I am wondering about trying Vyvance to treat narcolepsy. I currently take dextrostat 30 mg 3 times a day and since it is now generic dextrostat, it is absolutely not effective at all. Can I have feedback either on Vyvanse or any other drugs that you have found to be effective. Thank you and I look forward to your replies ## my brother in law's brother has had this problem for years and believe it or not he takes ritilin(I hope spelled right has helped him (no problems or side effects. Hope thie helps you. ## Hi, I have been taking Vivance 70 mg for about 3 months now because I have been diagnosed with a mild case of narcolepsy. Hi. I was previosly prescribed 250mg of Tridural daily, with 5mg-10mg Oxy-contin every four hours, If required, to deal with chronic left and right knee pain. I had a mild stroke in December, I fell twice while in hospital landed on both knees. Put a 5 mm crack in one knee-cap badly bruised the other. I am 54yrs old, slim build. My knees apparently resemble a 70 yr olds (according to X-Rays & M.R.I's) My meds have now been changed to Hydromorph contin 9mg there times daily (total 27mg), with 2mg-3mg every two to four hours PMS-Hydromorphone when required. Can someone possibly explain the change? Also now on numerous heart drugs. ## The Hydromorphone is a much stronger narcotic to help control pain, which is probably why they switched you to it. It is a narcotic, so it may cause s...

My Dr. says this is a narcotic and will only fill once a month. I'M 70 yrs old never n my life have I had to do this. ## Hello, Helen! How are you? It's not a narcotic, but it's a benzodiazepine, which is another controlled substance. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. That is normal, now, for all controlled substances. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is there any pain meds a person can take, where a doctor will issue 90 days? I use mail order so it's much cheaper but they only do 90 days.

My doctor put me on this drug as a replacement for oxycodone and it does nothing for my chronic rsd are there other pain meds that will give me the relief like oxycodone did. ## Because everyone reacts differently to prescription drugs (especially narcotic pain meds), there's really no way to tell ahead of time how any medication will effect you. Some patients may get great pain relief from Nucynta, while others may have to opt for oxycodone, hydrocodone (vicodin), opana, or dilaudid, for the same relief. Have you already asked your doctor about switching medications to something that may be more effective? ## Yes,I will see my regular pain management dr. In a week and ask to go on something else, they told me oxycodone was taken off the market, the pharmiscy said that its still ava...

used in the 70's when we had menstrual cramps. The side effects included a strange feeling in your body, loss of appetite, calmness, just wanted to sit and feel good, made everything in the world wonderful, Very addictive. ## I'm sorry, but from this description, I really have no idea what it may have been. These side effects are common to many medications, both old and new and the description really doesn't help narrow it down. It could have been anything from a narcotic to an early Benzodiazepine. Does anyone else remember what this was? ## this pill i believe was called daprazol although i may not be spelling it right but thats how we pronounced it. Many of us guys had girlfriends who had prescriptions for these pills for menstrual cramps in the 1970s. So of course we beg...

My oxycontin 40 mg. doesn't work very well anymore and $700.00 a month is too much! ## Hello, Maemae! How are you? Yes, it is also a narcotic, so it's a controlled substance that also requires a prescription. However, it is very habit forming and should be a last resort choice, not your first, if your current medication isn't working. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? You might just need a dosage adjustment. ## Hi Verwon, thank you for your response. My doctor is my Fibromyalgia Specialist and she made the comment that if I am still feeling pain after "that much medication" then it obviously isn't working and she didn't feel comfortable with increasing the dosage. I have an appointment with a Pain Specialist the middle of February so I hope he wi...

Is the darvoset a run off darvons cause my mom turned into the hulk when she took them in the 70's ? I like. Percocettes the don't mess with my stomach. ## Darvocet and Darvon both contained the mild narcotic Propoxyphene, which has been removed from the market due to the risk it caused of cardiotoxicity. Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, it is must stronger and still available via prescription. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

BLUE AND WHITE CAPSULE ## It's vyvance it's a methamphetamine salt used for adhd. I just took one ^^ ## The Vyvanse that I've found similar to this has the marking S489 and 70mg, it is manufactured by Shire U.S. and they list it as containing 70mgs of Lisdexamfetamine, which is most commonly used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy. It is a stimulant. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, mood changes, anorexia, and irritability. However, I cannot find one that is blue and white. The one I mentioned is listed as being blue and orange. Is anyone else familiar with a blue and orange one?

What was the main active ingredient in the pills that were known as speed or white cross during the 70's and 80's? They were small white tablets with a cross or X scored on one side. ## Speed typically contained Amphetamines, a stimulant. There are still people today that use and they have found their niche in the prescription drug market to treat conditions such as ADHD, Narcolepsy and Shift Work Disorder. The most commonly used one is Adderall. ## Main ingredient I think is ephedrine and it is controlled in the United States. ## How many mg of adderall would compare to 80's white cross? ## Are these types of ephedrine pills still available with a prescription? ## in the 70's probably a racmic close to adderall. probably dl-ampmine. otherwise ephedra. ## So they still s...

white round pill found with E1705 on one side and 40 on the other side ## Is it possible that the tablet says E 705 instead of E1705? If so, then you may have found something called 40mg time released oxycodone. Look closer at the pill. If I am correct then you have a narcotic schedule two strong pain reliever. Often times it is used for chronic pain and causes tiredness, shakiness, sweating, blurred vision, constipation, euphoria. If the tablet doesn't say E705 on one side and 40 on the other then I am unable to locate it. I am at a methadone clinic on 70mlg. but cannot afford the 410.00 a month I'm on Medicare and they won't take that insurance. How are you? I'm sorry, but if you've been going to an addiction clinic, even if it was for pain, then a regular doctor will not be able to prescribe Methadone and help you. It is against the law for them to do so. You'd be better served to stay at the clinic and ask them to assist you with tapering off of it. i think i took to many and my stomach feels weird I'm 149.1 pounds and 5'11 i took 9 will i be ok what should i do? Ps; I drunk water and a thing of warm laxative tea waited 5 mins threw up some but still feel a bit off but kind of fine ## Hello, Nicky! How are you feeling? You need to see your doctor and inform them how many you took. That's 2,700mgs of Acetaminophen and that is far too much of it to take at once. You could cause liver damage, or liver failure. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You should never take more than what has been prescribed. Did you suffer any other ill effects?

I've been getting my scripts filled at my local CVS for over a year, and now they tell me they might not get them anymore. All the other pharmacies I've tried that have them in stock, they charge 4.45 per pill! That would be over $700 for me! Does anyone know where I can get my script filled with insurance? ## If your insurance covers it and a pharmacy accepts that insurance, there shouldn't be a problem. Is it that some places don't accept your insurance or some are trying to insist on a cash only sale? Did you ask CVS if they could order them in for you? You may also get more help if you give, at least, as basic idea of your insurance carrier. Oxycodone is a narcotic and some pharmacies that have dealt with a lot of theft are planning to stop carrying them. Another opt...

I take 70mg of methadone every morning as maintenance to stay off of H. Sometimes I get tired and want to take a nap and there have been a few times that I have taken a nap in the past. Those few times when I woke up I felt like I had not had any methadone that day. Does methadone wear off when I go to sleep and why does it feel like I haven't had any even if I take a nap only 2 hours after taking it? ## Hello, Chrissy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. No, it shouldn't do that. Did you take any other medications at that time? Did you do anything else different? Does anyone know more about this?
