Anyone have experience with Keppra as a mood stabilizer? I'm taking it, and it seems to help. No side effects. But it is used for epilepsy and seizures in adults. ## The medications of choice in the last several years to treat bipolar are anti-seizure meds which seem to have mood stabilization as a possible secondary indication. If you haven't discussed this with your doctor, please do. I've been on various anti-seizure medications for the last couple of years for my bipolar. Some work some don't. As I've found out, there is little in the way of prediction as to whether a given medication might work. Trial and error. You must give them time, I've noted up to 2 months before passing judgement. I'm on Lamictal now with moderate success. This is another anti-sei...

I have been taking Topamax for about 2 months now to treat bi-polar disorder and have been having some side effects. I was having some dizziness and pins and needles feelings in my feet but both of those seemed to have gone away. The thing that wont go away is the trouble breathing. It feels like I am having a panic attack but im not. It comes on at any time of day even when I am not stressed. It feels as if someone is sitting on my chest and I cant take a deep breath. I can't find anything saying that this is a normal side effect. Has anyone else had this? I really want to stay on this medicine because it is helping me but this hard to breathe feeling is really scaring me. Please help. ## Hello, Tana! How are you feeling? You really need to consult your doctor, as soon as possible,...

Has anyone ever heard of oxycontin helping with bi-polar disorder? I found out by mistake. It controls my manic episodes. Which were the thing most people fear most. I just don't understand why no one seems to know this, or why it isn't used on a regular basis. I know it is addictive, but I am a Whole person for the first time in my life and I have NO rage and no manic episodes. Why is that? ## Oxycontin contains the narcotic Oxycodone as the active ingredient and narcotics are essentially downers, so it may help prevent the manic episodes from occurring for you. However, the reason it isn't used to treat such issues is that it does not do this for everyone that uses it and that addiction possibility. Learn more Oxycontin details here. I am very glad that it's helped you...

Pacitane I am planning to take Steroids (Clenbuterol 40 and T3) to lose weights along with the medicines prescribed to me above. What precaution should I take while taking these medicines and Steroids. Gender: Male Age: 36 Height: 5 feet 8 inches. Weight: 90kgs. ## No, the steroids will not help with weight loss, they actually cause weight gain and mostly through fluid retention, which can be quite dangerous. If you want to lose weight, you need to discuss it with your doctor to find the best way for you to do so naturally and safely. What types of foods do you eat? However, I am not understanding how the Zyprexa is supposed to help with itching, but then again, I am not a doctor. How bad is the itching? Is there also a rash, or just the itch?

My doctor prescribed me 15mg of Abilify after telling me I had the symptoms of classic Bi-Polar. I took it, and that day I felt horrible. Nausea, very weak, dizzy, and i ended up throwing up at work. i tried it twice. the second time not as bad, because i had more food in my stomach, but still not worth it to me, to feel so weak, feeble, and dizzy. so i decided to start taking halves, and even then i felt not so great. very anxious, this empty feeling inside, physically, that made me feel like i needed to have something (a shirt or jacket that fit tightly, and just was against me.) the anxiety had gotten quite bad, and i am usually an avid reader, and could barely read more than a page or two while taking this. i talked to my doctor about it, and he gave me 2mg samples, told me to take ...

I have anxiety that is literally ruining my life. I work from home, I take online classes and I can barely go to the grocery store without having a panic attack. Is there a psych in DFW anyone can recommend? ## hi Jamie , I go to ABC behavioral health in Dallas, their base is for lower income and mental disabilities, like bi polar, extreme anxiety, manic etc. they don't just hand out benzos but if its severe they will. you are followed monthly by a psychiatrist and a counselor. ive been going there for 2 years after a severe depression changed my life. it was debilitating, lost my job,my house everything. you might give them a try. ## hi Ja...

Used for bi polar conditions ## Can respidol cause Dystonia? ## The correct name is Risperdal, which will help you in finding information. ## Does Risperdol cause withdrawals when you come off of the medication? ## I haven't witnessed any withdrawls. However an overdose could be brain damaging. An overdose will cause the person to become highly lethargic, pale skin, fatigue. It can slow the respitory system and potentially stop the heart beat. Of course this depends on how much is taken. This is an RX that needs to be taken in low doeses at first and gradually increased. Results aren't usually seen until the desired dose amount is reached, however some people may not require a full dose amount to see results. This med is used for Bipolar disorder and some autism. ## Respedol? BE...

Hi. I'm bi-polar 2. Have bee on Epitec 200 mg for 10 months. It has now been increased to 250mg. I've been doing great, the only problem now is the constant headache. Could this be the Epitec? ## I've been on Epitec 300mg for years and have no headache problems. It might effect you differently. Check on the packaging if it could be a side effect. ## @Daleen, These medications can certainly effect each individual differently. To answer your question though, yes, headache is regarded as a severe side effect of Epitec (Lamotrigine), which you should report to your doctor as soon as possible to avoid any worsening of it. For future reference I think the list of side effects in the link below may be of help to you in knowing what you may or may not experience as a result of takin...

I am takin latuda for bi polar. Can I take lipozene ## @happyturtle, From what I can tell, apparently there are no verifiable ways to check for drug interactions between pharmaceutical meds such as Latuda (lurasidone) and OTC diet pills like Lipozene. But if I were you, I would probably notify your doctor first anyways, since patients are generally supposed to inform the doctor of any additional substances you're using alongside the medication that he/she prescribes you. This is for your own safety. I will say though, that in my honest opinion (not to be mistaken for medical advice), I don't think there would be any complications with taking the two together since they both act on different parts of the body. Does anyone else have thoughts on this?
