Do This Medicine Make You Itch

Hi I have been using Lexamil for about 3 months. I'm feeling a lot beter. But I have started getting an itchy sensation only on my left arm. Is this normal? ## Hello, Marcia! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you've having. That would be very odd, because itching from a medication like this is usually systemic rather than localized to one spot. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. What have you tried to stop the itch? Is there a rash? Any hives? Is the skin dry in that spot?

Do you have a list of medications that will make you itch? I'm on six different types of medication. They are for depression, asthma, anxiety, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Any advice to help stop the itching? Can't sleep. ## Hello, Rachel! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Unfortunately, I can't state which one might be causing it, just based on the classes of the medications, nor can I possibly list all the medications that could cause itching, the FDA has far too large of a list. Can you please post back with the names of the actual medications you are taking? If so, I will be very happy to check the side effect information for you. Thanks!

I'm overweight and have severe knee pain..I can't take loratabs or anything with codeine because of itching and nausea...1/2 of oxycodone 30mg gets rid of my pain with no itching or nausea..why does this occur if they are both similar as far as being opiates? Also, is it OK to take oxycodone during the day and somas for my pain at night as they help me sleep? ## Different medications affect people differently. There is really no other explanation for it. For example, if I take Morphine, it makes me very, very drowsy, and I can't stay awake, and Dilaudid is often given to people in the ER, who present with severe migraines, but it actually gives me a headache and makes me sick. All are possible side effects, as listed by the FDA, it is really just a matter of finding one that...

I went to the doctor for some itchy ness on my vaginal area in February this year and it was Triamcinolone top 0.2% lotion. It went away but it came back now. My question is, is it still good to use? It's been about 4 months since I used it. I'm wondering if it's still good to use because it's still in my cabinet. ## You never used the cream the first time? And no, this is a steroid, so it may not always be appropriate for conditions that can cause vaginal itching. It would be best to have this checked out, to make sure you obtain the correct treatment. Is there anything else I can help with?

i have arthritis and Fibromyalgia. I take either Norco or Percacet. Both make me very itchy. Can I safely take them with Benadryl? ## Hello, Julie! How are you? It would be best to check with your doctor first, to make sure it is safe you, because Benadryl can increase the absorption of most opiates, which may be too much for some people. The FDA also warns that opiates carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The itching from opiate pain meds is not an allergic reaction and benedryl will not help relieve the itchy sensation. I have been taking Xarelto 15mg x2/day for almost 3 weeks and will go onto 20mg/day next week for the remainder of 3 months. I had a lower leg blood clot almost 3 wks ago. I have experienced some itching of my lower and upper legs and wonder whether it is something to worry about. I had thought that maybe the symptoms may relax when I go onto the lower dose. I chose Xeralto over Warfarin for the convenience of less blood checks and think I would prefer to remain on it. I have been unable to get through to the clinic or to speak to my doctor so will probably have to make an appointment but thought I would ask here and see if there was any advice available. I have also started with itching to one of my eyes yesterday though this may be due to a new cleanser which I have stopped using. Has...

I was prescribed 20mg. Bentyl for possible IBS. After the first dose I was extremely dizzy, tired and developed a headache. The second dose that I took six hours later gave me the same reactions but it additionally made me itch and the tip of my tongue felt tingly. The next day I took half of one and again had the same reaction as if I had taken just as much as the first day. Has anyone else experienced a similar reaction especially regarding the itching and tingly tongue? I called my doctor and have stopped using it. ## Hi Julie, Sorry to hear about your situation. The symptoms you describe sound like a possible allergic reaction or hypersensitivity to either ?Bentyl (Dicyclomine) and/or the fillers that make up the pill's composition. After three day of being on the lovenox I am still itching. It has mainly been my hands and my feet. How long do these medications work in your system for? ## Hello, Teresa! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. If you were on the Xarelto for a month, it could take a week or so for the side effects and reaction to stop. However, you should be aware that the Lovenox could also cause itching, as a side effect, along with dizziness, headache and easy bruising. My doctor just switched me to Opana IR 10 mg. I was taking Lortab 10/500, but staying misusing then because I built up a tolerance. Well these Opana's are amazing. I have never been so pain free in the twenty years suffering with chronic pain. Not to mention how awesome they make me feel in general. Bad part is the itching...keeps me awake and is unbearable. I wondered if there is something over the counter I can take to make this itching go away whereas I love Opana and definitely don't want to give them up. There is a high possibility my doctor might switch me again and I do not want that since these work so well. Help!! ## Hi, BeeBee! Sorry about the itching! Can't stop itching in the top of my mouth. I thought it might be allergies but my right ear keeps itching. Also, I've been known to have middle ear infections. Can this ampicilina 500 help? ## It would be best to have it checked out, before taking anything. There's a chance that the itching in your mouth could be an oral yeast infection and, if that is the case, taking an antibiotic could make it worse. A yeast infection requires an antifungal medication. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. As to the itching of your ear, it's possible that it just needs cleaned. Excess wax often causes that. Are you on any medications?

I was just diagnosed with folliculitis by my family doctor an he put me on keflex and my dermatologist has me putting flouocinolone acetonide on it. Is this normal? ## Hi George, From what I could gather, folliculitis is reported to be a common type of skin condition (usually caused by a bacterial or fungal infection) in which the hair follicles can become inflamed. So it makes sense to me why you were prescribed an antibiotic such as Keflex (cephalexin) for the infection as well as Fluocinolone acetonide, which is a topical corticosteroid mainly used for reducing skin inflammation and itching. This combination of meds would essentially be attacking the folliculitis from both angles, and in my opinion, seems like an appropriate course of action. I hope this helps!
