I have IBS for many years now and recently been told I have Diverticulitis. Last 2 days I am suffering with Diarrhoea 8 n 9 times a day. Last night I took 2 Lofenoxal. Then this morning it all started again been 4 times already. Its taking too much out of me my back pain is also severe. All I want to do is sleep. I am due to go overseas but how can I? I go to a pain clinic and get urine tested. Yesterday my doc told me that oxycodone showed up on my drug test. I'm not prescribed oxycodone and my doctor discharged me for consumption of oxycodone that wasn't prescribed. My question is this.... I'm prescribed Lomotil for IBS; I know it is a schedule v drug BUT can it show up as a schedule 2 drug in urine tests (such as Demerol/oxycodone) as a false positive? I read that info on the internet and would like to know if anyone else has had the same issue? And how do I go about proving to my doc who wants nothing to do with me and does not believe what I am telling him! Someone please help! ## is loperamida the same medication as lomotil? Used for Diarrhea ## NO! Lomotil contains the active ingredients Diphenyoxylate and Atropine. Loperamide is the active ingredient/generic name for Immodium, so they are completely different drugs. I take lomotil, 2.5 mg up to 4x a day for Crohn's disease and I have short bowel syndrome due to multiple GI surgeries. I know this med is a controlled substance, diphenoxylate atropine, and wonder at this dosage if I would get a positive drug test? ## How long does Lomotil stay in your system?

Hi... My age is 35... From hyderabad, India. I have stomach pain and loose motions from yesterday... Today It reached peak... I went to motions 3 times in 40 mind. I thought cause is outside food. Will lomitol harden stools or just slow down quantity and frequency? I have permanent coloscopy (about a foot removed)and some days I poop most of day. I take 2 in am and 2 in pm. Also take Imodium around 6/7 tabs daily. This combination helps but some days I still produce a little at a time. ## I reside in Fort Mill South Carolina. I am going to try reducing the Imodium I take daily and take for Lomotil every day four times daily and perhaps take two Imodium before bed ## It is really hard to say the effect it may have on any given person that tries it. According to NIH reports, for some, it may slow down the amount of bowel movements, and possibly make them more solid, but for others it could actually cause constipation as a side effect. i am having irritable bowl syndrome. is it safe to taken lomofen? is there any difference between lomotil and lomofen? as i heard that lomofen is bannde in US. currently i am in India. ## I AM SUFFERING FRO I.B.S., PLEASE SUGGEST MEDICINE FOR RECOVERY. I take oxycodone/acetamino. 7.5/325 for pain. I also take LOMOTIL prn for diarrhea. On my routine drug test(saliva), I tested positive for MORPHINE as well as the oxycodone. I have not been on MORPHINE since Oct. of 2013 (6 months ago). Why am I testing positive for Morphine now? Is it the Lomotil? ## Hello, if the saliva test was a rapid screen test and you came up positive for anything whoever gave you the test should have sent a sample to a lab for a confirmation test using the GC/MS method of testing. If it was a rapid screening test like you can buy for home use, it is possible you got a false positive for some reason. FYI, the detection period for opiates in saliva is only 24-48 hours. Can these two pills be taken at the same time? I have IBS and take Lomotil as needed and my dr. prescribed Methylprednlsolone for my sinus infection. Can these be taken together? I didn't find any interactions listed between these two medications, but it always best to double check such information to be sure. What type of symptoms are you having? The Methylprednisolone is a steroid class medication, so it can cause some annoying side effects, such as headache, nausea, weight changes, fluid retention and elevated heart rate.

If I'm allergic to sulfa can I take lomotil? I had a reaction to the sulfa salt in Levbid. My sulfa allergy is bad enough that I have to watch what vegetables I eat. I'm also allergic to latex, eggs, cleocin, flagyl. I'm not sure which sulfate I'm allergic to. Also am hypersensitive to sulfides and can't drink wine. I don't attempt beer because I have celiacs. Just thought if I provided all my allergies, you might see a common thread. i am in India and suffering from distal Ulcerative colitis from last 13 -14 years, i am 27years old and from last 7 to 8 year i have been taking Lomotil 1 or 2 tabs every daycause to control diarrea, and from last 3 years i have been taking 1/2 tab of lomotil every morning with mesacol 400mg - ulcerative colitis, and Glyde tabs - for piles, is this dose harmfull for me in FUTURE or should i stop talking lomotil cause of side effects.. Learn more Lomotil details here. Topsy, I am sorry it didn't work for you. Not every medication helps everyone that tries it, so you may need to talk to your doctor about trying something different. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness and constipation. And this shouldn't be taken if you suffer from jaundice or if you are just experiencing diarrhea from taking a course of antibiotics. I had to take a drug test for a new job the other day and have been taking lomotil diphenoxylate/atropine daily for months. Will this med show up on a drug test and what would it show up as. I do know for a fact diphenoxylate is an opioid similar in chemical structure to Demerol so that is where my concern ls. If anyone knows I would greatly appreciate it

I think it may be Lomotil for diarrhea. ## Hi tatortott, You are correct that this pill is used for the treatment of diarrhea. I've identified the imprint M 15 as Atropine sulfate (0.025 mg) + Diphenoxylate hydrochloride (2.5 mg); which are the active ingredients found in Lomotil. Lomotil has been a life saver for me. Colitis attacks would hit several times a day. All of that is finished. ## Wonderful, very glad that you've found something effective that helps you.
