taking cymbalta and having terrible nightmares.is this a side effect? ## I have had depression for as long as I can remember, I'm 29. I've been on Celexa for about 3 years now and it has helped a lot, but for the past 2 weeks its gotten really bad. And to top it all off i've been having horrible nightmares, which make me feel worst. the dreams are so vivid and scary. Does it have anything to do with my depression?? ## Have either one of you consulted your doctors? The nightmares could be related to the medication, the depression, or both and only a doctor will be able to help you determine that. Sakura, your body can get used to any medication that you take for a long period of time and this means the current dosage may lose its effectiveness. You may require a dosage adjust...

My phychiatrist RX me celexa for depression ~ Then he tryed me on 5 types of anphedamien type Meds for ADHD Thoes Meds freaked me out I thought to myself. ppl actually get addicted to this stuff? But when I asked him to RX me enough Lorazepam , the smallest does 0.5 msg i think, enough for 1 or 2 tabs a week he about had a cow . Yet he'd give me anphedameins, up to 30 mg 2x's a day? I wish I never when to him and stayed with my primary Dr as he had RX it for me with one refil. Anyway I'm going to see the shrink next week, it's been three months. Tobeg him toperscribe me the Lorazapam as I stated above.. If he fights me on this I'm asking him why it's ok fir me to take anphedamins with my celex and not the smal does of the Lorazapam I'm asking fir for anxiety ...

I just started taking Celexa tonight 2.5mg to ease into it. I am extremely sensitive to medications. I took prozac last year after devastating miscarriage. I have been off it a year and now my depression and anxiety is back with a vengeance. Help! I feel like my anxiety and depression is worse and it was a super low dose? I'm worried it won't work as I tried to go back on prozac but the side effects were too much. ## Actually, if you read the information provided by the FDA and the NIH, it is very common for this to happen, when you start taking such a medication. They can actually worsen things for about 3 weeks, or so, until your body gets used to the medication. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. However, if you feel that...

Is it ok to take a yellow xanax at the same time as a 1 mg celexa and a pain pill? ## Mixing Xanax and Celexa can cause side effects to be worse and this can include respiratory depression, so you do need to be careful of doing so. As to the pain medication, I cannot answer you, since you did not say exactly what it was and there are many analgesics on the market. Can you post back with the name of the pain pill or active ingredient? ## Well I'm not sure about the Xanax because so far, for me it worked. But the Celexa was the worst thing for me. I had to get off that pill asap. ## zanex, pain pills, and celexa can be deadly. My daughter bdied on oct. 28th 2009 ofnthese three drugs, it was called a pharmacutal o.d. lethal. she went to sleep and never woke up and i did not realize she ...

This is hell. I'm having rage, and I mean RAGE attacks! I've been off Celexa for about one week. I weaned myself off of Celexa, while replacing it with St. John's Wort. I'm taking 2800 mg SJW to offset no Celexa, and it definitely is helping. But the rage attacks are scary. Really scary. Like road rage type scary. Help. ## While St. John's Wort is said to help with depression, and anxiety, it does not actually replace a prescription medication, since it's efficacy is not clinically proven, nor are its effects comparable to a prescription medication, in spite of the claims that are made about it. That is also a very high dosage to be taken of it, generally it is not recommended that someone take more than 1,200mgs of it per day. Thus, the greatest chance you are f...

My doc put me on Celexa for depression. 10 mg. I took it two days in a row last week and I swear it made me feel sick and I felt like a zombie... So I stopped. Then after talking to a couple other doctors decided I should give it another try. I am now on day three and I feel very sad and have no motivation for anything. I feel like s***. I can't feel this way...I am a single mom of three and two of my children have special needs. I think I am going to stop taking them again. Could I be getting side effects from the Celexa or is my depression getting worse? Also last night when I was driving I was having a hard time concentrating. Also I noticed a difference when having intercourse :( I don't see anything good about this med. ## Hang in there! I have been through the same things ...

I was switched from 40 mg to 20 mg HBR, I am starting to feel s/sx of depression....can I double up on the 20 mg to equal 40 mg? ## Have you consulted your doctor? Why was the dose lowered? What you may be dealing with are some rebound effects, if the dose was lowered suddenly and that can actually be worse than the problem you initially started taking it to treat. However, before changing the dosage on your own, you do need to consult your doctor.

I took citalopram 20mg two days in a row without being prescribed it. I learned that I can't just stop taking it whenever, so I wanted to stop now before my body becomes accustomed to it. Will I have any major problems with this? ## Hello, Phil! How are you? No, there shouldn't be any major problems after just two doses, but if you're concerned, please speak to your doctor. Celexa is an SSRI antidepressant and stopping them abruptly, after being on them for awhile, risks causing rebound anxiety and depression. Typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was diagnosed with postpartum depression/anxiety last month. This is the first time I have taken antidepressants...I started on Zoloft and took it for almost 3 weeks, but had bad sexual side effects, dizziness, no appetite, and I had one beer with it and it caused me to have suicidal thoughts...I felt like a robot with no emotions...so my doctor switched me to celexa. I took it for a few days and started to feel energized and happy. After a few days, I had insomnia and my emotions came rushing back...I went to the ER because I was afraid I was going to go back into depression and they told me to stop celexa and take Zoloft again. I went and talked to my doctor the next day and I felt AMAZING...I was happy and talkative and worry free. I thought it was Celexa so I asked my doctor to st...

