I am 52 yrs old. I feel dry cough and chest congestion. Earlier doctor prescribed me AB Phylline &Deslor tablet. Nt felt a relief by this tablet permanently. I m nt having any tablets now only using avessa inhaler thrice a day. I had a cold but now I have lingering chest congestion that builds up in lumps in my throat (thick slimy) and gags, choke, and make me feel like its drowning me when I am sleeping - I have to jump up out of bed and cough ad spit it out. This is different from regular cold and congestion which was usually watery. I have a cough, wheezing chest and congestion, I've been taking OTC cold and cough for 3 days with no luck curing this condition. I have some Amox/K Clav 500mg left over form an other infection...will this work on what I now have? ## Hi Mike, I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. Amox/ K Clav (Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium) will only help if the cough you are experiencing is caused by an upper respiratory infection. You could take the medication, but if it doesn't work the cough probably just needs to run its course. Fifty years ago I was only slightly allergic to penicillin with rash on my butt. Currently, I've been sick with a bug going around for a week and a half now. Almost better except my gland hurts when I swallow and swollen and still slight congestion in my chest. I have 500 mg of Amoxil in my home. Is this okay to take this? I have chest congestion and want to know which medication would work best for me. Promethazine vc syrup or mucinex ## Use Mucinex, don't use promethiazine it's not very safe with any continued use. It wouldn't help your congestion anyway, it's mainly for extreme nausea. ## (A second opinion): I would also recommend Mucinex for the same reason that Steve suggested. Also, you may want to consider cutting out any dairy products from your diet as they are mucous forming and can work against Mucinex in terms of clearing the congestion sooner rather than later. i have patchy consolidation in my lungs based on a chest xray done and there is congestion in sinus also. i am asked to take mahaflox 400mg twice a day withderipylin retard thrice a day along with a cough syrup. It is wonderful for clearing up chest congestion in colds. Mucinex is NOT the answer. Isn't there some where to obtain Guaifenex? Or maybe Entex? I took twice the dose of this and I got no relief from my coughing and chest congestion. I was experiencing some breathing problems, like stickiness in my throat and chest congestion. I have a 3lb tcup Yorkie and he's been coughing and I can hear the congestion in his chest and breathing. I'm disabled and in serious pain my self and can barely walk due to the bladder and mesh I can't find the dosage for his weight. I don't want to give him to much. He's my everything and I feel so horrible but I don't want it to get worse or pneumonia? Please help me out. I will make sure he drinks plenty of water.

its guaifenesin and phenylephrine Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It helps loosen congestion in your chest and throat, making it easier to cough out through your mouth. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that shrinks... no reason to be alarmed! ## I actually tried to look this particular pill up online, but couldn't find anything posted about it anywhere. So thanks for taking a moment to share your finding on that. It's definitely a big help when there's no other way to identify something like that. If anyone else ever comes across a similar pill, I did find that most round tablets starting with a "44 xxx" number sequence are generally common over-the-counter drugs here in the US. Would you also happen to know who manufactures this pill?
