I took accutane in 2004 at 63 years of age. I immediatetly started having problems with triglycerides, eyes, diziness, balance problems, dementia, depression, slurred speech, elevated blood sugar, etch. Is there anyone out there that took this drug at this age? ## Age means nothing. I am sure there are people who have taken at your age, but people younger say 16 have ended up with diseases that usually 50-60 yrs get from Accutane. Many people have suffered what you state from Accutane. There are all documented side effects. Hopefully back in 2004 you stopped the med and things got better. Did you take it for Acne or Cancer? ## Are you still taking it? While the FDA does warn that these can be side effects, that doesn't necessarily mean that it has cause brain damage. Other side effe...

Hi.. It is my understanding that some opiates like H cause some changes in your brain over the long term and I was wondering if this was the case with fentanyl? It is a regularly prescribed medicine so I was hoping no. Anyone? ## Hello, Browncow! How are you? That is one of the huge differences that explains why some drugs are legal and some aren't. The benefits have to outweigh the possible risks and they actually have to have a therapeutic medical use. And no, I've not found anything about Fentanyl causing brain damage. As listed by the FDA, the most common reported issues with long-term use are addiction, tolerance and overdose. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mout...

Hi, I've been prescribed brintellix for the treatment of depression almost a year ago. I took 5 mg for a week, then up to 10 mg for two weeks, then up to 15, itching started so went back to 10 and then I got sick of this med so I dropped it alltogether. All in all, I took for 4-5 weeks. When I stopped taking it I started experiencing withdrawal symptoms similar to withdrawal from Effexor: Brain zaps, permanent agitation, permanent anger, inability to concentrate, stiff muscles. I think that these symptoms decreased somewhat but they're not fully gone and I'm still experiencing them almost a year later(!). Did someone else react in a similar manner? Was permanent brain damage caused? I don't know what to do and I certainly can't go on living this way. Thank you ## How...

In the past I have been prescribed .25 mg alprazolam (Xanax) to take as needed. I would take about one a month. I am 46 years old with mild TBI (traumatic brain injury), seasonal depression and PTSD. I am unusual in having zero problems of drug addiction: I am super careful in monitoring my reactions to all medications, will never take anything other than as prescribed, and will still never take anything until first I've researched by myself its dosage, reactions to other medications, dangers and side effects and decided that the prescription is indeed worth taking. My current psychiatrist does not want to prescribe me Xanax, stating that it will cause permanent brain damage. I do not want to take Xanax if indeed just taking it once causes permanent brain damage! However, previously...

I took Cipro for a UTI and within 24 hrs of starting it began to have issues with breathing and energy and balance. After finishing the drug things got worse. And the thing that bothers me most is that my Dr. rx'ed the drug for a UTI BEFORE getting the lab work... the bacteria was e-coli.... and Cipro didn't kill it!!! I still had the UTI.... Meanwhile it is now 7 months since I took the drug and I'm still having massive issues with balance and extreme fatigue. I have a friend who took it and lost his color vision for 2 yrs. He also experienced balance issues, brain fog and extreme fatigue. I'd like to know of others who have similar issues, how long it has been since the last dose and what conditions they are still suffering from. Please talk to me about your experience...

I drink more or less 40 stilpanes per day. Do I need help or can I qui on my own? ## Stilpane contains 320mgs of Paracetamol, 8mgs of Codeine, 32mgs of Caffeine and 150mgs of Meprobamate and if you have been taking that many, then you may be i serious medical danger and you should see a doctor immediately. Aside from the addiction factor, the Paracetamol can be toxic is taken in amounts over 4gramgs (4,000mgs) in a day and if you are taking 40 of them, then that is 12,800mgs, or 12.8grams, which is way past the toxic level. You may have already caused permanent damage to your liver and other vital organs and need to seek medical attention. Are there any other questions or comments? ## I had a cyct removed from my brain and I am now addicted to still pain. If I do not have the tablets I ...

I was told that me finding my brother snoring after a bad wreck and head injury was a bad sign. Why is this? He was in a coma for weeks but he is gradually coming around. He can't talk or move his right side. ## Hello, Michele! How are you? He may have developed sleep apnea, which one possible issue listed by the NIH, it means that the person stops breathing periodically, while sleeping. Heavy snoring can be a sign of it. The snoring can also just be a sign of brain damage, in some cases. Has he always been a snorer? What types of medications do they have him on? Did you inform his doctor that he was snoring?

I would like to know how the medicine effects you over a period of time. Sometimes I wake up at night because I have being jerking, a whole body spasm. This occurs almost every night, sometimes it is only my legs or arms. This didn't start until I started the Suboxone a couple weeks ago. I just want a pictogram or detailed description on what is can do to the brain in the long run. ## I can't send you anything, because you didn't include any contact information in your post. It isn't just your brain that Opiates affect, they also affect the rest of your body and yes, with long term use, some damage can be permanent.

I've had a traumatic brain injury and my right arm shakes uncontrollably. Do you think taking clonazepam will help the shakiness or tremors? After all the neurologist thinks it will. I want to know your views and thoughts on this condition. ## I myself have brain stem cancer and had the back of my skull removed and all but 2% of the cancer cut out. I'm on heavy doses of Meclizine, its a dizzy anti-vertigo pill but helps alot with shakes. I have shakes through-out my whole body and nerve damage on my left side. I'm on Clonazepam also, but i haven't noticed any help with the shakes from it. ## Clonazepam has been known to help with these types of symptoms. I was nearly killed in an auto accident in '92. I developed severe fibromyalgia among other problems due to brain damage and temporary coma and paralysis. For years Drs. Told me my pain was all in my head. It wasn't recognized as legitimate until '97. I was unable to even stay conscious due to pain I was eventually put on a very complex cocktail of meds to help me and even achieved some independent life. Now I have learned my medi-care program isn't going to cover it. This will ruin all I've struggled to achieve. They tried me on morphine, didn't do a thing. I already take percocet, valium, soma, and others, yet still need this to overcome the pain. I don't feel good but I can function. I don't know what will happen if taken. Can anyone help me? ## I'...

How long does chantix stay in your system? Could it still be affecting me after 9 months? ## No! There are no medications that stay in your system for that long. The only way you would still be feeling effects was if it had caused some type of permanent body/organ damage, which I am sure would have been detected long ago. Chantix contains the active ingredient Varenicline,it is a stop smoking aid. Common side effects during use can include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and abnormal dreams. Did you have any other questions? ## You say that no medication can stay in your system that long. Hmmn, interesting concept. So no medicine/drug can stay in your system that long. So people who took a medicine/drug that affected their brain lets say back in the 60's or even possibly now of any sa...

my pain dr. who I have been seeing for over a year have end stage brain lung cancer has been writing for 180 8mg diliuidid and 175 mg fentenol patch all is well and working today I saw his asscioaite and she changed my diliudid to 10mg Percocet every 8 hrs is this ethically right my organs are already compromised and now she wants to put acetaminophen into my liver ## Hello, Joey! How are you? She's actually not obligated to prescribe you anything and due to the new regulations, unless you have a terminal condition, such as late stage cancer, there are limits as to how much you can be prescribed, so she couldn't keep writing for 180 of the Dilaudid. And it would be rare to have any damage occur from just taking 3 of the Percocet a day, with just 325mgs of Acetaminophen per dose....
