I have been on Tri-Pre for awhile now. I didn't want to have my period this month so I skipped the week of sugar pills. I started bleeding a little on Wednesday and it is now Monday and I'm still bleeding. Is this going to stop? It's really light, but annoying and thought I was skipping my period by going right to the new pack. ## Hello, Madi! How are you? It should stop, but it may take a few weeks. By not giving your body that weeks break, you've basically created a hormonal imbalance, skipping the placebo pills doesn't always work for everyone. When I was younger and taking an oral contraceptive, I always spotted, if I tried. If it doesn't stop in a few weeks, or gets heavier, you should consult your doctor. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly...

I recently skipped the white sugar pills while taking tri-sprintec, and I've been spotting for about two weeks now. Is there anyway to stop the bleeding? ## Hello, Emma! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. No, there is really no way to stop the spotting. Things will eventually get back on track and balance back out, most likely after your next period. Your body is expecting that break every month that allows a period to happen and by skipping that week, you've thrown your hormonal balance off. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight gain, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## emma the sugar pills are just...

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this: I take Actiq for my migraines and works great most of the time but is really doing a number on my teeth. I've heard that the lozenge form of Fentanyl (Fentora) has no sugar in it at all, but a lot of people I've talked to say it's not as long lasting as the Actiq and their pain tends to re-occur quicker. Why can't they make the Actiq sugar free? ## I can't find any details on this, but my first guess is that it probably has to do with disguising the taste of the medication. Fentanyl is a narcotic and they are known to be very bitter and it would take a lot to make sure that they didn't completely gross someone out. In addition, the use of actual sugars as a sweetener opens them up to a much broader market, as man...

I'm going on a cruise in March . I'm supposed to be on my period during that rime. I was told to skip the sugar pills and start a new pack and I won't have a period that month. Is this safe for a 44 year old? ## Hello, Sheila! How are you? As long as your doctor approves, there's no harm in it. But there are no guarantees that it will work, you may still experience your period, or some spotting. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS like symptoms. It's actually a bigger concern that you're still taking them in your 40's, because that's very unusual. Most doctors won't prescribe them for women past age 40, due to the increased risk they cause of blood clots....

Does anyone know why Actiq cannot be sugar free? It works pretty well for my migraines but it's doing a number on my teeth. I know that Fentora is sugar free, but have heard it doesn't work as well and is not as long lasting as Actiq. ## I can't find any details on this, but my first guess is that it probably has to do with disguising the taste of the medication. Fentanyl is a narcotic and they are known to be very bitter and it would take a lot to make sure that they didn't completely gross someone out. In addition, the use of actual sugars as a sweetener opens them up to a much broader market, as many people can't use artificial sweeteners for various reasons. Any regular, long-term use of narcotics will harm your teeth, which is why most drug addicts or long-term ...

I am 57 + having high blood sugar level for the past 18 months. I am regularly taking Voglistar gm1 for the past 16 months. I am a vegetarian. My blood sugar PP ranges between 200 - 360. I am not feeling any type of deficiency. I regularly go for a brisk walk in the morning for about 3 to 4 Kilometers daily. ## While you are a vegetarian, it is also still essential to ask what types of foods you eat? Many fruits and vegetables can contain sugars, which can cause your blood sugar to become high. How much do you eat at each meal? How often do you have a meal? The NIH lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, diarrhea, and hypoglycemia.

I have recently found out that my sugar level in my blood is 170. Took a zpack streroids for plantars facia, 60 days ago. Began taking metFORMIN 40 days ago. Also have hypoglycemia (take levothyroxine 150mcg). Also have arthritis take sulfasalazine, plaquenal and mobic. I am male, 52 yrs old, 30 to 40 pds overweight. Is it possible the blood count is still high from taking the steroids? Should I expect it to go back to normal in any certain time? Feel like dr.s are overreacting to level of sugar in my blood. ## A Z-Pack doesn't contain steroids, it contains the antibiotic Azithromycin and that shouldn't upset your blood sugar levels. It is also doubtful that a steroid would still have an effect on them 60 days later. And Hypglycemia is high blood sugar/diabetes and wouldn't ...

Thus, any antidiabetic medications being taken may need to be adjusted frequently. In some cases, a doctor may be reluctant to prescribe it, due to all of the possible complications that could occur. I have taken thyroid medicine for most of my life, but just recently I have noticed that my Synthroid , 100 Mcg pill has a sugary, sweet taste to it. Why has this occurred, and what exactly is the reason for it? ## Hello, Einnor! How are you? Some manufactured use sugars or a sweetener in some medications. What are the markings on it? That would enable me to check the specific ingredients for you. However, you also should not be tasting your pill. If you're tasting it, then you're not taking it properly. The pill should be placed as far back on your tongue, as possible, short of choking on it and then immediately swallowed with water.

I'm taking lo-ogrstrel. I've already taken several days of my sugar pills, but I haven't gotten my period yet. If I skip the remaining sugar pills and jump ahead to the next month, will I still be able to skip my period? ## Hello, Piper! How are you? It's doubtful, but you could ask your doctor about doing it. However, according to the FDA information, your period is usually brought on by the break from hormones, which you've already had for a few days, so there's still a chance that it may start. Side effects to oral contraceptives are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headaches, weight gain and PMS like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

Tri-sprintec pack of birth control pills my daughter just started this month. She got to the 4th row of white pills and stopped taking the pills. I think she thinks they are sugar pills. What is in the 4th row, should she take the 7 days of white ones? She only missed 2. TX! ## Yes, they are essentially sugar pills. She should take them just as a reminder tho; she may remember this time, but over the months/years one could forget... ## That is correct, they are placebo pills that are meant to keep her in the habit of taking them. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irregular bleeding, mood changes, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

UGH I should have NEVER skipped the pills and started a new pack. Yes, it delayed bleeding for about 3 days for my anniversary but this isn't worth it. I've been now bleeding for 2 weeks straight. Mostly spotting the last few days but heavy at the time I take the pill each day. I'm almost at the end of the 3rd week and want to know... should I just take the sugar pills and continue bleeding and then everything will go back to the way it was? Or should I skip them again and start a new pack? I don't want to bleed anymore. It's making me so moody and I'm breaking out and crying. I've been on this for 2 years and never had an issue until trying to skip my period. I think it's time to get a monophasic. HELP. ## Hello, Kate! How are you feeling? I'm sorry ...
