The losartan by Cambe manufacturer I have taken for years. This week my pharmacist gave me losartan by Metho manufacturers. Now I have face swelling. Coukd this be caused by changing generic manufacturers and the different ingredients. Also it itches. ## Hello, Debbie! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Those could be the symptoms of an allergic reaction starting, according to NIH symptom lists, so it would be best to have this checked out by a medical professional. Have you experienced any other problems, such as difficulty breathing, or hives? Are you on any other medications?

I am concerned about the shocking price increase associated with my supply of a common antibiotic drug which I may have to take for the remainder of my life. I have had 5 surgeries on my left thigh starting with a hip replacement in 2009. Everything was healing until May, 2010 when I fell and landed on my hip requiring an extensive revision to the hip and the femuir. In addition to the new joint, titanium rod, plate and clamps were required for the repair. At some point in the process, hairline fractures of the femur just above the knee led to a spontaneous fracture and a repair including added titanium plate, screws, and clamps in August, 2010. In 2012, a seroma caused by the extensive surgeries arose which was surgically repaired in August. Four weeks later a second seroma occurred le...

Where can I find a list and rating for generic drug manufacturing companies? I've used generics for years without a problem, until recently. I'd like to become more informed about the names of the most reliable, highly qualified generic manufacturers versus those with lower ratings. Is there such a source? Who should I contact if I believe a generic drug I've bought is inferior? ## Deb, I hear we get a lot of our drugs from China that doesn't dose correctly. A person told me they put half the medication in some of the pain killer and that's why they don't work as well as name brand. When I buy Tylenol or Motrin I will not buy generic. You can ask your pharmacist to only order name brand meds but your insurance might not pay for it. ## I don't know where all th...

I have taken hydrocodone 10 mg for several years, and sometimes get jittery..sort of like speedy..and uncomfortable. I noticed the other day that I have two different sizes of pills (from a different pharmacy last month). Is it possible that one manufacturer has an ingredient different from another? My doctor and I have been trying to identify why I get jittery for over a year..and I think it has to do with manufacturers. ## There can be differences between generic medications, since under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984 they are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% in the amount of the active ingredients. They also don't have to measure against each other, thus it is possible that one of them is higher or lower in the amount of Hydrocodone, which could...

Is it possible to have side effects from hydralazine from one manufacturer and not from another? Within a couple of hours, I felt dizzy and nauseous after taking the same dose (100 mg), but different manufacturers of hydralazine! ## Yes, under the Hatch Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredient. They also do not have to measure against each other, just the name brand. Thus, it is possible to receive another generic that is higher, or lower in the active ingredient than a different one you were taking, which could cause you to experience withdrawal symptoms, or new side effects. What are the markings on the new one that you've received? Can you please post back with these details? That would enable ...

Hi everyone, I am taking Prozac generics and wondering about preferences in manufacturers. I believe the 20mg of Activist is not performing very well. My pdoctor has increased to 30mg by taking 3 10mg and would like to get a reputable manufacturer. Also would like to know about experience from people who were given Latuda to use with it. He gave me a sample pack but have been afraid to take it. ## I currently take the capsule manufactured by Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals for perimenopause symptoms, which include anxiety, and it works very well for me. I take 20mgs in the morning and 10mgs at night. I can't say how well it will work for you, though, since we are all different. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry...

When I get my Metformin script filled in CVS in NY it's a different pill than when I get it filled in Florida CVS. Both are apparently Metformin but since they are from different manufacturers is the efficacy the same? ## Hello, Lolalulu! How are you? Yes, any prescription medication that's available from your pharmacy in the U.S. has had to pass the same strict quality and efficacy standards, it applies uniformly to all generic manufactures. Is there anything else I can help with? ## They don't check every batch of metformin coming into the country so who knows what the heck you are getting in these generic pills.... 10/325 generic percocet which is the best manufacturer for chronic pain ## Hi Em, Unfortunately because every brand/generic effects each person differently, the only honest way to go about finding out what works best, is to try out different manufacturers for yourself. That way you can also formulate your own valid opinion. What I can tell you though from reading a lot of posts on this site, is that Actavis (Formerly known as Watson) has been receiving a massive amount of complaints lately regarding the quality and efficacy of their generic Percocet tablets. So that's probably one company you'd want to steer clear from based on their recent track record. I hope this helps! ## I am a 53 year old grandmother, full-time student earning my bachelors in psychology counseling, then on...

Try Costco mail order for generic Librax. Best price we have ever found. ## Hi Ed, Thanks for the heads-up on how to save money at Costco. If anyone else is looking for assistance in cutting costs with their prescription(s), Medschat also offers a free drug savings card that can save you anywhere from 15 to 75% off your next prescription. You can view more details here: Rx Savings Card All you have to do is print it out and bring it with you at the time you fill your script and see what kind of discount you're eligible for. Some drug manufacturers even offer patient assistance programs for those who meet certain income qualifications. This may be something to speak with your doctor or pharmacist about at your next visit if all else fails. I hope this helps! ## Thanks, Ed. I didn...

Yes there is a big difference in the manufacturers of these pills. The white, round, WATSON 925s seem to work best as far as pain relief and "highness". The ovals are ok but not as good as watson...The peach or yellow pills are also less effective than the watsons. ## I just came across an article from this website,"Generics and Biosimilars" titled, "Actavis makes agreement for generic abuse-deterrent oxycodone", Posted 03/05/2013, that explains exactly why everyone is getting sick and feeling no pain relief. Please please please... complain to the FDA, to the company Actavis, which u can get on the internet and call Walgreens @800-walgreens...but tell walgreens not to send the info to ur local pharmacy.. cause they will...tell them u want ur complaint to go to t...

