Taking the escitalipram 20 mg I became irritable and suicidal. Now I'm having terrible withdrawals . I take Evekeo for ADHD but still need an antidepressant . Anyone know what will work that's not an SSRI ## Hello, Jen! How are you? There are several other options that might help you, such as SNRI antidepressants, tricyclic antidepressants, some antipsychotics and some anticonvulsants. The FDA lists many of the side effects profiles as being very similar and possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and dry mouth. It's really a matter of working with your doctor to find the one that works best for you. Does anyone else have any advice or suggestions to offer?

Is it OK to take Aricept 10 mg together with Excedrin PM ? ## Hi Mel, My findings state that there are in-fact unsafe interactions between these two drugs. Posted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "GENERALLY AVOID: Due to opposing effects, agents that possess anticholinergic activity (e.g., sedating antihistamines; antispasmodics; neuroleptics; phenothiazines; skeletal muscle relaxants; tricyclic antidepressants; class IA antiarrhythmics especially disopyramide; carbamazepine; cimetidine; ranitidine) may negate the already small pharmacologic benefits of acetylcholinesterase inhibitors in the treatment of dementia. These agents may also adversely affect elderly patients in general. Clinically significant mental status changes associated with anticholinergic agents ca...

pls let me know the purposr of serta 50mg. ## By Serta, do you mean Sertraline? If so, Sertraline is a Hydrochloride prescribed as an antidepressant. Many pharmaceutical substances are prepared as hydrochlorides so that they may be quickly released in the gastrointestinal tract; the body usually absorbs a hydrochloride within 15-30 minutes. The efficacy of Sertraline for depression is similar to that of older tricyclic antidepressants, but its side effects are much less pronounced. Differences with newer antidepressants are subtler and also mostly confined to side effects. Evidence suggests that sertraline may work better than fluoxetine (Prozac) for some subtypes of depression. Sertraline is highly effective for the treatment of panic disorder, but cognitive behavioral therapy is a bet...

is doxepin as good or any better than elival or is remeron a good medication for depressoin? ## Medication effectiveness can vary from person to person. What works well for someone else may not work as well for you and vice-versa. The same is true of possible side effects, a drug that might not cause any in your friend, may cause severe problems, when you take it. Therefore, the only real way to know what works best for you is to try a medication. Both Doxepin and Elavil are tricyclic antidepressants and can cause side effects, such as: nausea, fatigue, difficulty urinating and weight gain. More details: Remeron contains the active ingredient Mirtazapine and it is a tetracyclic antidepressant, so it's in a different class. Its side effects can include: nausea, increased appetite, ...

Can this drug be taken with an expectorant such as diphen expectorant for a child about twelve years old? ## My answer to your question would be no, due to an interaction found between the active ingredient triprolidine, in Decondine, which doesn't appear to go well with drugs like Diphenhydramine. This interaction states the following: "MONITOR: Agents with anticholinergic properties (e.g., sedating antihistamines; antispasmodics; neuroleptics; phenothiazines; skeletal muscle relaxants; tricyclic antidepressants; disopyramide) may have additive effects when used in combination. Excessive parasympatholytic effects may result in paralytic ileus, hyperthermia, heat stroke, and the anticholinergic intoxication syndrome. COULD YOU TAKE TRAZODONE WITH NEXIUM AND CITALOPRAM 40 MG AND IF YOU ALLERGY TO SULFA ## Hi Tea, Based on my research, I would not recommend taking any of those drugs together. Serious interactions are present between Trazodone and Citalopram, as well as between Citalopram and Nexium. The only combination deemed "safe" would be Nexium + Trazodone. The interaction between Trazodone + Citalopram notes the following: "MONITOR CLOSELY: Concomitant use of agents with serotonergic activity such as serotonin reuptake inhibitors, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, 5-HT1 receptor agonists, ergot alkaloids, lithium, St. John's wort, phenylpiperidine opioids, dextromethorphan, and tryptophan may potentiate the risk of serotonin syndrome, which is a rare but se...

synergistic effect prosed and amitriptolyne ## I'm not sure what aspects of each drug you might be referring to as far as having a "synergistic effect", but both of these medication have completely different uses. Prosed/DS is a urinary antiseptic, urinary acidifier, analgesic, and anticholinergic combination. It works by helping to kill bacteria in the urine, decreasing pain and inflammation, and reducing muscle spasms in the urinary tract. These actions work together to help relieve discomfort while urinating. Amitriptyline is used to treat symptoms of depression. Amitriptyline is in a class of medications called tricyclic antidepressants. It works by increasing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain that are needed to maintain mental balance.
