been on effexor for about 17yrs i think initially it was fine but over the last eight years find im constantly sick (flue like symptons) tired, non motivated and pretty fed up...But also very scared of being stuck on them now as i know its difficult to come off (was never told this) angry that drs put you on meds send you off and thats it, therapy should be offered also and constant monitoring!!! My boyfriend is on Effexor XR. We have been dating for 10 months and we've been dealing with his very, very low libido. I am very patient with him, but I can see myself eventually running out of patience. We actually haven't been intimate since Mid-July. So at this point it's been 5-months since he's had ANY interest in me. I have been self-reliant, but I am starting to have trouble myself, because I am tired of doing it myself. I have been taking adderall ir 10mg twice daily and recently was prescribed 75mg Venlafaxine (effexor) one daily. And ive been noticing that my adderall has not been working and have been very out of focused and tired even when taking my medications. I may be building a tolerance to adderall, but that still doesnt explain why it would stop working as well very sudden. Hello, i have just started Effexor XR 75 mg this morning for anxiety and panic attacks. Took it 7 hrs ago. So far i feel ok, maybe slight nausea, a bit tired and dizzy. Could also be imagining these side effects as i am feeling very anxious about starting this med, but i have no choice in taking this treatment as i want to get my life back on track and feel normal and happy again. The thing is i have an interview tomorrow morning at 11 am for a job starting end of November. The dr told me to take this med in the morning but i'm really scared that i may start having side effects just before or during my interview. I was taking Effexor 150 mg since March 08, and just yesterday my doctor switched me to Prestiq 50 mg. I haven't been reading too many great reviews about it? Is it very similar to Effexor? I got many side effects with Effexor. Cold sweat, tiredness, no sex drive etc. ## I just started Pretiq today. Suppose to have less side effects then Effexor or Cymbalta. I need to take it for my Fibromyalga and CFS - suppose to lower the PH (what ever that is) and that is suppose to help with the pain. My doctor has me switching from effexor to prozac which I am in total agreement with but the symptoms I am having are horrible....dizzy, diarrhea, brain zaps (I finally found a way to describe them through others online), im so tired during the day but am up all night...im also taking trazadone to help with the insomnia. I am nervous that the symptoms will persist since im only starting the prozac at 10 mgs. Im freaking myself out and making my anxiety worse on top of having hardly any medications in me to help! My Dr switched me from 37.5 mg of Effexor to 100 mg of Zoloft. I told him Effexor made me tired. So he says Zoloft should make me have more energy. I was down to 37.5 Effexor from 75mg because I was trying to wean off. Now I feel like I am on a higher dosage than I was before. Plus I've gained weight. I don't feel anymore energetic either. Is 37.5 mg Effexor equivalent to 100mg Zoloft? If it's a higher dose then I'm not happy. ## Hello, TMomm! How are you? They are actually different classes of medications. I had a heart attack on 9-26-16...I was doing decent afterward for several weeks. I decided to go off effexor 150mg. after 10+ years. The reason is because effexor can cause high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and weight gain, all in which I have problems with and especially now I need to control them more. I've been tapering for a month with mild withdrawal, some days better or worse than others. Mostly irritability, vertigo, brain fog, tired all the time, yet I cannot sleep. Hi thank you for any insight..I've only been on Effexor xr 37.5 for three days and I'm freaking out! My chest is heavy legs are tingly im out of it but highly anxious and tired all at the same time. I've read tons of discussions about sticking it out but have made the choice to discontinue. I spoke with a pharmacist who said it'd be ok to just stop since I seem to be really sensitive to it. Only haven taken 3 doses, He said I will probably not have any withdrawals but if I do to open a capsule and sprinkle half on something. I'm looking for asstrances. i just stared takinh these 3 days ago, i have noticed they make me tired, shaky, dry mouth,clumsy. somewhat disorented, forgetful, i was told there for anxiety, i was on effexor, and prozac but she pelaced those wth the citalopram hbr 20 mg. are these symptoms normal and will they go away in time???? thank you. ## Citalopram is an antidepressant, that is also used to treat several other disorders, including anxiety. And yes, these side effects are all normal symptoms that can occur when you start taking it. They should start to taper off after a few weeks, when your body adjusts to the new medication. I have been taking citalopram for a few years. It was fairly effective but switched to Paxil for a few months and then switched to Effexor because Paxil made me very tired. I only took Effexor for three months and decided to withdraw from taking any medication. Almost immediately after I stopped taking anything I gained weight. I've never had a weight problem and it hasn't been a huge amount (5-7 lbs) but it was almost instantaneous AND I've been exercising more and eating less and it doesn't budge. It mostly when to my stomach. Today I went to the dr. She switched my Effexor and Buspar to Elavil. I have never taken this medication before. Its 25mg x 2 daily. I'm very interested in this medicine because I have a very hard time gaining weight and I've read blogs on yes it can cause weight gain. I'm also interested in how tired and sleepy it will make me. I have been taking Pristiq for 4 days and am really struggling with the tiredness, bulging eyes feeling and nausea. Is there another medication that can be used to help treat these side effects, especially while adjusting to this new medication. Alright, I've finally decided I'm never going back on an AD again. I was first on Zoloft for about a year, tried a different one just cuz it was making me aggesive, forget the second one I was on but made me way too tired then went to an SSNRI effexor, was on 150mg for about 7 months, loved it, made me feel so much more in control of everything, then I decided to go up to 225mg and that's when I started noticing that my personality was changing, I didn't really feel myself, and I was more in my head than I ever have been. I have been on effexor started the ususal dose and went up to 150 for depression and anxiety, worked at first actually on the 37.5 I was vey happy euphoric I lost 12 poounds in two weeks added plus! but then I was told to double that to 75 mg and then to 150 was doing good but my anxiety creeping up. I had a tremendously horrible up-bringing. My parents werent physical, with me, but the verbal abuse was so intense that I can no longer take it. I worry non-stop then I worry about why I am worrying about so many things. Takes me forever to fall asleep, then I get up tired. I just completed 6 weeks of Lexapro, & sure, it helps...but only just very slightly makes me feel happier. Ive had Effexor XR, Zoloft & Abilify. All of it makes me weird & extremely tired. My doctor wrote me a script for Deplin. L-methylfolate. The first day I took it along with my effexor, I felt so sleepy and couldn't do anything because of it. I would just fall asleep . That night of the day I took the pill I went to bed around 10:30 PM and didn't wake up until 4:30 the next evening. I had 3 messages on my phone from my daughter that was getting worried about me.
