The one that is most commonly used is suboxone. It is a wonderful medication that allows you to go off opiates without having to feel the horrendous opiate withdrawals. You must be off opiates at least 24 hours to take it. Having opiates in your system while taking suboxone can make you very sick, I know this from experience. Hope this helps and good luck!

The other one commonly used is Methadone, but unlike Suboxone, many people treated with it require a lifetime maintenance dose and never become completely drug free.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

And as to the Suboxone, it isn't 24 hours that you have to wait, you must wait until you are in full withdrawal, or it can throw you into precipitated withdrawals.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Naltrexone(Naltima) stops the craving and is non-addictive. Can only be used once you are free of opiates in your system
