Oxymorphone Shortage 2014 Tn

Does anyone know if there is a shortage of the generic opanas? My pharmacy said they can't get the moons or the g from two different suppliers. I am in the Knoxville area.

Hello, Cowboy! How are you? I'm sorry that you're having a problem finding your medication.

Actually, there is usually a shortage for the last few months of the year, due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Once a manufacturer reaches their allotted yearly limit, they cannot manufacture any new product, until after the new year. Every year, demand exceeds supply and we end up with a shortage.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

The best suggestion I can make is to speak to your pharmacy about what they do have in stock and see if your doctor can prescribe that, in the meantime.

There is a shortage in NC also. Mine is 30mg but no one had any of any mg. my DR office even told me to see if anyone had enough to partial fill the script that would last until Monday because my DRs office is closed on Fridays and it was after 4:00 when I found out I couldn't find them. I had to call every pharmacy in 6 different counties until I finally found a pharmacy in SC that could get it the next day. I was freaking out also since my DR office is closed on Fridays and I was going to have to go all weekend without my medication. Only thing I can suggest is get on Google and call every pharmacist within an hour away, I had to drive 45 minutes each way to get mine but at least I did find them. I wish you luck.
