Cannot Find A Pharmacy To Fill Oxycodone 30mg Near Detroit, Mi...help Please?
(Newest replies first)

Updated

My husband received a script of Oxycodone 30 mg a few weeks ago from his surgeon and I cannot find a pharmacy to get them filled at. They mostly say they do not carry them or they are on back order. I have called everywhere. Any suggestions? Anyone know a pharmacy that carries it? Thanks in advance.

I read the DEA mandates and controls how many pills are manufactured. I'm looking for the article and will post when I find. No, I did read that and haven't lost my mind-yet. I'm wondering if the drug manufacturer can be contacted and asked what pharmacy will dispense their product to the public. just a thought.

Re: PharmD DOCTOR of pharmacy (# 37) Expand Referenced Message

HAHAHA - You clearly have a superiority complex. When you say "pharmacist" please be specific about which person you are referring to at the counter as you should know there are different positions inside of the pharmacy, techs, pharm assist etc. It's very rare that a new pharmacist, new tech etc will be consulted by a doctor unless that doctor is an *****. You must feel special but a good doctor would have the education and knowledge to know how to treat his/her patients without consulting a pharmacy...does he not have colleagues at his own level he can consult? My doctor is one of the top doctors in my township and highly despises the way the pharmacies are making calls to him trying to argue with him until he eventually puts them in their place and they shut the f*** up as you should do. If you want to be a doctor then go back to school and study to be a doctor and quit acting like one because you work in the healthcare field. That's like saying "I am a legal secretary but I have just as much authority to represent my clients in court as my boss, the REAL attorney". You people make me sick.

If Walgreens is out, you need to find a hospital that has an outpatient pharmacy. They always carry pain medicine. They have to have it on hand for patients.
Unfortunately, most pharmacies will not tell you on the phone.

Dalcoma Pharmacy off M59 and Canal Road, I believe it's Sterling Heights but it could be Shelby Township and they also deliver for free. They specialize in pain meds however they do sell all of my prescription needs. Awesome Pharmacy, the best.

You're not a doctor nor do you have the education it takes to be one. Furthermore you should educate yourself. Most of us coming to the pharmacy to fill a script are not filling to sell. If you were a doctor, you would know that is why they do random drug panels to make sure we are taking our meds. Maybe if more of you narrow minded pharmacists had experienced it personally, you would have more compassion.

I have been to every Walgreens on the east side, darn near, as well as St John's hospital and can't get my script filled for my 30 milligram Oxycodone. And the one place that did have some wanted to give me only 90 where as I get prescribed 120?!?! Where can I fill my prescription at?

They normally won't tell you over the phone if they have it. They don't want to get robbed. It's ridiculous, but I have chronic pain and am used to being treated like a criminal. When you're in pain that's what you feel like doing is driving all over to fill a script... Walgreen is the only drugstore I know of that carries it, but if you have a hospital that has an outpatient pharmacy, they will have it for sure. Good luck.

All Walgreen stores in my area carries them. (Oakland county, MI).
If you're not near Walgreens, check which hospitals have a pharmacy open to public. Hospitals have to carry most pain meds. That's what I do when my Walgreens is out

I have figured a way around finding 30mg oxycodone ir tabs. This problem arose the first time I got a script for the 30mg tabs. He's a pain mgmt Dr and writes probably 100 scripts a day and 99% of pharmacies won't fill his. But he has a deal with Walgreen's and they fill all his scripts. I'm on Fentanyl 75mcg/h and oxy 15mg 2 tabs 3 times a day thereby getting around the 30mg problem. Do I'm on 30mg 3x a day, plus my fentanyl. Walmart usually has 10 and 20mg tabs only (here in Hawai'i). The Walgreen's carries 10, 15 and 20mg tabs. CVS won't fill any oxy scripts over here. Sometimes if u go to a pharmacy either near a hospital or drs office bldg , you'll have better luck finding what you need. But do NOT expect to find the 30s anywhere. Do the 2 15mg way. Much easier. Good luck. Aloha

I'm sorry. You clearly don't have a clue. Until you've had chronic pain, you should keep your opinion to yourself. You are not a doctor and you sound like the ignorant people who we all come in contact with when we're just trying to fill a prescription. A prescription written by a neurologist specializing in pain. If you knew what you were talking about you would know they require most to see them once a month, with random U/A's. My pain is so bad that I can barely make it to the pharmacy. So when you're refused or treated like a criminal it's ridiculous. Bottom line: No one in a pharmacy should ever judge or be allowed to turn away a patient with a legitimate prescription.

