I was given Doxytet, diagnosed with vaginal discharge syndrome. On my 5th day of taking the antibiotics I noticed large amounts of thick discharge and the opening of my vagina very itchy. Is it safe to take doxytet while breast feeding ## Doxttetracycline is an antibiotic and it can really depend on how long you are taking it. If you will be on it for a long term, then you may want to avoid breast feeding while taking it, because this class of antibiotics has been known to cause staining of the tooth buds of developing infants and children and this staining is permanent. If you are only on it for a short time, such as 10 days or so, then there shouldn't be any issues, because there hasn't been enough of it detected in the breast milk in such cases to cause harm. Hi, I went to the clinic because I was experiencing lower left abdominal pain. I did a u/a at the clinic and there was blood 2+ and leukocytes 2+. So I was given metronidazole 400mg 5 tablets as a single dose and doxytet 100mg daily for 7 days. Immediately after taking 1st dose of doxy, I went on my menstrual cycle and it doesn't seem to stop.
