Aurobindo Alprazolam Er Vs Greenstone Xr, Sandoz & Actavis Er (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

Ok so a previous conversation I had with alprazolam user was with the newly approved Auribindo alprazolam ERs here in the US. They only make extended release here on US and they make instant release as well but do not believe they are approved in the US just the extended release ER/XR..and aurobindos is as follows:

.5mg er- x 72
1mg er- x 73
2mg er- x 74
3mg er- x 75

I have not yet tried any of the auribindo alprazolam products. I know they are made from India and just my preference I enjoy USA made medicine. I have been doing just great on all greenstone xr / er tablets and think they are great but within the last few years auribindo, sandoz, activas have made their own extended or xr or er version of alprazolam. The new sandoz er looks nice and well made but I have stayed away from sandoz since it started the press underground market and ruined sandoz alprazolam with all the fakes so I stay away from sandoz since and activas I stay away from depending on the medicine.

Which leads me to my question which is the best of most preferred alprazolam extended er and xr release: greenstone(my preferred but only tried activas er) sandoz activas or auribindo. I would love to hear your feedback and any experiences with these medicines as I take greenstone xr and was wondering if it is the most efficient but have not tried the Indian aurobindo or sandoz or activas er..which is your favorite and what do you all think of auribindo alprazolam er compared to greenstone xr alprazolam? Thanks can't wait for some feedback.

Greenstone or aurobindo or sandoz or activas on extended release which is best?

Re: JFK (# 25) Expand Referenced Message

Hi, just realize the message I left you was incorrectly worded. It sounds like you have used Actavis before. Is that the first generic you ever tried? They switched me years ago from Breckenridge to a yellow pill and unfortunately I don’t know the manufacturer’s name, but it made me so anxious. The one they just gave me is a round blue pill and I think it’s Activas. Haven’t tried it yet because I’m scared. Thank you.

Re: JFK (# 25) Expand Referenced Message

Have you had good luck with Activis? It seems like it has a lot of bad reviews. That’s the only generic I can find around this town. I was taking Breckenridge, but I can’t get it anymore. It makes me nervous to change. Just wondered if you had ever tried it. Thank you.

Re: Suzanne (# 18) Expand Referenced Message

I hear you. Using Xanax is no different than people who overeat, watch too much TV, use alcohol, you get the picture. We all have our issues and I need Xanax because I have panic attacks and insomnia. Does that make me a bad person? I’m so sick of this too. Thank goodness I have a nice doctor, but when he retires I don’t know what I’m going to do. I can’t get the right generic, so I’ll ask my doctor for Xanax rather than alprazolam which I didn’t even know I could do until I read some of the posts on here, so thank you to everyone. Good luck to you!

Re: Sandy (# 8) Expand Referenced Message

I use Breckenridge and it’s been working for me very well for years. But now they’ve switched it to Activis and I can’t find Breckenridge anywhere. Have you ever tried Activis? I hate to switch.

Re: Ben Zo Franklin (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

I disagree. Probably if you mix it with alcohol or something, but those of us who take it take it because of anxiety attacks and insomnia. It barely calms me down and that’s it, but I need it to sleep. The reason that it’s regulated is because people will take anything and misuse it and then the rest of us have to suffer.

I use Breckenridge, which I’ve had good luck with. Seven years ago they switched manufacturers on me and it was a yellow pill, but I don’t know who made it, but it made me more anxious rather than less. All the pharmacies around me now only have Activis brand and I’m scared to try it. I suppose it’s cheaper!

Re: Sandy (# 6) Expand Referenced Message

Yes; Sandoz has worked good for me the last 2 years. But yesterday my pharmacy that starts with a W gave me the generic Greenstone - OMG, I was awake all night & my hands went numb. Of course the pharmacy will not exchange it & my Dr.'s office said it must be something else doing it! It's 2022 & I'm afraid the days of getting the good generics is over due to shortages.

I haven't read this thread in a while. I can't believe any of you are taking poison Aurobindo drugs for anything. If you see my posts at the beginning of this thread, you will see what I went through with that crap. Now it appears CVS is using Aurobindo for most of their prescriptions for many things. I went to Minute Clinic & they gave me an antibiotic made by them. I said, no thank you. I went through a lot, but my insurance company finally approved the brand. So I've been lucky I guess. I pay $10 for 3 months' worth & I don't worry about generics anymore. However, if I could find a pharmacy with Greenstone I would move my Rx.