I have some alprazolam 0.25 mg that are oval. The letter on them is B on one side, then on the other side where you cut them in half, 3. Are these 0.25 mg? ## Hi Elaine, Re: "what does a white generic xanax 1mg look like": Because different drug manufacturers make their own unique versions of alprazolam, to say what one 1 mg tablet looks like, doesn't necessarily encompass all of the various manufacturer's versions of 1 mg alprazolam. You would have to provide more specific details about the particular 1mg alprazolam tablet you're referring to in order to narrow down it's image, manufacturer, National Drug Code, and other pertinent information. (For example, in my short investigation here I've already come across two different white 1mg alprazolam tablets - w...

It's no good. I have to take three at a time for 1 hour of pain relief. Anybody else have this problem with M367 - 10/325? Has anyone else noticed that meds from certain manufacturers do not work as well for them? ## Recently went to refill my norco script and they gave me M367 10/325 instead of the yellow 10/325. One of the yellow pills would last 4 hours. With the m367 I have to take 3 at a time for 1 hour of pain relief. Let me know if any of you have encountered the same with M367 10/325. Thank you ## I'm sure there are others that have had similar problems, there can be some slight fluctuations from one generic medication to another, so not all of them work well for everyone that tries them. For example, I can take this same tablet and it really hits me very hard, after tak...

I have been on Citalopram for two years but recently switched my prescription from Walgreens to Target (for convenience). I discovered that these retailers get their Citalopram from different manufacturers (the pills look entirely different, for one; and, the mfr. is also listed on the label). Within a few weeks it was obvious that the new prescription wasn't doing as good as job. So, I switched back (to Walgreens) and I'm glad I did. Sure enough, I've been feeling better again. Lesson: You never kjnow: your body may respond better to one manufacturer's generic than another. I had read this was possible, and it ended up being true in this case for me. ## HI! I'm glad you were able to switch back to the one that worked better for you. They may not always get theirs fr...

Is it true the government is allowing generic drugs to have less active ingredients? ## Hello, Riza! How are you? This is a common misunderstanding. Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredient. So they could be higher or lower in it, but most manufacturers are very conscientious and come closer to a 1% difference. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi all. I have been taking 30mg/day generic dexedrine IR tablets for 7 years now, and while I've seen a shortage happen occasionally it's always passed eventually. I picked up my prescription yesterday and found the pharmacy had given me ER capsules instead of IR tablets. Its a new-ish pharmacy for me so I figured it was a mistake, but when I asked them about it they told me that the generic IR tabs were discontinued entirely. Is this true? I'm located in California in the US. ## @swiftly, From what I've researched, Dextrostat (which is referred to by some as a "generic" for Dexedrine) was reportedly discontinued by Shire Richwood in 2003. NOTE: the actual generic name is Dextroamphetamine, which seems to still be available from the following manufacturers in bot...

I was taking 150 ml of Bupropion SR by Teva for several years and it has stopped working for my depression. Has anyone been happy with the other generic forms of Wellbutrin? I am now trying one from Activis but just started it yesterday. ## Your body will get used to the dosage of any medication that you take for a long period of time and it will eventually become less effective. Thus, it's really doubtful that switching manufacturers will help. It's most likely that you need a slight higher dosage to get the same benefits as you did before from this medication. Have you spoken to your doctor about it? You can read more Wellbutrin details here. ## Please let me know how the Actavis generic is working for you. I have been taking the Watson generic for 2 years and liked it. Just n...

I was given these in a clinic in Vancouver B.C. They looked like es Vic.but no writing at all.just a line on one side nothing on the other.extremely hard 2 break in half,& they were light pink inside.terrible taste. ## Hi Ana, While it may be true that different manufacturers have quality control issues, I don't think there should be any reason to believe that they're counterfeit, if you were given these by a doctor/pharmacist at a clinic. Did they inform you that this was Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen or what is it that led you to assume it was? From an outside perspective, this could literally be anything if there are no markings to identify it by. However I've never ever heard of licensed pharmacies dispensing fake pills. Perhaps it wasn't stored properly, causing the...

I take meloxicam , I have found that the effectiveness changes with manufacturer . Does anyone know which generic is the most like brand name Mobic? ## Meloxicam manufactured by Cipla USA is the absolute WORST. It has so many fillers it may as well be a placebo and does not relieve arthritis pain in any way. I find that the generic manufactured by Lupen Pharmaceuticals is the best out there. I have taken 15mg daily for several years and it has improved my mobility dramatically. Unfortunately, pharmacies change manufacturers frequently, so if you find that your current pharmacy stores one that does not work for you, either change pharmacies or have your doctor prescribe the name brand, if possible. ## Hi Carol, In conjunction with the helpful information in Rachel's post, I just want...

please share your experience with this never seen before, less effective drug that two different pharmacy's have given to me in last two months. they make me fall asleep! ## Hi shaun, When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. Certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. Because everyone is different, your body may respond favorably with one medication and not the other (even if they're both Adderall Xr), due to how you feel or based on whatever side effects present themselves. Although I haven't taken this medication, I can say that they probably have an array of...

Watson 825 on an oblong white pill, please ID. ## This tablet contains 650mgs of Acetaminophen and 10mgs of Hydrocodone, so it's a generic for Percocet. It is a narcotic, so it does have the potential to be habit forming. (NDC 0591-0825). Inactive Ingredients: - Silicon Dioxide - Magnesium Stearate - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Starch, Corn - Stearic Acid - Croscarmellose Sodium - Povidones Another note that needs to be added here is that as of 2013, the FDA has made a request that all manufacturers lower the amount of Acetaminophen in these combination prescription products to no more than 325mgs per dose. There are serious concerns about the dangers of liver damage and failure that can be associated with long-term use of high amounts, as well as the toxicity of overdose. Some ma...
