Hi, I’m Herb... My question is, why is addiction considered a disease & not a choice?! I can & have quit addiction but I don’t know anybody that has “quit” cancer, heart disease or diabetes... I’m convinced that addiction is a choice, not a disease! ## Hello Herb! How are you? It is often considered a disease, since some people can inherit a genetic propensity for addiction, just like cancer, heart disease, or diabetes, according to NIH studies. If their parents, grandparents, or others in their lineage were addicts, it could make them more prone to becoming addicted to any given substance, such as drugs, or alcohol. Dronedarone, amlodipine, moxonidine, asprin. I am on all of these drugs, have been for a month. woukd like to hear if anybody else out there is on the dronedarone. Have been told and looked ir up on the internet and it does not look good. I can cause liver disease, along with heart failur and other complications. ## Just to clarify, I don't take, nor have I ever taken Dronedarone, but I can provide you with information on it. First, all medications carry risks, this is just the nature of putting such chemicals into your body. However, letting serious medical conditions go uncontrolled is usually far more dangerous than any risks from the medications used to treat them. Dronedarone is mainly used to treat irregular heartbeat. As to the heart failure, the information on that is focuse...

Can these two drugs, when taken together, cause strokes in women over 55? I was told by a pain management doctor that I should not take these two together. ## I see warnings about taking them together causing increased bleeding risks in those with kidney disease, but nothing specific to women over 55, as listed by NIH and FDA reports. There are many cases where these are prescribed together to treat various heart conditions. Are you on any other medications?

What's the best medication for Chagas disease? I've tried Ozone treatments and mild antibiotics, but still going down hill quick! If anyone knows how to kill this off, please let me know where or how, or both! Thank you ## From what I could gather, Nifurtimox and Benznidazole are the two front-line drugs used to treat Chagas disease. Referenced from: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002348/#adam_001372.disease.treatment Have you tried either of these medications yet? Apparently they are only recommended during the acute phase of Chagas disease. Once Chagas disease reaches the chronic phase, medications aren't effective for curing the disease. Instead, treatment depends on the specific signs and symptoms: If you are experiencing heart-related complications, then treatment ma...

I need the name of this medicine in USA and if it is used in this country or not and the reasons of it. Thank you very much ## want to share knowledge ## I can't find anything listed under this name in the U.S., the closest I can find is Isosorbide Mononitrate, which is used for heart disease and other conditions, so totally different from what the Monotrate is used for. As to why it isn't used here, I cannot tell you, you would need to check the FDA.gov site and see if they have any information on it, since they are the ones who regulate drugs in the U.S. ## I want to know about usage.

This medication is also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, gout, lupus, diabetes, or an allergy to sulfa drugs. Hope this information was helpful. Have a nice day! ## Just to add some more information, because the ID is correct, but the dosage wasn't mentioned, which is very important, this is a 40mg tablet. ## Verwon, touche&...

I have REM sleep disorder, with mild narcolepsy, for which I take low doses of modafinil and clonazepam. I also have Hashimotos Disease, for which I had a partial thyroidectomy, and take thyroxine hormone replacement. Do any of these interfere with my blood pressure, causing it to fluctuate, and my throat is starting to sound hoarse when I sing. Should I be concerned about the hoarseness when I sing, and do the drugs cause my blood pressure to fluctuate? Thank you for your help. ## Your blood pressure always fluctuates, it will never hit one set of numbers and remain there. It will vary depending on what you eat, stress levels, activity levels and etc. But the Modafanil can cause blood pressure elevations, since it is a stimulant.
