My perspective is that as Pharma companies buy up quality companies like Watson, who put the required amount of the main pain-killing ingredient in each tablet, they then put in MORE fillers and less narcotic ingredient. Patently, this is why people are having to take more of these generics and often, due to them receiving less narcotic, end up lapsing into withdrawal. ## Generics do have to meet certain quality and efficacy standards, under U.S. FDA law, just like the name brands do. Can you go to Canada and get a perscription for pain medication? ## Hi Red, If you go to Canada in person to make your purchase, in general, be aware of the illegal nature of what you are doing (there are laws that prohibit "personal importation;" that is, Americans purchasing drugs from Canadian, Mexican or other pharmacies and bringing them into the United States). However, as long as you stick to the FDA's and U.S. Customs' parameters, you should be able to get a prescription there to purchase medication at a Canadian drug store and not risk problems. To remain on the safe side, I'd just be sure to take along an extra copy of the prescription to show Customs when you return to the United States. I hope this helps to answer your question!

Hi all, Unfortunately some of these drugs have nasty side effects, but this is nothing compared to coming off them. Take it twice as slow as your doctor recommends, if you're still feeling the 'flu', take half a pill and it will help you get through it. Never buy generics.
