Feel Weird
UpdatedI just started 37.5 mg of Effexor a week ago and I am also weening off 10mg of celexa. I just feel so so so weird! Just BLAH. Wanna lay around and have a short temper and disconnected. Anyone else experience this? I just wanna be reassured somehow

Hy there,i have just started Effexor for 3 days now, first day it was good, the second started with a panick atak, and today i woked up with fear, fear of taking the pill!I took the pill and my doc prescribed me Xanax,1/4 taken too today,I am dizzy,i feel not normal, and i am tired of all this!I hope is just the begging ugly and then it will be OK!So help us God!good luck to you
Hello, Kayla and Lori! How are both of you ladies?
Kayla, you're most likely experiencing some minor withdrawal symptoms from weaning off of the Celexa, coupled with side effects from starting the Effexor. It is normal and should settle down in a few weeks, once your body adjusts to the changes and you're taking one steady dose of the Effexor for awhile.
You may also experience dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache and anxiety.
Lori, yes… those can all be typical side effects of starting such a medication and they usually last for about 3 weeks, or so. You should also be aware that the Xanax carries the risk of being habit forming and it may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, irritability and headache.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Hy there, after 11 days on effexor 37,5,my doc gaved me 75,so,today is the 5 th day on 75,anxiety is gone,so as panik attacks!my problem now is the dizziness ,I get tired so quickly, the doc said we have to raise up the doze for the dizziness to go away!I m really tired of this dizziness,I can t go out because of this!is it going to go away???
Hello again, Lori! I'm sorry about the dizziness.
That can be a typical side effect, but I don't think raising the dosage will help. Such side effects usually taper off on their own, after you're on one steady dosage for about 4 weeks, so your body gets used to the medication.
Raising the dosage, again, will normally just cause more side effects.

was reading your story and sitting here wondering how im gonna do. i have to wheen off zoloft slowing then indroduce the new one slowly. thats why im hear reading everyones stories.
Heather, Zoloft is notoriously hard to wean off of, it causes some crazy withdrawal effects, like brain zaps, rebound depression/anxiety, diarrhea and irritability, as listed by the NIH.
Please proceed very carefully and let us know how you're doing.
