Pain Medication Withdrawal

I started taking Oxicodone or at that time it was Vicodin for pain 15 years ago. It started with one tablet in the morning and one in the afternoon. As the years went by and the pain increased due to two separate health issues I started taking Oxicodone 10mg 2-3 at a time four times daly. That comes to a total of approximately 120 mg a day. Now that costs the insurance a lot of money and it has become very hard to get. It has been getting so difficult to get. And it is dangerous to have because the younger people want to steal it. How would I go about withdrawing from it if I could learn to live in pain. Or perhaps you could suggest something different. ## Ithink you have to go into a detox, because your taking it too long and your blood pressure might go up while withdrawing plus seziur...

I have been on pain meds for over 2 years now and 4 days ago I quit cold turkey. How long will the hell of withdrawal continue? ## Hello, Misfit! How are you feeling? It can really vary depending on what you were taking and how high your dosage was, but the worst of it shouldn't last longer than a week or two. If they get very severe, then you should seek medical attention. What were you taking and how much? ## taking oxycodone 5mg tabs and taking only 3 a day for at least 2 years straight. dont think that is a lot, but it has been hell since i stopped.

Please help!! ## Im out of my pain med and don't know what to do because i'm in so much pain rights now i'm crys ## I'm sorry Robert. I'm out too. I had to go on suboxone so I don't have withdrawals. It doesn't help my pain. I had to go this way until I find a doctor that will help me ## Good luck. Take to your prescribing doctor to see if they can help. It’s your only chance. ## Why did you not set this up before hand? You should have had your doctor connect you with someone where you live.

How long due the withdrawal from pain pills last? ## It can really depend on how long you were taking them and the dosage, this can also affect how severe the withdrawals are. If you were using them as prescribed and had been taking them for awhile, then you can expect the withdrawal effects to last anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. You may experience various effects, including: nausea, diarrhea, sweating, chills, fever, anxiety and rebound pain. You can read more here: Opiate Withdrawals Click here Is there anything else I can help you with? ## what can i do when my doctor fotgot to prescribe my prescription on oxicodone 30mg on my due date and y go thru withdrawels.

Hi, my name is Scott. I've been on roughly 180-240mgs of 30mg roxicodone for going on six yrs now. Several yrs back I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and as time went by things got a lot worse. Well about a yr ago I went in for a doc visit and my doc told me he was retiring. And due to the past, my drug panels have shown up positive for thc. So there wasn't another doctor around that would prescribe me pain meds again. My doc gave me one last script to "so called" wean myself off of them. And I asked him how long it would take for the w.d. to go away? He said at that point oh a couple days and everything will be fine again. Boy was he dead wrong! It's been actually around a yr since he has prescribed them to me and since then like I said earlier I was ta...

For the past 4 days except for today I have been taking 8mg of suboxone, today I took 3-7.5 mg of Vicodin to no effect I'm guessing because of my blocked receptors, I'm looking to just continue my suboxone use, do I have to wait even though the suboxone already blocked everything, or will I go into precipitated withdrawals because there are opiates in my system? Thx ## @Curious, If you haven't received any kind of effect from taking a single vicodin, my opinion is that you should be fine to continue using suboxone as you were. However because I am not a doctor I would still encourage you to seek professional medication advice regarding this just to be on the safe side. There are also those here who have a lot of personal experience switching between the two and can offer a m...

My husband has used fentanyl patches for years for chronic pain. He's been on the lowest dosage for at least 2 years and suddenly he's having terrible withdrawals for no reason. He has been on higher dosages before and the lowest dosage is good enough for his pain. These withdrawals are a nightmare for him and me. He had withdrawals then 2 days later withdrawals again even though both times he had a fresh patch on. Does anyone know why this would happen? Does a body just decide to reject it after a length of time? The patches are fresh, he used some from this box already, so it's not the batch of patches. ## Hi I used the patch n went down did not have withdrawals he shouldn't be Id quite taking them and get to the Pharmacy good Luck ## Hi AGrandma! Has anyone out there come off of fentanyl delivered thru a pain pump?? I've gone from 1.9 mcg/day to .385. At what point can the pump be safely shut down. I'm going to have the pump removed soon. But feel my Dr is not sure how to completely get me off it. ## Are you not seeing a pain specialist then? Because they should be specially trained in handling this type of thing. It's really difficult for anyone else, including a general practitioner, to know, because much of it depends on you and how severely you react to the withdrawal of such medications. I am a RSD patient that felt fortunate I only took 3 1/2 years to be diagnosed. For the last 8 years , in East Tn,I have been taking oxycontin and oxycodone, now some new law is passed and I can no longer get my Rx from my pain Dr, because they don't have the license required to be able to write Rx as large as my past (which I have become very use to & are working less than in pass) so I am sent to a clinic with this license. All if a sudden I am being treated like a hard core criminal trying to scam them, with my current MRI's and nerve diagnostics! I was photographed and then filmed after the ua stating my name and date of birth as I put urine in bag to be sent off to San Diego for a 16 panel analysis that cost $1,137, for the ua! My husband's medication is missing he has been taking 6 to 8 20mg of norco at a time for 8 years for small fiber peripheral neuropathy. We don't know what happened to his pills. They are just gone. He is left with his Lyrics and Fentenal patch. What kind if withdrawals is he looking at suffering through? His legs are jumping and has hardly slept. Not to mention the pain. How long will it last? ## Hi angela, Sorry to hear about your husband's situation with losing his pills. I can't imagine how that might feel after being on them for 8 years and suddenly not knowing where they are... Have you checked all the random places they could end up (i.e. jacket pockets, laundry room, under the car seat, etc..)? At any rate, regarding opiate withdrawals...NIH.gov notates the follow...