Re: Suzanne (# 18) Expand Referenced Message

Do not cold turkey under any circumstances! You could seizure I wanted to wean off so I read PDR it says 0.5 mg less for two weeks then another 0.5 mg less two weeks my psychiatrist who had been giving me Xanax had to read this so it took 8 weeks but no withdrawal. You need a psychiatrist or Dr to order you 0.25 and how ever many that takes to your current dosage. You go down by 0.25 every two weeks. I was wrong on saying 0.5 - it's 0.25 mg less every two weeks. I started at 3mg daily minus one 0.25 pill for two weeks and so on so because you are tapering slowly with small amount at a time. Your body will adjust and you will not have withdrawal symptoms. My friend tried this with a pill cutter but it's hard to get the dose exact, so if you can get a doc to help you taper or you can do it yourself but very slowly. Xanax is highly addictive and body needs time to adjust. Hope this helps.

Also just for future reference my favorite is Sandoz cause I can't find greenstone but they all have alprazolam and need to taper slowly. Good luck, I'd like to know the outcome!

The greenstone alprazalam 3 mg XR has a hard center that releases slowly instead of the other brands which pretty much release quickly. I am going to be forced to take a different brand because of a recall!!

Does anyone else get forced to take this generic? It seems like it might suck, and I know CVS or Walgreens isn’t going to special order Greenstone for me. What’s the best Xanax XR brand? And where do you get yours?

Re: Alejandro (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

If you take excederin for a headache, and if works for you, but, then all the sudden you don’t have access to that brand, genetics don’t always have the same ingredients so it won’t have the same results taking away your headache.
Headaches are no less real that anxiety, so….. take a Xanax, and stop judging people.

I have tried them all. For a while, greenstone was the best. Now I believe that Sandoz Product has the best efficacy.

So, I have a refill due soon, and I was fortunate enough to find a pharmacy that usually carries my preferred, AUTHORIZED Generic 2mg Greenstone Alprazolam in stock, and if not can and will special order it for me from their distributor, as it says on my CVS profile, "Greenstone Brand Only".

Years Ago, before I knew about the existence of Authorized Generics and their difference between normal generics (that only have to be 80% Bioequivalent to the name brand!), I tried just about every generic 2mg Alprazolam manufacturer out there, and about 10 years ago, the White ones, (Greenstone or Sandoz), and the Yellow "SchoolBuses", Made by Purepac until they were bought by Actavis were all solid choices. Then I started seeing the Green, "Hulks", and despite confusing popular opinion, I personally never really liked them! ONLY, the very first time trying one did I feel like it hit me strong. Every one I tried after that failed to have one of the main components/side effects I desire from this medication: Drowsiness.

I know everybody's body chemistry is different, but for example, even when I had a choice of the Dava's (Hulk's), I chose Sandoz, because they are significantly more sedating. Ironically, for being the only Generic 2mg Alprazolam version to have the emulcifier Crospovidone in it, The Green "Hulks" always seemed to have a delayed mechanism of action to me, and would take a good 45 minutes to an hour for me to feel anything, if I even did at all.

I was also fairly certain that at this point, after DAVA Pharmaceuticals was bought out by Endo Pharmaceuticals in 2017, that these Hulks would cease to exist. Evidently, they started being produced by Endo's Generic's Division: Par Pharmaceuticals, whom also make the Alprazolam ODT, or Orally-Disintegrating Tablets.

My Question is: According to the McKesson website, it appears as though a pharmacy COULD in fact still order the DAVA "Hulks", as they have the same NDC number and everything, but the bottle says Par Pharmaceuticals, and on CVS' website, underneath the picture of the tablet it says "Alprazolam Generic 2mg Tablet, Par Pharmaceuticals, an Endo Corporation.

If the Green "S 90 3" imprinted "Hulk" tablets, are still available, seeing as how the current patent is apparently set to expire this May, should I use one of my monthly refills to try the Dava/Par "Hulks" one last time? If McKesson can order them, considering I might not be able to get them again EVER, once the patent runs out? Or should I not mess with a good thing, a continue to get my Greenstone brand I prefer, which I think is the right choice, because as an "Authorized Generic", its' the only manufacturer whose formula is identical to the brand name's, and so it's like asking someone, "Which would you rather have: A can of Coca-Cola, or a can of Shasta Cola?"

Thoughts?
