I have a reoccurring knee injury and was prescribed Tramadol which gave me an allergic reaction, the hospital prescribed me steroids, Pepcid and Benadryl to counter act the rash. The rash ran the entire length of both my arms from finger tips to armpits, after taking the prescribed medicine the rash has gone away but now I'm peeling badly and it hurts, is this normal? If not what can I do because the peeling is spreading all over my body. ## Hello, Safari! How are you? Has there been any change? If not, or if it has worsened, you may be having a dangerous reaction to the medication and should seek emergency medical attention at your nearest ER. Peeling skin may be a sign of Stevens-Johnson syndrome, according to the NIH and it has the potential to be fatal, if left untreated.

Are there other meds in the same class that I need to stay away from. I have been on tramadol for years. In the last three days I have been experiencing face swelling and itching which started out slowly but progressively has gotten worse. Today was worse than any previous day and I noticed got worse each time I took another pill so I am stopping taking them. ## Hello, Maria! How are you? Has there been any change? Anytime you experience such an allergic reaction, it is very important to stop taking the medication immediately and seek medical attention. The NIH warns that such reactions may become worse, with repeated exposure. As to which medications to watch out for, there is really no definitive way to say, there's a chance you could be allergic to other opiates, or any given cla...

I recently went to the ER with a hemiplegic migraine. I have inherited these from my Grandmother and was diagnosed 3 years ago after suffering horrible headaches since my youth.I use tramadol and fioricet to control them and usually end up once a year in ER for shot of Nubane(SP) I told the ER Dr I could not have Imitrex as I had allergic reactions in the past. She gave me the shot anyway. I was on the couch for 2 weeks after the shot unable to walk talk or eat. I returned to work as I had no more vacation or sick time left. I worked a full week and then was put on medical leave by my supervisor. There were times I could not comprehend (I am a medical secretary in Physical therapy dept at the same hospital where shot was given) where I was or what I was there for. I also wet my pants, h...

can tramadol help with my severe itching caused by my nerves ## Hello, Lois! How are you? No, Tramadol is classified by the FDA as an opioid analgesic, so it won't do anything to treat itching. It carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Have you consulted your doctor about the itching? Do you take anything for your nerve issues? ## No, this itching is likely an allergic reaction. Call your Doctor and Pharmacist today. ## I'm seeing a dermatologist in less than 3 weeks. Also an ears, nose, and throat doctor on the same day. I'll try to remember to share anything I find out concerning the "itching" thing. Seems to only happen to me at sleep time.- Weird huh ??!!

My opinion is stay the hell away from this drug. I took it for less than a week for severe back pain. I experienced the following, all of which indicate a deadly allergic reaction and are supposed to be rare: -extreme swelling of the tongue to the point where my teeth were cutting into it; -trouble sleeping/night terrors; -constant itching at night that was affecting my sleep; -frequent feeling of having to urinate. The drug did barely anything for my pain and I had to up my dose within two days. That was when the side effects started. Again, not worth it. Please stay away. Pharmacists and doctors will insist that the drug is safe but it isn't. I've also personally talked to three people who have had seizures as a result of this drug. Ibuprofen will do as much for pain as Tramad...

I have been taking Tramadol since Monday . I took five 50 mg pills since Tuesday and had an allergic reaction to them - all of the symptoms. How long will I suffer from the reaction? ## Hello, Linda! How are you doing? I'm sorry about what happened. What symptoms did you experience? It might take a week or so, before things start to ease up and you feel better. You should speak to your prescriber about it, to make sure it's listed in your medical records and not prescribed for you, again. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Hello! my boyfriend has took a half of subsolv 5.7 for about a week or so now. I had tramadol yesterday for the first time and within the hour i was throwing up dizzy and really light headed and today still dizzy and nauseated almost like a really bad hangover.. Was thinking it maybe an allergic reaction from taking it. As. I am also allergic to codiene. Just wondering how kong it will take for it to leave my system. ## Those are possible side effects to taking it, but not characteristic of an allergic reaction. However, I do understand, since I experienced the same thing when I tried it and it was quite miserable. If you only took one dose, then it shouldn't last too long, about 24 hours or so. Thus, if you're still feeling the symptoms, you should consult your doctor, since something else may be causing them. How are you feeling today? Learn more Tramado...

curious about this medication is a white small ,oblong shaped tablets ones side is markedTVAND THE OTHERSIDE 58. i found in my neices bag? ## FYI this is Tramadol, a mildly-addictive narcotic w/ properties of SSRIs as well. As of Dec. 2012 it has become a controlled substance so not only do you need an Rx for it but every time an Rx is filled, the DEA is automatically notified. You shouldn't take it w/out an Rx, and if you are allergic to codeine, morphine or if you've ever had a bad reaction or if you are currently taking an SSRZi, or if you have a seizure disorder. Hope that helps. ## That identification is correct. However, Tramadol isn't presently classified as a narcotic, though that has changed several times since it was brought to market and may change again at any ti...