Hi all, I was on 50mg patch and lots of tablets. I have Behçet's disease so the patch helps a lot. But I'm fed up being like I'm on another planet some days so I spoke to my doctor and he said to lower it to a 25mg patch. This is my 3rd day. The first couple days I was very sleepy but now my whole body is aching and I can't relax. My body keeps shaking, I can't sit still and it's now 2.30 am and I'm wide awake. Is there anything else I can do to help? Many thanks. ## Hello, Chris! How are you? That was a pretty big dosage change, so such withdrawal effects are normal, as listed by the U.S. FDA, you may also experience rebound pain, fever, chills and diarrhea. Has there been any change? A slower taper would likely be better. ## What other medications are ...

I've been prescribed a large dose of OxyContin, 360 mgs. per day, + 180 mgs. of Roxycodone per day. Both have been upped over three years for several problems related to my bones, and now cancer. I get terrified that I'll lose them and if I do, will the Drs. replace them? If not, what would be prescribed to get me through the withdrawals? I have heard withdrawals are horrendous and can't imagine going through that on top of cancer and my other issues. I've asked and have been told to just NEVER lose or misplace them. The rules and regulations of the pain management clinic I go to state over and over that they do not replace lost or stolen medications and do not refill early. What does someone do if it does happen? I live in CT. ## If your meds are stolen call the cops an...

I've been taking Percocets for 16 months for cancer related pain, then for peripheral neuropathy pain in my arms and legs, hands and feet, caused from the chemotherapy treatments. At this time I'm usually taking no more than 4-6 a day (5/325). My trouble now is I'm concerned that the pain I'm experiencing (in my legs mostly) could be withdrawal symptoms. I don't know how to tell the difference. All I know is that I feel like I'm going crazy with leg pain and restless legs until I take my first 2 pills then I'm good until bedtime. Is this an unwarranted worry or could it be time I try to get off of them? ## Hello, Curly! How are you? It's actually hard to say, but withdrawal shouldn't occur that fast. I'm confused!!! In this thread, Gabapentin and Pregabapentin are said to be the same drug then someone else says no, they're difference. I CANNOT take Gabapentin as it makes me crazy and angry. Is Pregabapentin going to do the same??? Also is there ANYTHING else anyone can think of to get off of Oxycodone??? I've been addicted for 15 years and a heavy user due to true pain. The last time I ran out I almost died. Can someone please help me with any suggestion other than rehab or Suboxone to get off of this??? Thank you!!! ## Hello, Diva! How are you? I'm in withdrawal. how long does it take? ## There is no certain answer to this, it depends on how long you have been taking it and how much you have been taking. It can vary from several days to as much as 2 weeks. ## i would like to know how long withdrawl takes from roxicodone ## just deal with it. Dear sir I have been taking Sizopin 25 and Trinicalm plus for the last 2 years and suddenly stopped. Over the last 2 months I developed back pain and muscle pain. Is it a true withdrawal symptom? ## Yes, it could be, according to the NIH. Other withdrawal effects are listed as possibly including nausea, diarrhea, rebound depression, and anxiety. Why did you stop taking them? If your symptoms worsen, or don't go away soon, you should have yourself checked out by your doctor. ## My brother was on sizopin 100mg for 5 months and his doctor advised him to stop taking it, but after that he is always irritated. ## Is it possible to stop Sizopin 100mg gradually without withdrawal symptoms? {edited for privacy} ## How to stop clozapine 50 my son is taking since last 14 years how to stop cloz...

I was on 10mg of Abilify for at least 5 years as an add-on to my anti-depressant for my major depressive disorder, on top of my bulimia and anxiety. I went down to 5mg in the last year I was on it. I had no idea it had such bad physical withdrawal effects. My old doctor told me to wean off of it last year when I decided I didn't need it anymore, but did not give me any sort any sort of percentage or schedule. I got terribly sick about a month and a half after I weaned off of it for only 2 weeks and didn't even make the connection right away. So I've been taking 2.5mg every 35-45days for the past year... basically every time I get sick. Now I have terrible joint pain, which I thought was arthritis (I'm only 36 years old) and I just went to an orthopedist and she found no ...
