I am in San Diego just got off methadone 6 months ago, i run a company getting my father to retire but i cant get over the anxiety that i face at work evry dy, i have to hide in a porta potty just till it goes away in about 30-40 minutes...ive been to many dr. and as soon as they hear the word methadone they just shut me down, i had been on methadone for 6 years then got off with xanax that my brother despersed to me so i wouldnt over do it, and i got off, then a year later in a bar while sticking up for a gorl that was being insulted because she did not loilke the guy...then out of no where the guy s friend blindsided me and broke my jaw (so bad that they brought specielists in that had never seen a jaw broken in such manner, a navy seal did it by the way)... anywyas please guide me somewhere for my panic/anxiey , i realise ive done H and vicodine to get to methadone but that wa ten years ago, i now own a home in cmr, have great support from family and i refuse to abuse any thing else from here on, my main problem was always opiods anyhow...thank you for your time....i hope tp hear back from you..... yigit.....

I've suffered for over 15 yrs of my anxiety, depression, & anger... I had a Dr about 10yrs ago prescribe xanax for all my mental problems. We were doin fine on them until the Dr's nurse practitioner refused to refill my medicine. Anyways I need a great Dr in the Ft. Scott, Kansas 66740 area asap cuz it's gettin harder and harder... desperately urs, sibble...

Stan, In Nevada you have to go to a Psychiatrist for Medical Pot and I do know of a guy in Vegas, Dr. David Linden. Played phone tag with him and gave up. He would not answer if he took Insurance. I think the're crooks?

Does anyone know of any doctors in brisbane australia that will prescribe xanax? I know of someone that used to but he died and was old so he didnt really care towards the end what he prescribed. If you know of anyone this would be great. I have suffered all my life from anxiety but there is a genetic condition that my mother died from and I have found out that at some stage in my life I will get it and its not pleasant. She was diagnosed at around 42 so this is always in the back of my mind

That is true if you are abusing it, and not taking it as prescribed. i have a sleep disorder, have had chronic insomnia for my entire life. I take 4 mg. of xanex for sleep along with melatonin. The problem occurs when a doctor refuses to prescribe the medication ( thinks ur abusing it)...or doesnt taper you off the benzo... Any responsible doctor knows that it is dangerous to take a patient off xanex too quickly and can be life threatening. Bottom line... If the drug is prescribed and the patient is taking it as prescribed it is an effective medication for anxiety, depression, insomnia or tremor.

Hi Nicole, Im in Las Vegas and moved here from NY 8 months ago. I had a stash of my old meds to make it until about a month ago and saw a new psychiatrist out here. She refused to refill my normal dosage of klonopin prescription (2mg 2x a day) and gave me script for lexapro. The lexapro had horrible side effects (splitting headache every morning and randomly throughout day, weird thoughts and lack of libido, after 3 weeks, the drug did nothing to quell my anxiety). Now I'm very close to the end of all I had and I'm very worried. The dr through me out becuase I didn't want to follow her SSRI plan and because I kept pushing for my old dosage of klonopin. Is there a dr out there with some empathy and willing to prescribe klonopin? I even told her Im about to run out, ive been taking it daily for years now, I thought there is withdrawal syndrome and horrible seizures that could happen, she just like ignored me and told me to leave because I didn't want to follow her plan, even though I know what works for me since I was with a psychiatrist in NY for 5 years. Please get back to me as this just happened yesterday and now I need to find a doctor to prescribe me at least a low dosage of the klonopin so I don't run out. Much appreciated

Hello I live near Boca Raton Florida and suffer from anxiety I don't like to take Xanax all the time. I use to get it prescribed but lost my insurance and stopped going. I just moved to Florida and would like to find a Dr. That would help me with my anxiety and my over whelming feeling that I use to get before knowing I would have to take one of my pills. Pls help if possible thank you!

Sure is horrible! I thought I could write a book, as each day was different. Week 1 at home, and week 2 in the hospital. The Doctor was amazed I was able to walk in , in "Walking Critical" condition!

Xanax withdrawl is horrible. Vivid nightmares, no appetite, restlessness, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, among various other symptoms, even death! So know the facts before u give advice. It doesnt matter what dose ur at. Stop taking ur 3 Xanax per day for a month & then get back on here with sum advice!!!!!!!!

Xanax (alprazolam) is the domain in the USA for the need to see a Psychiatrist.

Any other physician, like your primary care physician, a MD of internal medicine, sleep disorder physician, even a neurologist, who dispense a prescription for Pfizer-Upjohn Xanax, or generic Alprazolam, IMHO, will not maintain you on this beyond 2 or 3 return visits, because, the pattern I have experienced all over the USA is that, "that is just how it is" you are referred out to either a talking therapist,
and/or a Psychiatrist, who often work together, to accommodate the patients needs.

Yes, a Psychiatrist is more expensive, but, for long term use of Xanax, (beyond a 4 month usage period), maybe only 2% of USA MD's will continue a patient on this, unless, one is in hospice, or has a terminal illness. Just my 2 cents worth.

Psychiatrists write Xanax all of the time, I have been going to DEA licensed Psychiatrists since the year 1971, and still do. It is a miracle drug, in the short run, but just "for me" it is abusable, and, I personally have been down that road. It is still the number one selling benzo (mild tranquilizer) in its brand and generic form, in the entire USA, and has been, for at least 25 years in a row. Source: Pharmacy Times + Verispan's Vector One Reports, of top 200 Generic Drugs prescribed in the USA during calendar year 2008, with, 43,585,790 scripts filled at USA pharmacies, only seven (7) other medications, in the USA outsell Xanax! (page 185, of REDBOOK 113th edition, "Pharmacy's Fundamental Reference" published by Thomson Reuters, for PDR, Inc, of Montvale, New Jersey (year 2009).

IMHO, 90% of medical doctors in the 48 mainline states of the USA who prescribe Pfizer/Upjohn Xanax, or its generic version, (80%+ of the scripts) beyond the initial office visit, or certainly, by the 2nd office visit, are all USA PSYCHIATRISTS. I have seen M.D.'s for over 40 years, and this has been the case, "everywhere I have lived from Arizona, New Mexico, Virginia, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, to finally "Florida".

Please don't waste any more time. I am only trying to help, not to dictate. There may be exceptions, but I sure have not found one exception, since at least "honestly" the very, very late 1970's!!!!!!! (I am talking about the drug Alprazolam, in any dose from .5mg to 23 full milligrams. The only exception, might be a equally expensive, Neurologist, or a Sleep Specialist M.D and all are very, very expensive....and from them you are likely to get the expensive Xyrem, (Sodium Oxbate, not alprazolam), or worse yet Trazodone, or a anti-depressant with sedative properties, like Remeron, or, a anti psychotic, like Seroquel. "Not for me, been there , done that" sorry for my ranting
