Prescribed Flagyl and Cipro for Diverticulitis. The metal taste is awful but I can deal with it and the nausea. What I can't deal with is the burning pains in my stomach... Has anyone else experienced pain/burning in their stomach? ## Hello, Rosie! How are you? Have you tried any antacids to help? While it is best to stay away from ones such as Tums or Rolaids, while taking an antibiotic, you can usually take others, such as Pepcid or Prilosec, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA lists other side effects of these medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea. Are you also making sure not to take them on an empty stomach? ## Please tell me what foods to avoid eating to combat Diverticulitis? I have constipation followed by severe diarrhea. Is Pepsi,...

I have been taking coxflam on and off for a year or two or three for inflammation of the knees. I have osteo arthritis and now have it in my back as well. I find some relief from Coxflam which I sometimes also use with a pain killer such as Mypaid forte. I am concerned that this will eventually cause stomach problems as I also have diverticulitis. Sometimes I feel like taking my chances as the pain gets the better of me and the relief worth it. Please give me your thoughts on this. thank you Nicolene

I have "Diverticulitis and I'm taking Amoxicillin Clavulanate Potassium tablets 875mg. This 2nd day. I've taken 3 already. The doctor told me to take it twice a day for 10 days. When should I see improvement? And should I be on a liquid diet or low residue diet? Thanks for your help! ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? The FDA classifies this mediation as being an antibiotic and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. As to when you should see an improvement, there's really no way to say. Diverticulitis can be very tricky to treat and may not respond to the initial course of antibiotics. It's kind of a wait and see game. As to eating, you should stay away from nuts, seeds, berries and popcorn. Eat a ...

I have diverticulitis. I am taking amox clav 875 2x a day. It makes me sweat at night and I don't normally sweat. I smell just like the pills. Its horrible. How long will this last? ## Hello, Tj! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having, I understand why that would be annoying. This medication is classified by the FDA as an antibiotic and the side effects will usually linger for about a week, after you finish your course of treatment with it. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash, headache and diarrhea. How long will you be taking it? The good news on the smell is that it is way more noticeable to you than to other people, so no one else will likely notice. ## I used amox/clav 875 tb for divitulis and I had no side effect...

I have a condition called diverticulitis is this the correct medicine to take to clear up a flare up and do you have to take it for the full 7 to 10 days? ## Hello, Sue! How are you? You should always take any antibiotic for the full period of time it has been prescribed. Not doing so creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. And yes, it is commonly used to treat such flares. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Does amox/kclav 875-125mg one of the side effects is headaches ## is Amox-clav 875mg a good antibiotic for diverticulitis?

I have been on Constella for 4 days. I take it in the AM 2 hours before eating. I know it is a no, no but I have just one cup of coffee and boom...I have diarrhea. However, it is mostly water without much substance...sorry for the graphics! It lasts for a few hours and then stops completely for the day. I do drink water all day and take a thermos with me when I go out. This repeats itself exactly for the next few days while taking it. I have no feeling of having to go after the diarrhea stops. I also take Restoralx (Miralax) every evening. Constipation has been a battle for me for years and years. I am a senior now. If this pattern persists I will call my doctor. Will this diarrhea taper off? ## Does the diarrhea ever tapper off? I spoke to the doctor and he reduced the dose to every ot...

I have diverticulitis is there anything I can take that does not contain acetaminophen for pain ## Hello, Missy! How are you? Yes, there are many available that don't contain Acetaminophen. Some examples in the opiate category include Oxycodone, Zohydro, Dilaudid, Morphine and Opana. The FDA classifies these mediations as narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. All of these require a prescription from your doctor, plus there are also non-narcotic options you can discuss with them. Is there anything else I can help with?

colon diverticulitis ## Hello, Are you referring to Buscopan Tablets? If so, I'm not really sure about what information you are looking to receive so if my response doesn't answer your questions, please feel free to post back. Buscopan Tablets contain the active ingredient Hyoscine, and are used as an abdominal antispasmodic. Buscopan is indicated for the relief of spasm of the genito-urinary tract or gastro- intestinal tract and for the symptomatic relief of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I have also read that this medication can be used to treat mild to moderate symptoms of Diverticulitis. From what I can gather, the usual dose of Buscopan (hyoscine) tablets is 1 or 2 10 mg tablets per day. If you need to take this medication regularly, the usual dose is 1 tablet 3 to 5 times a day...

