I had vertigo about two years ago. A doctor told me that is comes from a possible ear infection which can create an imbalance in equilibrium. For me, the infection can be true because I also have extreme allergies with sinus infections which can also affect my ears. I was given antibiotics and something for nausea and headaches. It went away in two weeks. After two years, after another bout with lots of allergies, I notice some of the same symptoms of vertigo re-appearing...dizziness, nausea, dull headache. I will try the antibiotics again and hope to have the same results. I will let you know.

Can Nitrofur Marc 100 Mg be used to treat a inner ear infection or even Vertigo? If not what would you take for Vertigo? ## Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic that's most commonly used to treat UTIs, it is not generally effective at treating the bacteria that cause ear infections. Learn more Nitrofurantoin details here. As to vertigo, it depends on what is causing that to occur. If it's due to an ear infection, then the ear infection will need to be properly treated for the vertigo to be resolved. Have you consulted your doctor?

My husband is spending most of his days in bed suffering from Vertigo. Someone with the same symptoms has been prescribed Novo Betahistine. He recommends my husband to take it because he says it has helped his greatly. My husband is taking METOCLOPRAMIDE it is helping somewhat but not near enough. How do they compare? ## Betahistine is used for Vertigo, most commonly that associated with Menieres Disease. Metoclopramide is an anti-emetic, so it really only treats nausea and vomiting. It will not help with associated dizziness. Has he spoken to his doctor about exploring other treatment options? ## Please try the Novo-betahistine. It was prescribed for me because I suffer from Menieres Syndrome where dizziness and vertigo last for days and days. It is safe and really helps. ## I have bee...

Untill you have an episode you have no idea how bad it really is Thank you in advance

My mom had ear canal imbalance, due to which she cannot hear from one ear. She was operated on so that her other ear could be saved. Thereafter she has had vertigo.... in which she gets very bad dizziness which imbalances her and she can fall down. She cannot look down for the same reason. She has been taking certain tablets (first 8mg then 16 mg)....however there is no improvement at all. I am very disappointed as she is suffering a lot and not getting cured. Please help me. ## Hello, Goldy! How is your mom doing? What medication was she taking? Is it hard to make any suggestions without knowing what she has already tried. Do you happen to have Bonine or Dramamine available there? Both of them are options that may help with these types of issues. The U.S. FDA lists their typical side e...

I have been taking Bactrim ds from a local pharmacy, generic manufactured in US for 14 days, no problems. Just refilled rx last night from CVS, pills are from Aurobindo Pharma. After first dose of new rx I am soooo sick, vertigo, headache, diarrhea. I had a problem a few years ago with same manufacturer (difererent med). Anyone else with Bactrim ds vertigo? ## Hello, Pkeye! How are you? That is actually a normal side effect of this antibiotic, as listed by the FDA. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for your reply. I stopped the meds per Dr, still dizzy after two weeks, but slowly better each day. Didn't realize Bactrim DS caused such an awful reaction.

Have been on 20 mlgs Xarelto for 3 years…take one a day. Experiencing severe dizziness, spinning sensation with vertigo. Could xarelto be causing this? ## Hello, Bev! How are you? It's possible, though it would be unusual to suddenly start experience those symptoms, after 3 years. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Have you consulted your doctor? It would be best to have this checked out to be safe. ## I’ve been on Xarelto for a month and a half. Since I’ve been on them I get dizzy spells. Doctor told me my body just needs to adjust. Some days I get 3-4 spells a day. Will these spells go away or should I change medication? I’m even scared to drive because I ne...

My husband took Zetia for several years with no side effects..that we recognized. He has suffered sudden onset vertigo on and off for several years...fine one minute..throwing up and unable to stand the next. He started complaining with his legs being weak so we started walking to help build muscles...he's always been extremely active. After a few more weeks the weakness was worse...legs and hips. We finally researched enough to pinpoint the problem as Zetia. The end of this month will be 3 months off. Now he has severe pain in his arms and shoulders..and the legs and hip issue is better some days than others. We are both scared that this won't get better. The pain from this is stealing his joy...his rest...his ability to live a normal life. At this point...we desperately need p...

I developed dizziness and vertigo after taking Fenofibrate for one month and am still suffering from several bouts of vertigo after coming off of it at the beginning of february. I am wondering if anyone else has had this? ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to NIH reports. It can also cause nausea, headache, and joint/muscle aches. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?

I am having problems with my balance. When I had this problem 3 - 4 years ago my doctor prescribe a med called Novo-betahistine 16 mg. I have been very tired for a few weeks and I have problems walking straight. I have a few of these meds left can I take one and see if it will help me? ## Hello, Lynn! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the vertigo problem that you're having. If it is several years old, then the medication is most likely no longer effective. Additionally, vertigo can be caused by an infection of the inner ear, so you need to have it checked out and get a prescription for the appropriate medication. You may need an antibiotic. Is there anything else I can help with?

My doctor changed me from Effexor XR capsules 37.5 mg. to 37.5 mg Venlafaxine XR (white tablet). I am now having a lot of vertigo/dizziness. Has anyone else experienced this with the switch to generic Effexor XR? ## I too am having dizziness since the switch. I have been taking the generic for a little over a week. I also experienced a bout w/ nausea and vomiting. That could be a coincidence. ## I notice a definite difference in the new generic. I feel a bit depressed. I also notice that if for some reason I miss my dose, even for a few hours I get the head zaps...if you know what I mean. I missed a dose completely yesterday and I feel sick to my stomach. I took it right away and am feeling a bit better. It is definitely different that the real thing. ## I am having the exact same probl...

Three times I started on Fenofibrate 54 mg and I stopped taking it. I knew the side effect of vertigo was possible. I want to try this drug again BUT I want to know if the vertigo side effect will lessen or subside after time. If so how long does it take for this side effect to go away (If ever). ## best medicine for dizziness due to vertigo ## ML, most such side effects generally last about 4 to 6 weeks, while your body is getting used to the medication. At that same point, they should hit their peak and then start to taper off in severity. Have you talked to your doctor about the issue? And as to the best medication for dizziness and vertigo, there is really no answer to that, because it can vary from person to person. What works well for someone else, may not work for you and vice-ve...

I took Promethazine and makes me feel better but after an hour I had a very bad feeling like very nauseatic and lighheadedness. Is this the side effect of the medicine? I am on Hypertension medication and arrythmia medication. ## It sounds like you are experiencing side effects of this medication. Some of the listed side effects include "Drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, more rarely vertigo" [1], so it seems right on par with what you are experiencing.