I have been on celexa since June for gad and depression. First 10 mgs, felt good for a few days, then 20 for two weeks began to feel better for more days, but still not 100 percent. Now on 40 mgs and still do not feel good for two weeks. In the past I have taken Lexapro and zoloft which worked for a few years then stopped working. They both kicked in within 10 days of takingI cannot take Effexor as it raises my blood pressure. I am thinking this maynot be working. I am scared ## Hello, Jessica! How are you doing? How long have you been taking the current dose? It usually takes 3 to 5 weeks for this medication to reach its full level of efficacy in your body, so you may just have to give it more time. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mou...

I have both Anxiety and Depression, tried several SSRIs that didn't work. Dr put me on Celexa 10mg beginning April 1st...he warned me it would be rough at first. THAT is the truth... I have been SO much worse with anxiety... So I've only been on that low dose for 2 weeks. I feel SO discouraged because am not having ANY signs of feeling one bit better. Could you please share your experiences with me about how long it took. I'd really appreciate it, thanks. ## Yes, it can take about 4 to 5 weeks for this class of medications to reach their full level of efficacy in your body and for you to know how well it may, or may not work for you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood changes, and weight changes. How are ...

I just came off of celexa due to side effects (diarrhea). I was on imipramine for depression/panic attacks for 20 plus years. The doctor said celexa had less side effects. Not for me. Anyway I have mennires disease also and need a 2 mg valium....it helps the vertigo some. My problem: Can i take them together at night? ## They can both increase sedation, so you should be cautious taking them, and only do with your doctor's approval. The FDA lists the side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, sedation, and shallow breathing. What types of issues did you experience with the Celexa? ## Diarreah that kept on. I have IBS occasionally....but this was different. I have not had daily diarreah or bad pains in over 3 weeks since I came off celexa. I have to take valium ...

I am currently taking 1-100mg of lamictal once a day, 1-25mg of celexa a day, and 1-.25mg of xanax 3-4 times a day. Is it safe to also take the 1-25mg of hydroxyz pam for sleeping at night? ## Have you consulted your doctor about this? The interaction that I'm finding listed is between the Xanax and the Hydroxyzine, since they both can cause depression of the central nervous system, combining them can increase the risk of that occurring. CNS depression could result in shallow breathing, lowered pulse rate, severe sedation and, in extreme cases, completely circulatory/respiratory shut down.

I was on Celexa for Anxiety, Depression and Panic Attacks for over a year and it stopped working. I am now on day 4 of my psychiatrist switching me to 30mg Cymbalta. After 7 days I will go off of Celexa and be on 60mg of Cymbalta. The problem is I am so nauseated, shaky, sleep is sporadic and feel like I can't keep going. I want to be better so bad. But every day feels like an eternity. Can someone please give me hope of light at the end of the tunnel, that this will all be worth it? ## Hello, Sally! How are you? I'm sorry that you're so miserable. Yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel, but right now, you're dealing with withdrawal symptoms from one medication and the side effects of the new one. Thus, it isn't surprising that you feel the way you do. Rebound ...

At first I was a wreck, super high anxiety and depression and I cried several times a day. I think that might have been due to stopping my previous med Celexa though. I'm on day 8 of Viibryd and I really feel like it's starting to help. I take it at night when I plan on going to sleep soon because it gives me stomach upset, not really nausea either but a bad sharp burning pain above my navel. It's nothing that keeps me from sleeping but something I'd rather not deal with during the day hence the night time dose. Another con to my experience with Viibryd so far is I took my first 20 mg. dose last night and had a horrible night trying to sleep. It was hard for me to fall sleep because I had bad anxiety and mild panic attacks. Then once asleep I kept waking up. However desp...

Dr put me on 25 mg for depression. I also take Celexa 40 mg. I was concerned about side-effects but was told not to worry. NOW Dr. says "you need to go off seroquel" after 3 months. I'm finding relief from my depression symptoms and she says I need to get off of it because it increases the risk of stroke by 3 times. Why did she put me on it in the first place? Is there brand new info that has surfaced that has changed her mind in 3 months? Advice? ## There is a warning about it, but it's relevant to other risk factors, such as having already had a stroke, TIA's, smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure or atrial fibrillation. I was started on Cymbalta 60 mg after Celexa had stopped helping me with my depression. After almost a month on the drug, I began to have nosebleeds and my blood pressure was extremely high. I had never had high blood pressure or a nose bleed in my life and I am 54 years old! They became uncontrollable and I had to be hospitalized and have an epistaxis embolization. I was in the hospital for 5 days due to the bleeding. I mentioned to the physicians that I had read that these were rare side effects of Cymbalta. They all looked at me like I had two heads! I can find no other reason for this sudden health change in me. Has anyone else had something like this happen to them while on Cymbalta? I would like to hear from you. I was just released from the hospital yesterday and am now dealing w...