Write the president, most people go through
This! Its unconstitutional to put people through this.these pharmacists need to no their place. They r not Doctors, an should no y they r their, as long as we r following the rules, they need to follow theirs.!an fill the script! Just because some street jurk messes around, we should not have to pay for it! We r honest people that have things wrong with us an that is our meds. So please put your pharmacists in check! Some r way out of line!
To bad pain meds get such a bad rap!

I wish I knew what to do about the ongoing problems with pharmacists trumping our doctors prescriptions. I had been using the same pharmacy for all of my prescriptions for almost 2 years when the pharmacist threw my script for my pain meds on the counter. He said since the prior month I had transferred my nexium to Walgreens, that he wasn't going to fill my scripts again.
I told him your pharmacy was out and I needed my medicine. I am tired of being treated like a criminal. It's not enough to be in pain.

Last month my pharmacy didn't have my medicine. I drove to several pharmacies and one Walgreens had it but wouldn't fill until they talked to my doctor. I told her I have been using Walgreens for several years. They should have my information on their computer. Also insurance doesn't pay for this without authorization and if they ran it, they would know. They refused, looking at me like I just held a gun to someones head. This has to stop. Who is giving these pharmacists permission to play judge and jury, when we are just trying to manage our pain?

Lol at you. The people who are mostly involved in R&D within Pharmaceutical companies are not MDs or PharmDs. They are usually Doctors of Biochemistry or actual Pharmacists with advanced degrees in Chemistry or Biochemistry. So Pharmacists really do know more about medications. They get 4 years of training vs 1 or 2 classes taken by MDs. MDs and DOs in their first year or so have to constantly look up medications when they prescribe them to get the dose, strength available, frequency and so on. Over time they learn the this info and memorize it bc they have prescribed them so much. Alot of MDs will go to Pharmacy school first to have that background knowledge about medications bc they get so little training in medical school. Lastly, to the person on here giving out info about them weaning off of oxycodone and taking codeine with something else, please dont share your opinion about what medications to take and whatnot bc you absolutely have NO idea what you're talking about. Oxycontin has a generic call Oxycodone ER not Oxycodone. I dont know why it is so hard for people to differentiate the two. Oxycontin is extended release whereas Oxycodone is immediate release. Now there is Oxycodone ER, generic for Oxycontin. Thats why it is always best to say Oxycodone IR or ER, not just Oxycodone. But how people confuse Oxycodone with Oxycontin is beyond me.

Oxycodone 40mg doesnt exists. Oxycontin 40 mg does. It is good to know the name of the medication that you are wanting or some Pharmacist will lie and say they dont have them in stock bc you asked for a medication that doesn't exist. And to the people that are having issues getting high dose opioid meds at local pharmacies, bc of the risk of carrying them they have really cut down on what and how much they will stock at any time. Also, you may be in alot of pain but dont go to the Pharmacy looking like you just got out of prison. Many pharmacist will lie and say they dont carry that med, strength or it's out of stock bc they think you might be scoping them out for a robbery or whatever. It's not right but it is the truth, especially Walgreens and CVS. Look for pharmacies that specialize in carrying hard to find narcotic pain meds. In Texas, there were 3 or 4 of them in the Dallas area alone. Texas Rx Pharmacy and Lone Star Pharmacy.

It's because you all are calling the pharmacy. They are gonna tell you they don't have it so they don't get robbed. Just go and they will fill it
