What is psoriasis? What causes psoriasis? Is there a cure or treatment for psoriasis? Psoriasis is a skin condition, it is a disease, but it is not contagious. The name comes from the Greek word for itch. It can be hereditary, caused by external influences (allergic reaction to foods or the environment) and sometimes stress. 4-5% of the population is known to be affected, and this number is growing. My wife has been suffering from Psoriasis for the last 4 years but for the 3 months it has been spread out heavily with Red spods on her whole body including scalp. So we are using Propysalic NF ointment. My question is how long will it take remove completely. ## Hello, Govinda! How are you and your wife? Propysalic is listed as containing a steroid, so it may cause some side effects, as listed by the FDA, which could include skin redness, irritation, acne and dryness. It also should only be used for a period of 2 to 4 weeks, if there is no improvement after that, she'll need to return to her doctor to explore other treatment options. There are also no guarantees that it will remove it completely, even if she uses it for a full month. How long will she be using it? ## Hi. I have bee...

I've been on OTEZLA for 6 weeks. I also treat my psoriasis with a steroid ointment and a clobetasol FOAM for my scalp. I have to say nausea is the worst side effect I have from it. OTEZLA says you can take it with no dietary restrictions but I think you should eat 30 minutes prior to taking it. Migraines are the other thing I get frequently since taking it. ## Hello, Chelsie! How are you doing? Those can be typical side effects, as reported by the manufacturer, Celgene. You may also experience dizziness, diarrhea, fatigue, and runny nose. In such cases, where nausea is bad, most doctors or pharmacists do recommend that you make sure to take the medication with food, but it is always a good idea to double check, just in case. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Anybody take Ot...

Has there been any work done on using Melatonin as a possible assistor in controlling psoriasis. ## Based on what I've read, there actually have been studies demonstrating Melatonin's promising benefits for managing psoriasis. According to an article on Livestrong, "It is suggested that the role of melatonin in psoriasis should probably be further investigated, as it appears that this hormone might be linked with two other hormones (growth hormone, also known as GH, and prolactin), which also appear to be lower in patients with psoriasis." I would keep in mind though that melatonin and other natural supplements shouldn't be used to replace any drugs or therapies recommended by your doctor. However from personal experience, I know that a healthy diet may also improve ...

I do not have any skin signs of psoriasis but I do have swollen joints. Does anyone else take this drug for this symptom alone without the psoriasis? ## I have same. The typical side effects of Otezla may include nausea, headache, loss of appetite, and weight loss. Have you started it, yet, Bonnie? If so, has it helped? Is there anyone else on this medication that can share their experiences?

Is Quadriderm nf good for psoriasis? FYI, yes I do see a dermatologist for it. I'm just wondering if this would work as well? ## There is a chance that it might, but it can also worsen some skin issues, so it should not be taken, unless your doctor approves. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including skin redness, irritation, and flaking. What other medications do you use to treat it?

My husband suffering from psoriasis... Will this evion skin cream helps his condition? ## This is just a skin cream that contains vitamin E, so it will not likely help much with such a condition. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including skin redness and irritation. What treatment has his physician advised? ## What OTC cream can I use for scalp psoriasis? It is about the size of a half dollar at the base of my neck. I was prescribed clobetasol propionate foam. It worked well, but came back within a month. Big problem is it was $600 with a co-pay of $300, which I can not afford. I don't expect it to go away as fast and will keep it up after clearing.

I was prescribed sulfameth trimeth ds 800 160, taking 2 tablets twice a day for 10 days to treat an infection located on the top of my foot. I completed taking all the pills as directed, two days later I was feeling drowsy and nausea and developed a rash over a large area of my abdomen and arms. If the rash is a side effect of the antibiotic how should I treat it? Doctors believe I have developed psoriasis could they be wrong? ## Hello, Adriano! How are you? This antibiotic can cause a rash, as a side effect. If it is due to taking it, then it should go away on its own after you've been off of it for about 2 weeks. If it doesn't improve, after that time, then you'll need to see your doctor for treatment. Is there anything else I can help with?
