i have what i believe to be cellulitus in my calf area and my foot is enlarged ptetty good. ive had this before but not as bad what antibiotic is most used on this infection and the dosage? ## Hello, Mike! How are you? It really depends on which bacteria has caused the infection. For instance, if it is due to MRSA, then the preferred antibiotic would be Bactrim, usually one double strength tablet, every 12 hours for anywhere from 10 to 14 days. However, it is not an appropriate antibiotic for all types of bacteria. Thus, it would be best to have the infection cultured by your doctor to discover the best treatment.
