I use nur isterate since 2010. Lately I have some menopause simptoms. I am 43. What else can I use as contraception? Should I be without any contraceptive ## The U.S. FDA does not recommend hormonal contraceptives for anyone older than 40, due to the increased risk of some types of cancer. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, and PMS-like symptoms. There are other contraceptives you can use, such as condoms, or spermicides. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've been on nur - isterate for 26 years. I am 46 years old and started spotting the last 4 years on and off. I would like to know if being in menopause or perimenopause will affect how the contraceptive works.

Iam 45 starting angeliq is it allowed for woman in this age. I have all the classic symptoms of menopause. ## Hi I'm 45 my dr just put me on angeliq to I think it's ok peri menopausal ## It is sometimes used in people of this age, though there are risks, according to the NIH, it increases the risk of certain types of cancers. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, insomnia, and spotting. I've been taking Fluoxetine to help with my symptoms, it has been shown to help in a low dosage and it does not cause the same risks as hormone replacement therapy. Has anyone else tried Fluoxetine/Prozac to help with perimenopause symptoms?

Am 52 and have not been having my periods for two months. Have l started my menopause? ## Hello, Josami! How are you? It is possible. Aside from the cessation of your periods, the NIH lists other symptoms as possibly including nausea, hot flushes, irritability, headaches, PMS-like symptoms, chills and dizziness. Have your periods been irregular, at all, over the past few years? Have you been more irritable? Crampy? Have you had any spotting, between periods? ## I'm 51 years of age and I'm experiencing premenopausal symptoms. Hot and cold flashes and also mood swings. I am 46 years old I had very regular periods until 6 months ago they became irregular and heavy then 4 weeks ago I started spotting every day for 3 weeks it then suddenly became very heavy and has lasted 1 week and I am still heavy today . I am concerned about cervical cancer I had a scan over 3 years ago and it was clear . ## Hello, Daisy! How are you doing? This is most likely due to changes in your hormones, which is normal for your age, as your body prepares for menopause, but you do need to consult your doctor to be sure. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking Loestrine Fe for over 2 years and have had spotting about every few months. A few days ago I had a very strong flowing period, which concerned me because I am not supposed to have any periods anymore. Also when I have a bowel movement I have blood in it. It doesn't hurt but it has happened three times now. Why is this happening? ## Hello, Diane! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. Anyone taking oral contraceptives, even a woman who's past menopause, may have periods, due to the hormones in them. Thus, whoever told you that was wrong. The estrogen in them causes the tissues to built up on the uterine wall and the progesterone is what stabilizes them, once it falls off, you experience your period. Thus, even if someone were...

I have been using Estra-Noreth 1.0/0.5mg for about 6 months for menopause symptoms. I have not had a period since starting this medication. I missed two days dosage & my period started. Is this because I missed my dosage? ## Yes, this is really just a hormonal contraceptive, except you take it constantly, rather than taking a week off. The way they work is that a withdrawal period induces your menstrual cycle, so that's what you did by missing a couple of doses. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. Are there any other questions I can help with? ## I have been taking estra-noerth 1.0/0.5 for about a month because of hot flashes and other menopause symptoms. Hai, Am 48 years. For the past three months my periods are irregular. Also, it starts as a spotting, bleeds and does not stop completely. I was advised to take Regestrone tablets thrice a day for one week, twice a day for two weeks. The bleeding has stopped completely. Now am advised for a scan to check the uterus lining. Am worried. How it would be. Please help. Last July 2016, when I took a scan for the same problem, Doctor opined that absolutely no issues. it is all due to menopause. It will completely stop in some time. Please suggest ## It is normal to experience such issues, when you are in perimenopause, according to the NIH. You may also experience more severe cramping, headaches, and other PMS-like symptoms. It is basically just your body experiencing changing hormone levels to...

I have been in menopause for 2 years and recently had severe pain and some bleeding. I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts, endometrial hyperplasia and a small fibroid tumor. I have been taking this for about 2 weeks now and started bleeding again. The gyno office hasn't returned my calls-is this normal? ## This is a hormone, so yes, it could cause some spotting or bleeding. However, you should have this checked out, as soon as you can, to be sure. But with everything you've got going it, it's most likely not to be unexpected, the fibroids are very well know to cause bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am 67 and had light spotting a couple of times so went to doctor for check up. All was normal. He prescribed the medroxypr PC 10 mg tab for 14 days and when I stop it let him know if it makes me start me start a period. Reading all the notes - why would he me something to make me start - He said it would stop me from spotting. At this point I've been having a period for about 10 days (fairly heavy) with no signs of stopping. Will this finally stop on its own? ## Hello, Nett! How are you? Sometimes, even once past menopause, the estrogen in your body still causes the uterine lining to build up and that can result in some irregular bleeding or spotting. The hormone in this medication is a progesterone and it's that one that usually helps balance the estrogen, to turn your period...

I've been on Effexor for about three weeks after a change over from Wellbutrin. I am taking 75 mgs twice a day. I am feeling so much better, but over a week ago I started spotting. This lasted for a few days and stopped. Today I started again. I read that Effexor can mess with hormones. I have been in menopause for a couple of years. Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, did you continue to take the Effexor and did this 'side effect' eventually go away. I will be contacting my doctor this week, but I wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this. ## Anytime you experience vaginal bleeding past menopause, you need to have it checked out by your doctor immediately, because there is a chance that you may have a condition that requires medical treatment. Yes, some a...

My periods normally occur anywhere between 24 days to 2months. ## I got my periods on 19th sept.I need to prepond the date to 14th Oct .my menstrual cycle is 32 days.how should I use primolut -N ## mno, to be honest, if you're middle aged and in perimenopause, or full menopause, then there is nothing that may change it and get you back to having regular cycles. I have been taking this medication for postmenopausal symptoms and have been very satisfied with the results. Until 2 weeks ago when I had 1 week of heavy vaginal bleeding. I have not had a period in two years and this did not really feel like a period since it did not slow down, it just abruptly stopped after a week. Now 10 days later bleeding returns and severe cramps. This is not "breakthrough bleeding" or "spotting". I am considering going off these pills. ## Hello, Tater! How are you? If you are post menopause and experiencing vaginal bleeding, you need to consult your doctor. That could be the sign of a medical problem. Have you contacted your doctor, yet? ## no, she did explain to me that I may have breakthrough bleeding while on this medication but was not expect...

All I.ve heard for years that I'm pre cancer for my uterus most GYN want me to take a progesterone for the rest of my life for the thick lining. Now for 3 weeks I've been back on it and for the last week I've started back spot bleeding which I'm not happy about so if I stop will I continue to spot bleed.. ## Hello, Joelin! How are you? After menopause, while your body usually stops producing progesterone, you still produce estrogen, plus it is made by any fat cells you have and a lot of foods and environmental factors are contaminated with it and it is estrogen that builds up the endometrial lining, so yes, you can still build up a pretty thick one. The Medroxyprogesterone is causing spotting, because it's breaking up that lining to clean out your uterus. Usually, mo...

This medication is also used to treat abnormal periods or bleeding and to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and WHO ARE NOT PREGNANT or undergoing menopause (change of life). However, because this medication effects your hormones, irregular vaginal bleeding/spotting & cha...