If you are allergic to codeine would you be allergic to tramdol? ## Hi Vanessa, According to addictionblog.org, Tramadol does not contain codeine. "Tramadol is a synthetic drug. This means that Tramadol is created in laboratories and is the result of chemical reactions. It is NOT a natural product, like codeine, and is called an opioid due to its chemical make up." That being said, you shouldn't have an allergic reaction to Tramadol, but everyone reacts to medication differently so I would definitely speak with your doctor before taking it. Does the topiramate help back pain because ive just been changed to pain management and my new doctor just changed me from tramadol to topiramate 50 mg and I haven't seen anything about back pain on here. Can someone help me before I start taking this? ## It can sometimes help with certain types of nerve pain, according to FDA reports, it is also used to help prevent seizures. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes. (NDC 0245-0708) The only way to really discover how it will work for you is by trying it. Have you started taking it, yet? ## I am not a doctor. I can only share my personal experience and opinion. I take Topamax (the branded version of Topiramate) for a seizure disorder. I am an 82 year old female & take one or two tramacet tablets every day for my osteoperosis & back pain for almost 4years. I am now suffering from itching skin, itchy patches on my arms & an itchy scalp. ## Have you consulted your doctor? Tramacet contains the active ingredients Tramadol and Paracetamol and though it isn't common, there is always the slight possibility that you've developed a sudden allergic reaction to it. You should consult your doctor to get to the root of the problem. Are you using anything else new, or taking any other medications?

Walgreens filled for me this time and b4 giving it to me asked "your allergic to tramadol? But you've taken norco?" Being in a hurry I didn't think about it..but I've had to take 2 and I'm itching and breaking out soo I think I'll have to ask them about that ## They are different medications, however, when someone discovers they are allergic to one medication, there is always a risk that they may find more they are allergic to, as well. In such cases, it is best to stop taking it and consult your doctor immediately, according to NIH warnings, such reactions tend to get worse with repeated exposure. Has there been any change?

This all seems to have started around the same time Darvon was pulled from the shelves with nothing to replace it. (Darvon & Tramadol combined was finding some success in providing relief for fybromyalgia) I gave up on trying to get Walgreens to fill prescriptions for Oxycodone/Oxycontin. After trying Walmart, several Publix, CVS & most of the Walgreens in my area, I am trying the Morphine based product MS Contin instead. I had an allergic reaction to the generic brand and am now on day 2 of the manufactor's and am experiencing similar problems. The conversion formula from Oxycodone to Morphine isn't reliable either. Meanwhile, the local Walgreens are now out of Adderall going on 2 weeks, because the company that makes it (Corapharma & Barr make the two generics) app...

My name is Sara. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and crohns. I take prednisone and 50 mg tramadol. I've also been prescribed cyclobenzaprine for muscle spasms. Im super sensitive to medications and im allergic to penicillin sulfa toridol, cant take nsaids as I'm allergic to shell fish. Im terrified to start the Gabapentin for spinal and nerve pain. Im afraid i will have a reaction to it. Its 300 mg every 8 hrs. Any advice or reassurance? ## Sara It's surprising that you can tolerate tramadol since that's very similar to the NSAID family. One would think tramadol would cause the same effects that NSAIDs do.Gabapentin is a drug extremely effective for nerve pain unfortunately it has a host of side effect that many find bothersome. But If your prescriber believes ...

I was given a GI cocktail of mylanta, lidocaine viscous and dicyclomine at the er. I went in with chest pains feeling really out of it, shortness of breath, had blisters on the roof of my mouth, tired and couldn't remain awake. It could've been due to an allergic reaction to tramadol pain pills which I got last Friday. A chest xray showed ACUTE bronchitis and chest pains. EKG twice was fine. Did it twice Tuesday and nothing came up, but when I drank that GI Cocktail when my throat got numb, it felt like I was suffocating. I could hardly breathe. It felt like my air intake was closing up on me. I could see in my mind what it felt like it was doing. It sounds like you may have had an allergic reaction to the tramadol or coricidin in order to experience itching and hives like that. Were you ever able to to determine which of those medications might've caused the allergy?

I have a severe allergic reaction to aspirin (large hives and feinting). I have arthritis in both of my hands. My doctor gave me Tramadol which is only helping some. Is there at least one antiinflamatory I can take where it won't cross react with my allergy. My allergy to aspirin is as severe as someone allergic to penicillin. ## Hi Sharon, A few other options I would consider, are: Ibuprofen/Motrin/Advil, Diclofenac, or even a natural alternative such as Turmeric (Curcumin); which contains more than two dozen anti-inflammatory compounds. According to an article on NaturalNews.com, "Curcumin is proven to be even better for relieving arthritis pains and stiffness than expensive pharmaceuticals, without any side effects. Want to know if I can take neuroaid with my keppra meeds? Also does neuroaid contain tramadol? If it does I would not be able to take it because I have had a massive allergic reaction to tramadol. ## Dear Kerry, Yes, NeuroAiD can be taken with Keppra. We have patients who are taking keppra and NeuroAiD and did not report any adverse reactions. NeuroAiD has all natural ingredients and does not contain Tramadol. For more updated information about NeuroAiD, please visit our website at neuroaid.com ## I'm not sure if Neroaid contains Tramadol - it would be ideal to get some independent lab testing done because even natural products from other countries may contain undisclosed pharmaceutical ingredients. With that said, of course the product could be completely legitimate. I would say th...
