How long after taking Suboxone is it safe to take Xanax? I have severe asthma and I'm scared. ## No one is going to tell you what is "safe" or not aside from your Doctor. Abuse and dependence Suboxone has opioid effects, and long-term use can lead to physical and psychological dependence. Suboxone dependence can cause drug-craving and drug-seeking behavior, which may lead to misuse or abuse. Abuse can cause overdose and dangerous side effects, including death. This is especially true if Suboxone is used along with other opioids, alcohol, benzodiazepines (such as Ativan, Valium, or Xanax), or other drugs. ## What Eddy stated is correct, only your doctor can decide what is safest for you. Combining Suboxone with Xanax could result in higher levels of sedation, respiratory depr...

I have been on 16 mg of suboxone for almost a month. Last night I took 3 norco 10 mgs at the same time. It has been 15 hours can I take my suboxone? ## From what I've seen on other threads, it seems like most people recommend waiting until the norco is completely out of your system before taking suboxone (which may be an estimated 24-48 hours based on how much you took). So yeah, I get the sense that you're on the right track, but if it were me I'd probably try to wait it out for another day or so (may be easier said than done). There's also something called a Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS) which you can look up online that asks you a series of questions to help you better determine when you might be in withdrawals and therefore ready to use suboxone. I hope thi...

Hi I have been on suboxone for four weeks, before that I was on methadone for five years. I decided to try kratom to stop the suboxone but it isn't really doing much and I feel really lethargic and headaches. I took about 4-5gram of kratom at 8am, it's now 1:40pm"..I want to take some suboxone, will I get sick? Precipitated withdrawals? I've seen some people say they take suboxone after kratom and are fine, but, there isn't much out there on the topic. I just don't wanna get sick for I have a three ur old boy and Christmas is in two days ## I got no response but ended up taking 2mg suboxone at 2:30 and was fine...took another 1mg a little later and still fine...just a bit of a headache but I always get that from sunoxone ## It seems like no one can really answer ...

I've been on percocets for 2 years. 5mg. 4 times a day. I know not much. now I'm down to 3. my last dose was 1230am. is now 1030. I have an 8 milligram suboxone. how long should I wait. and how much should I take. I just took a 5 milligram klonopin. on my nervousness. my legs are starting to feel a little crampy. got a little stomach pain. so please can someone tell me. how to start this. I know its not much that I did. but they say it doesn't matter. you still get the withdrawal pains. Help . ## Hi, You need to be in wds before taking subs, about 16-18 hrs. The amount of percs you were taking is not that high. Thats actually a prescribed dose. 1, 4x/day. Anyways, one sub isn,t gonna last long. If I were you I,d just go thru the perc wds, 4-5 days and be done with it. If you...

I regularly take 10-12 mg of Suboxone daily. This month I ran out 3 days early, so I took 80 mg of opiates. Each day I took my last does of opiates at noon, it's now 7 pm. Is it safe to take Suboxone again? I don't want to go in withdrawals but I have always been told Suboxone remains in your system for 3-5 days. If so, is there enough Suboxone in my system so I won't go into withdrawals? ## Hello, David! How are you? It's difficult to gauge, because how long it stays can vary from person to person. It would really be best to wait until you're in full withdrawal, before starting it, again, unless your doctor directs otherwise. 80mgs of opiates is a high amount, so there could be a pretty high risk of precipitated withdrawals, if you take it too soon. The FDA classifi...

I am prescribed fentanyl 25mcgs/hr. Sometimes I have trouble keeping the patch on. I had a couple fall off early this month and couldn't get my refill early. So I decided I would use Subxn to help if there was withdrawal. It worked good, but now it's time for me to stop and put back on my patch. I don't know how long I have to wait. I took 2mgs yesterday at 3pm. It's now 1pm. Is it too soon? ## You will be fine to take it, 2mg is a really low dosage- I take a-more than that. Suboxin is a opiate blocker- your patch may not seem as strong but I doubt it- If you take suboxin over a period of time 3days or more - then your patch would be a waste. That low of a dose will not effect that patch 2-day. But if you hadden take a 8mg gram suboxin- I would suggest wating 2days befor...

If u take a 4mg suboxone at 8am in the morning before work and sweat alot and drink alot of water u could take opiates around 10pm that night and u will feel it but not nearly as much as if u just wait for the next day. Also alot of ppl including myself think u can push through by using more but its just waste of money. The sub will block it and its very dangerous because you can overdose very easily because your putting the opiates in your system but not feeling it but you can still od, also if you used subs for a few days in a row ot takes a little longer for the sub to get out of your system like another 12 to 24 hours. Also your tolerance goes down really quick just as fast as ur tolerance goes up it goes down just as quick. My personal experience I was taking subs for 3 weeks and w...

I took a 4mg suboxone film strip over 9 hours ago, when is it ok to put my 100MCG fentanol patch on? ## Hello, Jeskie! How are you? It usually takes about 3 days, before other opiates will become effective for you, again. The FDA classifies Fentanyl as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

How long do i have to wait b4 being able to take Norco for the pain till I see a surgeon ## Hello, Leann! How are you feeling? I am sorry that you're in pain. It usually takes about 3 days for other pain medications to start working, again. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as dizziness, headache, nausea, constipation, and dry mouth.

