a urine test to enter the military and it came back positive. I am not a drug user but I was on Cephalexin for a sinus infection a week or so before testing. I am perplexed??? Could the Cephalexin caused a false/positive test? Thank you ## I am assuming they sent the urine to a lab for a GC/MS test or was it a rapid screening test? What drug did they say was positive?? It's possible that cephalexin could cause a false positive but if they did a GC/MS test it's not likely. When ever I get these questions I always ask if the donor was asked to sign a chain of custody form because it is possible they could have mixed up your specimen with some other person's at the lab. Did they seal the specimen container and did you have to put your initials on it?? If not ask for a ret...

I am taking 500mg of Cephalexin for Mastitis. One doc said 4x a day for a week. Pharmacist said 2x a day for 2 weeks. Does it matter? Due to nausea I would rather take 2x a day for a longer period. I had ibelex many times before this time and after my first cephalexin tablet I felt quite ill: Sweating, scratching, very red all over. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. What was your diagnosis? Who told you it was an antihistamine?

I just found lupin 500 in the bedroom of a young man that was staying at my house. Could he have been using it to feel high? ## Hi Pat - Based on what you have described it sounds like you found a LUPIN 500 capsule. Fortunately this is not a drug that would be abused. It is Cephalexin 500 mg, which is an antibiotic. The word LUPIN simply refers to the manufacturer's name, not the drug itself. The NDC code for this drug is 68180-122, and here is a photo for your reference: Hope this helps!

Will cephalexin cure pink eye along with erythromycin ointment? The ointment does not seem to be clearing it up so I was wondering if I took cephalexin along with using the ointment if it would help? ## If the ointment isn't helping, you may need to return to your doctor, because not all pink eye is caused by bacteria, there is also a viral form and an allergic form, if you have one of those 2, then antibiotics will not help, according to the NIH. If it is viral, it will eventually clear up on its own, in most cases and if it is allergic, you may need an allergy medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm going back to my dr today for eye drops. Ointment isn't working.

I have left over cephalexin 500mg from 5/21/15. It expired 5/17/16 and I really would like to know if I can still take them? ## They do not become dangerous, once expired, but they do start to lose effectiveness so they may not work as well to eradicate infectious bacteria. I have cephalexin 500 mg from the year11/19/14 is it still good as I have no insurance. Can I still use it ## Hello, Elizabeth! How are you? If it is a pharmacy supplied bottle, or a container other than the original factory sealed one, then it expires on year from when it was dispensed to you, as noted by the FDA. It is Saturday night and My female K-9 has uncontrolled urination and last time this occurred about a year ago the Vet prescribed Cephalexin 500mg. I have Rx of AMOX-CLAV875 125MG, can I use this in place of the Cephalexin until I can get her to the Vet on Monday? ## Hi Zoie, Sorry to hear about the urinary incontinence. I hope your canine is doing better today. According to NIH, there was a time when amoxicillin was once routinely used to treat UTI's and bladder infections. However, due to strain resistance and higher recurrence rates than other available treatment options, amoxicillin is no longer the recommended first line treatment. On the other hand further reports suggest that it may still be used in cases where there is documented urine culture susceptibility. Source: ncbi.nl...
