i have been on nuvigil for 5 gays 150 mg the first 3 days i felt great awake during the day and slept great at night. now when i take it I feel tired 3 hrs after i take it like i could take a nap. does that mean i need to take a higher dose or can i cut the pill in half and take it twice a day ## Hi there, I have been taking nuvigil for about a year now. I have severe narcolepsy & the 150mg did absolutely nothing for me either. I contacted my neurologist & he didn't hesitate to up my dose to 250mg & it immediately worked for me. Contrary to what most people believe, It all depends on how severe your sleep disorder is, and has nothing to do with your weight, gender, or age. I'm a 27 year old female, 125 lbs, 5'7". I just recently started having to take an extr...

My husband has been taking Cheratussin AC 10-100MG/5ML. He has not slept since he started taking it. (over 46 hours). He has bronchitis and is coughing a lot. Should he not take this. He is 73 and no sleep concerns me. ## I'm not sure what might be causing his insomnia, it could be due to the coughing itself, that can make it very hard to sleep. The medication shouldn't cause it, since one of the ingredients is Codeine, which usually causes drowsiness. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is he taking anything else? Has he gotten any sleep, yet?

Hypnotic (also called soporific) drugs are a class of psychoactives whose primary function is to induce sleep[1] and to be used in the treatment of insomnia, and in surgical anesthesia. When used in anesthesia to produce and maintain unconsciousness, "sleep" is metaphorical as there are no regular sleep stages or cyclical natural states; patients rarely recover from anesthesia feeling refreshed and with renewed energy. Because drugs in this class generally produce dose-dependent effects, rang...

SIDE EFFECTS ## I HAVE RETURNED MY PURCHASE OF AMBESLEEP BECAUSE IT DID NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT FOR ME..... I WAS ASKING IF IT EVER HAD DIARRHEA AFFECT ON ANYONE???? THANKS ## AmbeSleep is an over the counter supplement, so while they claim this is aids in sleep and has no side effects, neither one of these claims is actually proven and it is already well-known that some herbal supplements have just as many side effects as prescription drugs. AmbeSleep contains Valerian Root, Magnolia Bark, Melatonin, GABA, Lavender, Chamomile, Hops, Corydalis, Passion Flower, Magnesium, Vitamin B6 and Zinc. Supplements can also react adversely with other medications and cause problems with some health conditions, so you should not use this, without consulting your doctor. Is it ok to take 1 ALEAVE pm every night for muscle pain and help too sleep? ## Hello, Spice guy! How are you? I'm sorry you're in pain and having trouble sleeping. Over the counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories are really only intended for short-term occasional use, because there can be risks associated with their long-term use, such as liver damage or stomach damage. The best thing to do would be to use it for a short period of time, while waiting to see your doctor to get too the root of the problem and find a proper and safer solution. The FDA lists possible side effects as including nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I had a sleep study done. The doctor said I had sleep apnea but not the kind where the tounge blocks the airway. He said my brain actually cuts off at times during sleep. Has anyone else ever heard of this. If so can this be treated or can it be fatal ## This is not a post, it was suggested that I give more information since there has been no response to my original question. When I was still a fetus, the doctors told my mother that she would have to remian in bed for the last 6 months of her pregnancy. They told her if she did this that they still could not guarantee a live birth or a baby born without birth defects. She smoked througout her pregnancy against the advice of the doctors. When I was born, I was 21 inches long, but less than 5lbs. There were no apparant physical defects ex...

Help, any solutions to the 24 hour sleepiness, ## sleepiness due to what? ## My 14 year old daughter is trying Lyrica for serious migraine headaches. She has to take it at bedtime because she gets so sleepy from it. It never wore off. The plan was to increase the dose to one in the morning as well as at bedtime; however, she was never able to tolerate that. We tried it in the morning for well over two weeks but she could not get past the sleepiness. ## Yes it is Lyrcia, I have discussed it with my physician, we have tried a 25 mg dose, it did not help the burning pain, the lowest dose I can take and have it work is 50 x 2 day. I have tried numerous drugs over the last 4 years, this has been the best one yet, takes away all the tenderness, burning, belive it or not I have had adverse rea...

Hi there. My son is 9, just started 18 mg of Concerta 3 days ago. Already he has had trouble sleeping. Didn't fall of til close to midnight and lost at least 3 hrs. of his usual sleep. I'm worried this is going to be counterproductive for him. Any advice? Thank you! ## It is a stimulant medication, so it can cause insomnia, especially when someone first starts taking it. This is a side effect that should wear off in a few weeks, after his body adjusts to the medication. I do, however, understand your concern, as this can be disruptive in many ways, especially to his education, so you might wish to speak to his doctor if it continues, he may need a low dosage or a different medication. What time of day is he taking it? It is usually best that it be taken in the morning, so the wo...

Advertised on tv,sleep med starting with L,for long term use I think non narcotic, without side effects of others ## my son has a sleeping problem, he usually sleeps about midnight everyday coz he find it hard to sleep, do i need to take him to a doctor or can i jst buy some sleeping meds for him at the drugstore?OJF ## To the original poster, were you possibly referring to Lunesta? It is used for the short term treatment of insomnia. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, sleep actions, odd taste in mouth, and hallucinations. Liza, it would be best to consult his doctor to discover the root of the problem. How old is he? Is he on any medications? Does he have any diagnosed medical disorders?

Been on 75 mgs of Zoloft for 3 weeks, I was tired a lot before taking it but now I'm even more tired. My question is would maybe jumping up to 150 help this? I was told the tiredness was likely from depression (had all blood tests run to see if it was anything else. Thanks ## Hello, Gary! How are you feeling? Tiredness and drowsiness are among the possible side effects of Zoloft, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. However, it should wear off and improve in severity, as your body gets used to the medication, so it may take 4 weeks, or so. Raising the dosage could actually just make it worse. These medications tend to cause REM Onset Latency which means your don't enter the REM phase of sleep as fast as usual and don...
