All doctors have prescribed me to take 1 antibiotic 4 times a day, but another doctor said to take 2 tablets twice a day. Does it matter how you take them? Which method has the best effect? ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? It is consistent dosing that's important, you have to keep it in your system at a consistent regular level, in order for it to eradicate the bacteria. So, you can take it, either way, whichever works best for you, but keep the timing as precise as possible. If you take 2 of them twice a day, keep them as close to 12 hours apart as possible; or if you take it 4 times a day, keep them as close to 6 hours apart as possible. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anythin...

I chipped my front tooth a while back and now it is killing me. I have taken any and everything I could think of but nothing works. I do have the antibiotic cephalexin but still nothing. ## Hello, Tamika! How are you? How long did you take the antibiotic? It usually requires 7 to 10 days, though you should get some relief in after 3 days of dosing. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, the only long-term solution is to see your dentist and have the problem corrected. Even if the antibiotic clears up any infection that's present, it will just keep returning, if you don't have the tooth taken care of. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have very bad teeth. I have missing tee...

My wife was prescribed Cephalexin for a stye and I was wondering since it is an antibiotic, whether it is okay for her to be out in the sun? I could not find anything on the included drug label insert specifically mentioning sun exposure risks, but I thought I would check seeing as how other antibiotics are known to increase sensitivity to sunlight. Any feedback appreciated. The weather's been real nice and we've been wanting to spend time outdoors and at swimming pools. ## Cephalexin should not cause an increased sensitivity to sunlight (there is no mention of a concern or interaction from the NIH or Medline Plus). There are other antibiotics which are known to increase photosensitivity, and those are: doxycycline, tetracycline, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, ofloxacin, trimethop...

what STD can be treated with A43 500mg ## A43 500mg (Cephalexin) is not used to treat any STD's. It is usually used to treat bacterial infections (pneumonia, bone, ear, skin, urinary tract infections). The wrong antibiotics could possibly make it worse and lead to a stronger infection. I don't know which STD you are referring to, but I did find information stating that: Cefixime, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, ceftriaxone, azithromycin, spectinomycin are the preferred and alternative drugs used for gonorrhea. Not sure about the other STD's. If anything, I think your best option would be going to your primary care physician and have him or her decide what will be most effective for the type of STD you are referring to. I hope this helps! ## can Cephalexin be used for a severe toot...

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Have you started taking it, yet? Are you on any other medications?

I took one 500 mg capsule of Cephalexin for an ear infection, a couple of hours after taking it I had stomach cramps and very bad diarrhea, Im not taking anymore of this drug, I would rather deal with the ear ache. Has anybody else had this problem?? ## Those can be typical side effects of this medication, according to the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, and non-allergic skin rash.... however, an infection that is left to continue raging out of control could be fatal, while the medication side effects will eventually go away, with time, once you finish your course of treatment. Alternatively, you could also speak to your doctor about trying a different antibiotic, if you find this one is making you too miserable. How are you feeling, now? Has there been any change?
