Hi, I have had chronic back pain for years and have seen various doctors for the problem. Most have prescribed either tramadol or hydrocodone along with muscles relaxers sometimes. I've also tried a round of steroids (prednisone) as well as non pharmaceutical options like physical therapy, stretching and light exercise when I can tolerate it in an effort to strengthen my core. Most of these treatments have helped to some degree but the pain inevitably returns (and really many of the medications have only slightly dulled the pain but I still have had difficulty getting through the day even when taking them. So my question is, are there any sympathetic docs in the Austin area (or north like Cedar Park or Leander) who are willing to prescribe stronger pain meds and muscle relaxers anym...

Opioids have been the least of all evils for pain relief. We have tried with various anti inflammatories. Those wreaked havoc on my kidneys. I was just informed by my PCP that this will be the last month she can help me with my monthly opioids. I am scared to death and sick at my stomach. I have suffered from depression in the past and this type of pain killer gave me a sense of normalcy. She wants to refer me to a pain clinic. I have heard and read horr...

Does anyone know of any pain man. Dr's. In WA state who listen's to patient's & are willing to help? ## Hello, Sam! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. There are plenty of doctors that listen and are willing to help, but they do have to be cautious, so they'll want your prior medical records, they'll want you to undergo testing and they'll want you to try various treatment options, rather than just resorting to pain medications. Do you currently have a PCP that might be able to refer you to someone? If so, that might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. What area of WA are you in? This information might enable someone to recommend a good doctor in you area. For instance, I am just outside Seattle, but a doctor here i...

I HAVE ISSUES LUPUS ARTHRITUS BRAIN TUMOR AND NOW WAITING FOR ONCOLOGY DR TO SEE IF I HAVE CANCER MY DOCTOR WOULD NOT CALL ME BACK I WAS ON VACATION FAR AWAY LOST ALL MEDS NEEDED AT LEAST STOMACH PILLS THEY WOULD NOT CALL ME BACK (MOVED HERE ABOUT 1 YR AGO)TERXE ## Hi Kay, Unfortunately, no one can know ahead of time what a doctor is or is not willing to prescribe, as that is based on the doctor's discretion and not solely on someone else's previous appointment. Some advice I can give you is to not specifically ask for any 'specific medication' when you see a new doctor. Make sure to transfer or take a copy of all your medical records with you. Then, the best approach is to discuss up front and honestly what has or hasn't worked for you in the past. Most doctors will...

I am looking for a compassionate doctor in the Richmond VA area who will prescribe pain medication. ## HI, BlueBell! How are you? The current situation isn't that doctors aren't compassionate, it's that there are strict regulations in place regarding what they can and cannot prescribe, how much they can prescribe, how long they can prescribe it and why they can prescribe it. It's really tied their hands in many cases. If you have a condition that requires strong pain medications for long-term treatment of chronic pain, then your best bet is most likely going to be to see a pain management specialist. Do you have a general practitioner that you see regularly who may be able to refer you to someone? Does anyone else know of a good doctor in that area? ## I do know a pain d...

Plz, does anyone know any drs that prescribe Methadone for pain in Tappahannock or Richmond Va. area? ## Had spinal stenosis surgery, triple lactomactomy and when I came out was way worse. My surgeon said to go to their pain management and get an idea of what they came up with on file for any doctor to see or said to call them and they would help come up with a plan. They had me on methadone and oxycodone. My surgery was in 2009. I tried not to get on methadone. I was nervous. Turned out it worked very well but I'm now living in a state where everyone has a problem abusing or not needing and doctors writing them regardless. This had led to where you now can't get any help. If anyone knows of anyone in Virginia that will look at your records, your surgeon request and pain special...

I'm getting up in my yrs am 62 wish to find doctor who can prescribe dolphins don't really care for subutex but at this age to hard on me going into a clinic everyday for the rest of my life. Oh they don't cater to wheelchairs go figure. ## Hello, Debbie! How are you? If you've already been going to a clinic, then that is your only option. It would be illegal for a private practice doctor to prescribe it for you. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I'm sorry, I know it's not the news most people want to hear, but that is the way the current law stands. However, if you're just looking for pain treatment and not...