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic, however, so in order for it to have its full effect to help you, you should finish the full course of it, as prescribed by your doctor. You may experience some side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash. Learn more: Are there any other questions?

My doctor diagnosed me with diverticulitis after a ct scan. Why do I take amox-clav 875 and metronidazole simultaneously? Thank you! ## Sometimes multiple antibiotics are given, if the doctor isn't sure of the precise bacteria that is the culprit, by taking more than one, it covers more possibilities. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, stomach pain and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My side effects also included a super metallic taste and a somewhat distorted sense of smell. Both have resolved after finishing course of antibiotic treatment.

I tool Levaquin and Flagyl to fight diverticulitis on three different occasions within a two month period. I developed severe muscle pain and weakness in my legs, hands, and arms along with joint pain in my knees, ankles, and fingers. I was unable to get up out of a chair and could barely walk. I ached horribly just trying to turn over in bed. This drug is absolute poison. I finally put it all together and called my doctor who immediately took me off Levaquin. I was so worried that I would not recover. I have been off Levaquin now for four days and the improvement is remarkable. I am far from my normal self but I am hopeful that I will make a full recovery eventually. I advise everyone to avoid this drug like the plague. This is an awful medication and causes serious damage. ## I know i...

I have diverticulitis. I am afraid of all the side effects of augmentin. After 3 days of liquid diet my pain persists. How many days should I be on 875? Extremely fearful of all the side effects listed. ## Hello, Charlie! How are you? Side effects are just possibilities, not everyone experiences them, some don't experience any of them. The FDA lists the typical ones for antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea…. which are pretty mild in comparison to an infection that could rage out of control and kill you. How long has your doctor instructed you to take it? You should complete the full course of treatment, as prescribed. ## Can my 12yr. Old daughter take augmentin875-125 mg tablets for strep throat

Horrible med taken for diverticulitis. 2 Mos after 825 mgs, 2 x daily, 10 day dosage: all orig side effects remain with increased intensity: burning skin/rashes, sensitivity to light/sun, severe arthritis in hands/feet, myalgia, urination frequency, unbearable back pain. The med/pharmacy community nows little about this or professing not to. My life before augmentin bears no resemblance to now. I cannot perform my daily activities .. disgusting. Have turned to acupuncture for relief .. plan to file a complaint against this med with any government agency applicable. NEVER TAKE THIS DRUG! IT MAY ROB YOU OF THE LIFE KNOWN BEFORE TAKING IT!

I have been on entocort off and on since 2012 due to gastro diverticulitis (highly flammable). After a colonopscopy in Sept. 2012 I was given entocort for 3 a day-1 mo., then 2 a day-1 mo., then 1 a day-1 mo. Then on Feb. 7th, 2013 I fell on cement and was taken to a hospital by helicopter. They kept me alive due to help from the Dr.'s at University of Ky. Hospital -Lexington, Ky. Then later they gave me prescription budesonide ec 3mg. 1 per day. After another colonopscopy on 9/24/17 they ruled it as diverticulitis w/colitis again. Recently they changed my script to budesonide 3mg with the drug co. listed as MYLAN 7155- NO EC letters listed on the script. I was in surgical intensive care for 5 days. The complaint was diverticulitis. My condition was potentially very serious but my vitals were coming back close to normal. I was kept in surgical ICU in the event the numbers changed which would require immediate surgery. The attack occurred at home shortly before I was to leave for work. It felt like someone had driven a knife into my gut and it brought me to my knees and eventually totally prone on the floor. In ICU the pain relieving drug that was given to me was Fentanyl. They would give it to me on request at intervals of one hour .. sometimes less if requested. I could see that there was about 1 CM length of liquid in the smallish hypo syringe. The effect was immediate. The pain subsided dramatically. When taken to a regular hospital b...

Unfortunately, those side effects may occur with pretty much any of them. The only thing you can really do is try different ones and see which causes you the least amount of problems, while alleviating your pain.
