Has anyone noticed that taking generic Paxil is not as effective as the real deal? I'm having a terrible time with recurring anxiety symptoms. ## While patients may experience slight differences between medications, the generic market is highly regulated in both the U.S. and Australia (where I live). The drug concentration is the same within the tablet, it will have the same absorption profile, same extent of absorption. Therefore in all likelyhood it should work exactly the same (within acceptable limits) as the original brand. The only changes present could be due to the inactive ingredients within the formulation which a patient may be sensitive or intolerant to. While this does not affect the effectiveness of the medication it may introduce side-effects.

I take generic sedapap with butalbital 50mg and 650mg acetaminophen. Last time I received my insurance company's mail away pharmacy filled script, it was filled with 325mg of acetaminophen. My charge card on file was charged 4 times what I previously paid at the previous acetaminophen dosage, I called them & the pharmacist told me it is no longer made at 650mg (ok, I get it: acetaminophen & liver damage potential), and dose change & patent increased cost (but my bottle was labeled generic & rx identifier verified it was generic). 325mg is non-formulary (they probably didn't anticipate change to 325mg when developed annual formulary). Pharm called MD for order change (but didn't get order for refills & he canceled the 650mg order - including the refills). ...

Is there a genaric Benacar available? ## The corrected spelling of this medication is Benicar and it contains the active ingredient Olmesartan. It is used to treat high blood pressure. A generic form of this medication will be available in 2016 once the patent expires.

Zomig patent has just expired November 14, 2012. When will Zomic have a generic here in the United States. ## It's really always a bit of a guessing game. Even though the original patent has expired, there are ways that the company can get extensions. Additionally, those that are wanting to manufacture generic versions also have to go through the FDA testing and approval process. Learn more Zomig details here. Are there any other questions or comments?

My doctor and insurance are now forcing me to wear the patch for 72 hrs instead of my usual 48 hr change. I am having a very rough time after about the 30 hour mark once the patch goes into half live. What is the closest generic patch that matches the Duragesic brand? I am finding that all generics are not close to the brand. ## I used to be on fentanyl patches for years and I had to change them every 48 hours or I went into withdrawals. I live in the tropics and apart from rapid absorption after 2 days a layer of fat and salt film accumulates between the adhesive and the skin reducing delivery. ## I was on the fentanyl patch for years for my chronic pancreatitis. The brand/generic thing is complicated when it comes to painting meds especially the patch versions. Their delivery systems ...

As of june 26,2013 Do they still have available the generic opana 40mlg er on stock or backorder at pharmacies in Sacramento,ca.....?? ## Hi Frank, Unfortunately there's no real way of knowing what any pharmacies have in stock at any given moment. Inventories constantly change on a moment to moment basis as patients fill prescriptions and pick up orders. Calling them generally isn't recommend either, since many pharmacists are trained to say no to a stranger on the phone asking for narcotics. So one would essentially have to go in person (with your script in hand) to a particular pharmacy in order to ask if they have what you need in stock. I hope this helps! ## Yeah i do understand About people calling asking the pharmacy if they have a certain narcotic but they should be able ...

149 ## Sorry, you have not provided enough information for me to check and see what this is for you. We are always happy to help, but you must provide the COMPLETE IMPRINT on the pill, the color, and shape. There are several pills, both prescription and over the counter that have the number 149 on them, so that doesn't tell us enough. There IS NOT however a generic Allegra with that number. As a matter of fact, Allegra, Fexofenadine, is not available as a generic yet, the company still owns the proprietary patent.

Does anyone know when a generic suboxone will be available ## Suboxone first received FDA approval in 2002 and the exclusivity patent will run out on August 30, 2013, but the doesn't necessarily mean that a generic will become available at that time. Learn more Suboxone details here. Are you having trouble affording this medication? ## The generic suboxone came out in February of this year..2013. I know this because i have them. They are white, have a half-moon on one side, and 155 on the other. They are much harder than the Orange tabs making them easier to break & proportion. Hope this helps.

Hi, Read Ambien CR is NOT available in >genericANY< ambien out of the country? (I have the prescription) ## No, at this time Ambien CR, in the U.S. is still under proprietary patent and is not available for generic production. I am not aware of what is available in other countries. Have you considered talking to your doctor about trying the regular Ambien that is not time released? It is available as the generic Zolpidem.

