I have been taking met xl 50 twice daily due to less saliva production. Now my mouth is burning and nose is clogged. I hope it is the side effect of met xl. I am also taking restyl 0.25 mg before going to bed. I suffer from undue anxiety without any reason and my b.p. will shoot up immediately. No complaints were found in my blood work. And as to the blood pressure fluctuations, that's completely normal, it never stays exactly the same for anyone, at any time. Does this medicine cause constipation my Dr has prescribed laxative. Is it safe? ## From what I can find, this contains Metooprolol and Amlodipine, it is used to help control blood pressure. And yes, it can cause constipation for some people and some doctors will give laxatives or stool softeners for a certain period of time for people that are new on the drug, to prevent it. Are there any side effects for this drug ?? I had angioplasty done two years ago. The doctor put me on Met XL R 25/2.5 and Prolomet AM 50 for my bp. I also take Ecosprin AV 75 regularly. I feel at times very tired without any workout and bit depressed. Feel weak in my legs when I walk. Lots of gas and palpitation on and off. I am wondering if it is due to these tabs. Kindly advise. I was taking Losar 50 mg ×2 and metoprolol XL 25mg × 2 but as my BP shot up to 160/90 with heaviness in my head and neck, the doctor changed the medicines and introduced Temsan-H in the morning and metoprolol XL 25mg in the evening since the last 3 days.
