Oxycodone, Stronger Than Morphine? (Top voted first)

Updated

12 years ago I was in a really bad accident. I woke up with 6 broken vertabrae, 11 more that we were told are consuidered the equivalent of severely stress fractured, my cocyx had been removed, my frontal lobes partially seperated, "no functional balance mechanisms" a damaged right hip and two shattered knees. And a bunch of mush more minor injuries.

For some people, me for one, any of the codones, including oxycodone, is virtually useless. For severe chronic pain, it is my experience that there is quite simply, no substite foir pure morhne sulphate. I take the stuff only when I hurt to the point that I just have to have some relief. In 12 years I have yet to become addicted to the stuff. I don't suffer from nausea, or constipation, or anything else. I follow a strictly organic diet. I was taking "Fentora", a sort of super version of fentynal before it was released from trials. I couldn't stand the stuff and refused to take it.

MD's don't like the idea of someone taking morphine sulfate on an "as needed basis", even with my 12 year history of rather responsible use of the stuff. There is just no money in it for them. Me being such an oddball case, I don't see "regular" MD's anyway. I see University medical center research neurologists. MD's who have actual real life knowledge of and experience with such substances. Not script writing half quack pain management "doctors" who spend half their time looking at a clock or a watch. The MD's I see gain no benefit from prescribing trademarked and patented formulations. They just care about me and what works the way I take it. It is my experience and opinion that in most cases and for most people that morphine is for pain, and the codones are for dopers.

One BC powder and a dozen dried tart cherries with every 30mgs of morphine is as good a regimen as there is. But, as always, YMMV.
And too, have your doctors ever told you that morphine and oxycodoneare metabolizd differently and that oxycodone is metabolized by your liver and that you should be extremely cautious taking oxycodone and any other kinds of medications. And that you should be especially carefull and aware of just how much more than absolutely zero acetaminophen (Tylenol) you take with any amount of oxycodone. Ask a university neuropharmacologist about that sometimes..... I have. And I am willing to wager that your MD, hasn't.

Allen, thank you. It is mostly as you say. Though my pain causation is not as intricate as yours and did not originate from a traumatic impact doing instant damage, none the less is systemic via my spinal column and cord and compression along with many levels of compression on exiting nerve roots/Foramanal stenosis. It has been 3 years post failed fusion x 2 of seemingly endless nagging (picture a dog gnawing on a bone) and at times, crippling, breath taking, uncontrolled outburst grunts, yelps, yowls, and a of course, the rage of pain. Spinal lesions here and there neck down. An S1 - L3 about to be revised and extended to T10 or 8. So from 3 to 8 columns from sacral to thoracic to be hammered, chiseled, drilled, screwed, rod and wired, just to keep me from becoming a paraplegic. The whole cascading with catastrophic failure train coming down, or up, the track.

After my baptism by fire into and thru the automatons, but almost well meaning PCP of Family practice, including the deluded 'shepherds' of the multidisciplinary Pain Management by Demigods who seem to need 'everyone is be an addict' paradigm and who both, Family Practice and the gremlins of 'specialty' that by their hands have roasted marshmallows and made smores with the devil himself. Which is weird, I don't think he knows what he himself looks like, what face he wears. But suffering is a fantastic motivator and mind expanding motivator to learn more then you ever could want or imagine about the way the body and mind work. And I am refraining from using the vernacular that is appropriate to my knowledge of this topic at this date in time. All of it hard earned and learned, and as of late, fearless and combatant to knaves of medical politics and their instruments of ignorance.

Yes, individual body chemistry, metabolism, duration of endurance and coping skill level. The current state of the wiring and firing, transmission, plasticity, and really, the evolution of new active areas of grey matter and that too of dying or dead areas, yet still, brain activity and modifications that are profound productions of pain. The beauty of intelligent design, the human body and mind, and then the grotesque manipulations by those that money buy. That guy or gal who you go to to help keep, maintain, or better your quality of life, but themselves are unable by way of actual ignorance, or worse, bias and prejudice, and worse, by the medical community at large who are paranoid and suspicious and influenced to Doctor by numbers, 15 minutes per patient is fine.

My point prefaced; I have no agenda other then to know what is or is not. Can or can not. Will or will not. What I am capable of and who is in my way. I have to self advocate and can do so soundly and with grand conviction. I live this experience and I have survived myself and those who may have had, or may not have had, my best interest in hand. I have studied every aspect from a myriad of science and self awareness to filter the truth out of the melee of rhetoric and opinion and find what resonates.

When it comes to pain, actual and real as the body itself interprets it, as the brain seeks to subdue it and heal and all that is involved with this, and here, specifically to analgesic medications, I know first hand and this is not some statement of arrogant, dualistic, self-serving, delinquent testament to access opiates or defend their use for mundane recreational use disguised as pain or a medical condition, but is in truth, my way of appreciating that you have gone to the edge of the world to see if the world was actually round and not flat, like the Doctors and mills that produce them, born of the Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex and sold to the masses as gods of knowledge that the people they are to serve and uphold by oath and honor, who accept their words as gospel, found your way to where the poppy is natures double edged sword and is wielded by those do not care that your life be spared or made better. That there is more, much more, to the world of pain and its familiars, and to each their own suffering be at the hands of those who indeed are or were to be their hope and benefactor, are often felled by those and made insane.

I am not saying the only answer lay in medication, for that is not so for me. But is so that all that pain is and can do, can change, can give and mostly, can take, IS NOT pony tamed to be played with and neither is a game. It is the whole of suffering that this resounds. And it is that many upon many people are not aware that there are 2 worlds: One that is hard won and requires much work be done to be worth living and in doing is enabled to give BACK to its son. And the other is where the easy are found. That world abounds with meaningless minds and hearts unwound. Filled with hyperbole and opinion and judgement unsound. It's this 'other' world where most are found. Complacent to be told what is heard is to then be bound. There is one common problem. As it turns out, it is the same every time...Ignorance.