When can I start taking a bunavail after taking 2 roxycodone ## You must be in full withdrawal from all other opiates, before taking Suboxone, or it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Verwon is correct. Not necessarily full-blown withdrawals, but you need to have at least a few of the first symptoms of withdrawals, which varies from person to person. Safe rule is usually at least 24 hours from last dose. ## The FDA may have a warning but I think the doctor prescribing needs to have a heavier burden of letting the patient know just had hard or impossible to get...

Ok I have been given a prescription of norco 7.5. I have been on subs since Dec 2013, 8mg a day. Is it safe to take them when they pull my tooth? ## It will not help with your pain until you stop Suboxone for at least 48 hours, and even with that you might get limited relief. ## Steph77 is right it's a complete waste, you should probably just take an extra 4mg of sub that's what my doc told me to do and it worked call your doc and see what he says. ## Ok so it did work with the extra 4mg. I don't do pain well at all. The dentist already scares the s*** outta me so that don't help... ## Ok say if I didn't take the subs for them 48 hours how long would it have to wait to take my suboxone again? ( especially for the pain ) on a side not does anyone one have any recommendations for relieving severe pain while on suboxone...or even methadone?!?! ## It sounds like you actually may be on too low of a dose of the Suboxone...

After taking 100mcg transdermal fentanyl patches, which I have been on for a few months. I was prescribed 2 8-2mg SuboxoneNaloxone, Insurance would only pay for the pill form. When I take Suboxone pill, It puts me into withdrawal. I was just wondering how long should I wait after taking the 100mg fentanyl transdermal patch, before taking my Suboxone pills? I'm hoping someone is out there that would be willing to help me out with this problem. Thanks, in advance, God Bless ## Hello, Emberlee! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you've experienced. You have to be in full withdrawal from the Fentanyl, before you can safely take Suboxone, or the precipitated withdrawals will keep occurring, as instructed by the NIH. There is no specific time frame, it can vary from p...

I have been prescribed to suboxone for 3 years and I haven't taken it in 2 days. I don't regularly use opiates but I have taken 30 mg. of hydrocodone in the past 12 hours. When will it be safe for me to take my suboxone again? ## Hi Wade, This estimate may be different for everyone, but I've read other comments here suggesting that one should wait a minimum of 12-24 hours after taking opiates before going back on suboxone. The time frame seems to vary though, whereas other individuals mentioned waiting only 8 hours and didn't denote any regrets from doing so. Having said that, I get the impression you'd be just fine waiting it out for a day. But if still in doubt, I would even encourage you ask your prescribing doctor or pharmacist for a second opinion since you can ...

I'm trying to detox off opiates. I have taken 10 percocet 7.5's in the last 14 hrs to help with withdrawals. I intend on taking some subutex strips & my last dose of percocet was 2 hrs ago. Should I take one of the strips soon or wait? ## Hello, Julz! How are you? No, you need to be in full withdrawal from the Percocet, before taking Suboxone, otherwise it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I was on methadone and haven't had any since monday. I've been taking percocet to help with withdrawal. I took 10 mg of percocet at about 4:00 this morning. How long till i can take a suboxone? ## how long after taking percocet can i take suboxone ## 4 days ## You should follow your doctor's prescribing instructions. In order to take Suboxone, you have to be in full withdrawals from other opiates, because otherwise the Naloxone in it could throw you into very dangerous withdrawals. Learn more Suboxone details here.* Thus, there is no set time frame for when to start treatment, because the onset of full withdrawals can vary from person to person, depending on how their body handles it. Some people may end up in full withdrawals within 12 hours, or it could be 4 days for other...

I got off my subs for a month and went back to full antagonists thinking I was gonna have gall bladder surgery. I can't take the opiates anymore so I went back to my subs two days ago after being on methadone for about two weeks. My question is why do I still feel so so weak and I'm not familiar with methadone, so thinking it's still in my system maybe and the two are fighting it out ??? ## Because methadone has such a long half life, I think your assumption is probably correct in that the two medications may be fighting it out on your receptors so to speak - potentially causing side effects such as weakness. MedsChat has a drug half life calculator on the home page here that estimates how long a specific drug/dosage remains in your body after certain time intervals; whereas...

If I have only been taking 8 mg. of suboxone a day for one month, can I stop suddenly without withdrawals? ## No, it will still most likely cause some withdrawals, if you stop abruptly. As listed by the FDA, the withdrawal effects may include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I would assume you would have a typical withdrawal scenario. NEVER make a decision on medication on whether to change dosages (in this case significant) on your own ESPECIALLY going off anything cold turkey after being on the med for a month. Depending on the medication, there can be some severe consequences. Not necessarily for Suboxone but I personally think you should talk with your physician about it. I'm not sure how it works but if you ...

I have a quarter piece of subutex and 10 hours ago I took suboxone so is it ok for me to take the subutex? I'm in withdrawal right now and need something, or will the suboxone block the effects of the subutex?? ## Hello, Brownie! How are you? Subutex contains Buprenorphine, just not the Naloxone that is also in Suboxone, so it should be find to take, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I just waited till today and I get prescribed suboxone not subutex I found that that's y I was asking!!

I took 16 mg of suboxone at 4am Saturday morning and got my morphine filled now. Is it safe to take it after 16 hours? ## Hello, Scott! How are you? No, the Naloxone in the Suboxone will prevent the Morphine from having any effect, you usually need to wait at least 72 hours, before other narcotics will work, again, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