Zomig patent has just expired November 14, 2012. When will Zomic have a generic here in the United States. ## It will likely take awhile yet, before a generic becomes available. Anthem pathway is not covering Folbic. What can I get instead? ## Hello, Meatbe! How are you? Folbic is just a potent multivitamin, there are various others available, so you should just ask your doctor to prescribe an alternative that your insurance will cover, or that is available as a generic. The FDA information shows that some people experience nausea, after taking this, due to how potent they are. Is there anything else I can help with?

is there a generic pill for livalo? ## Information I've gathered states the following: A generic version of Livalo (pitavastatin) is not available. This medication is protected by patents and exclusivity rights that prevent a generic version of the drug from being manufactured in the United States. The earliest predictable date that a generic Livalo product could become available is in May or June 2015, after the first patent expires. NOTE: Pitavastatin is the active ingredient in Livalo, but it is not a generic version of it. Once the drug goes off-patent, there may be several companies that manufacture a generic Livalo drug. I hope this information helps!

I'm in Massachusetts and just lost my Blue Cross that was covering the Duragesic Jansen 100 and 25 mg patches. Now I'm on Massachusetts Health and they won't cover the brand name, which compared to the generic is a big difference in the amount of Fentanyl. For example the 100 has 16.8mg of Fentanyl per patch vs the generic only has 10.55 by mylan. The 25 only has 2.4 I believe and the brand name is 4.2. That's a big difference to me when these name brand are barely making my pain tolerable. I've been on the generic before and they are definitely not even close to the brand name. My question is, I found the generic brand Sandoz that has equivalent amount of medicine in each patch but I cant find pharmacies that carry it or that will order it for me. Like I said I'...

I've been on butrans patch 20 mcg. For over a year. Suddenly I've been switched to the generic form of butrans. The brand Butrans is best for me because the generic is giving me an upset stomach with headaches and nausea. I feel sick on the generic butrans. I'm sure it's not a good substitute for the brand. The brand Butrans is better medicine in so many ways and more effective. The generic butrans makes me sick. I wish doctors and insurance companies would listen to the patients and stop pushing medicine on me that makes me sick and doesn't work for me and I'm sure many other people will have the same problem. It's dangerous to play with people's lives and switch medicine suddenly from butrans brand to butrans generic!!! Generic doesn't work! I'm...

Just called Cosco pharmacy and the price of a 30 tabs is $99.50.You do not have to be a cosco member to use the pharmacy. ## @RIlley, Thanks for sharing the good news! I've always thought that you had to have a membership to even walk in there. Do you find that $99 is a good price for 30 tabs compared to Walgreens, CVS, and other brig chain pharmacies? Generally Costco members get some sort of discount, but I'm curious to know if pharmacy patients reap any additional benefits as well for using their services. ## I'm wanting to warn you to be careful, find out who is manufacturer of the generic, I've been seeing bad things about Costco getting from 3rd world co. Etc.. Ask your pharmacist who's making what they're carrying

Why is the genetic for Imuran considered a specialty drug by Express Scripts? My husband took this med for years without being a specialty drug. Do you know why or is this just a ploy by Express Scripts to allow them to charge the patient more? ## It really depends upon them and their criteria for various medications and their coverage. Most insurance plans usually set up a certain formulary with various tiers, the lowest prices are usually for generics that have been available for a long time, and maintenance medications, then it goes up from there, depending on the availability of the medication, as well other criteria. Thus, it isn't likely to change much, even if you used a regular pharmacy, such as Walgreen's. The pharmacy, whether mail order, or physical, actually are not ...

When was the generic form of Exforge 10-320mg tabs become available to the public ## Hello, Kim! How are you? It was just approved in 2007, so it will likely be several more years, before a generic is available. The exclusive patent rights for prescription medications usually last for about 20 years, then they can file appeals to prevent generics from being released for even longer periods of time. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, increased urination and hypotension. If it is too expensive for you, there are similar medications that are available as generics, so you may want to ask your doctor about them. Is there anything else I can help with?
