I have NAFLD and have been told I need a liver transplant but the infliximab I am using at the moment isn't working and I am in constant pain in my shoulders, hands, knees and feet as well as pain in my ribs due to my liver and enlarged spleen. Have been told I can use this but am a bit sceptical about this after reading forums and would appreciate any feedback. ## I didn't see any warnings about it causing problems with liver disease, or being contraindicated, but it is always best to seek the opinion of another doctor, if you aren't sure. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, muscle aches, cough, and weight loss. Is this the only medication you will be taking?

My husband sufer from hepatitis B an liver disease. His swelling stormac, he can't go to toilet as udual. Am worried. Any clue to that pls ## Your husband needs to seek medical attention immediately. Given his medical conditions, he may be in full liver failure and could be going into kidney failure, as well. Not going to the bathroom regularly, coupled with the bloating could signal that his body is no longer processing out the waste and toxins that is needs to get rid of frequently. Is he on any medications?

just want to know if Daflon 500 is not given to patient with chronic liver disease ... ## Since this medication is not approved for use in the U.S. and Canada, I am afraid that I don't have any information on that. Have you asked your doctor? Daflon is actually a purified flavanoid used as a venotonic. ## Here's research info from France, where Dalfon has been used for years. Angiology. 1994 Jun; 45 (6 Pt 2): 579-84. Safety and security of Daflon 500 mg in venous insufficiency and in hemorrhoidal disease. Daflon 500 mg is a new flavonoid vasoprotector venotonic agent whose active principle is micronized and contains 90% diosmin and 10% flavonoids expressed as hesperidin. In animal studies, the safety of Daflon 500 mg is shown by an LD50 (lethal dose 50) of more than 3 g/kg, ie, ...

GFR ## I just had bloodwork done, and results showed Chronic Kidney Disease. At this time the only explanation from MD was that kidneys are not functioning correctly. Liver also enlarged for last 2 yrs. So far no diagnosis. Headed to Mayo for possible answers. Hep., HIV, and all other viruses negative. Anyone have any thoughts? Havn't felt well for quite a while. Thanks to all! ## Get a copy of your blood tests and see what your GFR is - below 60 then you need to see a nephrologist. Your doctor didn't order a GFR test and other related kidney panel - find another doctor - same with liver. Simply saying that you kidneys are not functioning properly and not giving you any further info - find another doctor. Same for your liver. The Mayo Clinic probably gave you additional informat...

My husband was recently diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver. He had been told for years a fatty liver is of no concern. And now this. He has more fatigue. Takes naps. He is 65 years old. Never a drinker or smoker. Is it normal to be so tired after the little thing? Can you tell how long a person lives with this disease? I need answers quick. ## Have Hepatitis C with Cirrhosis of liver, is there any problems taking 10mg Diazepam 3times a day? ## I'm very sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. Who said that a fatty liver was of no concern? I've been diagnosed with it, and have been made fully aware of the possibility of it turning into Cirrhosis in the future, and am monitored regularly to keep tabs on it. Is he on any medications? At this point, it is hard to say wha...

I have cryptogenic liver disease. It has been looking well for several years. Will lyrica damage it any further? ## It is hard to say, most medications are processed by the liver and long-term use of them could cause damage. I took Contrave for a few months and stopped a month ago because my hair started falling out. This had a blood test and results indicate liver disfunction (all enzymes measured are raised, my ALT the highest, about three times higher than normal range). My Dr is worried about cirrhosis/tissue death. I have a fibroscan and ultrasound tomorrow and have had anothed set of bloods taken - will have more answers this week. I have done a little reading and see Contrave can cause liver disease. I have never been healthier (otherwise) - eat well (Dr said tge dramatic rise in 6 months couldn't be diet related anyway), exercise five times a week, have consistently lost small amounts of weight (10kg since May). However, I am bloated aften, tired, dizzy, have muscle cramping and weaknesses, am i...

It is classified as a flavonoid. It is believed, but as I said, not scientifically proven, that these substances have a protective effect on the liver. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Can this be used to help protect people from organ failures such as (liver and lung) that were afflicted by viruses?

Hello, could you please advise if it's appropriate to use Evion or Urcosol to treat a fatty liver? I have been diagnosed with this condition and I also consume whiskey on the weekends. Thank you. ## Non-alcoholic fatty liver can be reversed with lifestyle changes. Make sure your Lipid profile, blood sugar and bp is under control... Rigorous exercise (5 days in a week), lot of fruits and vegetables can definitely reverse the disease... There is no medication for the treatment of fatty liver disease... Ursodox 300 and Udilliv are prescribed for reducing the cholesterol absorption in the gall bladder and hence preventing any formation of calcium deposits or stones.

How long can Methotrexate keep your liver enzymes elevated? ## My doctor monitors my liver enzymes carefully. If we see a rise, we cut back on the methotrexate. I would rather have some pain, etc. from an autoimmune disease, than have problems with my liver. Liver damage is irreversible. ## While Methotrexate has been known to cause elevated liver enzymes, it has also been known to cause permanent liver damage in some people that take it, including fatty liver, fibrosis, and cirrhosis. Ref: Methotrexate Information What has your doctor advised? How high were they? Are you on any other medications?

Hi all! I went to the Obgyn today and she sent my blood work off for routine testing which includes my liver levels. I am prescribed this medication, Norco 7.5/325 for degenerative disc disease. I do drink alcohol about 2-3x/week average of 8-10 units/week but always the day before or the day after taking norco. I have never drank alcohol and taken norco on the same day and I always wait close to 24 hours between last drink & dose or vice versa. I freak out about my liver a lot but my neck is in so much pain I try to forget about it. Now the gynecologist sent off these tests and I'm going to have to face the music, although I'm really not ready to. I have been taking Norco regularly (i.e. on the days that I don't drink) since 9/2013 so about 10 months. I usually take 2/d...

my friend takes medicine and has liver problems and tells me that her medicine will stay in her liver and dispense at later time.does the liver function like this? ## No, I believe she's misunderstanding how the liver issues may be affecting the medication, when she takes it. It isn't that the liver works as a time release system for any drugs. What often happens, when someone has some type of liver damage/disease is that it can affect the rate at which a medication is processed through the body, so some may be faster or slower than if the person had a healthy liver and, in some cases, they may absorb more or less of the drug than if they had a healthy liver. So from that, her statement does make sense, but she doesn't really have a complete understanding of how it works. Is...

I am in dire straits. I suffer extreme pain from endometriosis (pelvic pain) and from extensive joint disease. I have problems with tolerating oral medications due to gastric issues. Is there something strong for pain that is delivered transdermally? If not, perhaps suggest meds that don't produce gastric problems.
