Concerns about prescription of Seroquel
1 Reply RSS
A close friend of mine has been taking Seroquel for about a year now and I think her current dosage is around 400-600mg/day. This drug was prescribed to her to treat anxiety and for sleep issues. I have spent time with her after she has taken this medication and its horrible. She acts like she is drunk. She has almost no short-term memory and forgets things she talked about just moments before. She slurs her words and becomes rather uncoordinated. And she has no recollection of what she said or did the following day. She has developed such a dependency that she is now taking the Seroquel late in the afternoon, is in bed by 7pm and will sleep for 10+ hours. She has tried drugs like Cymbalta and Lyrica with no effect. From what I have researched, prescribing Seroquel for anxiety is rather...

Round Yellow Pill N on one side 100 on the other
3 Replies RSS
Im from canada and was given this pale yellow pill imprinted with a N and 100. was told it was a kind of narcotic. ## Hello, Tstouty! How are you? Are the N and 100 on the same side or opposite sides? Are there any score lines on the tablet? ## So, I just found the same mystery pill not too long ago. The N and the 100 are on opposite sides of the flat, light yellow, circular, coated pressed pill. The edges are ever so slightly beveled on both sides- barely even so. There are no other imprints on the pill. ## I have this pill too is it seroquel? N or z on one side, 100 on the other, round peachy colored. Thanks all!

Seroquel/Pax

Can Seroquel 50mg be taken together with pax 10 mg ## Yes, unfortunately these class of medications (anti-psychotics) do carry the side effect of weight gain. These meds actually slow down your metabolism causing weight gain. If you are using it for sleep which is what a lot of us are prescribing it for, so as to not get you hooked on sleeping pills. These meds side effect of sleepiness is why we use this even if you're not psychotic. Try breaking one in half with a knife and try using just half. Whatever you do if you are taking them every night you DO NOT stop taking this medication before speaking with your doctor first. Abrubt stopping of these meds could cause seizures and other problems you will have to be titraited from the drug if you so choose. It is a good drug for occasio...

Is anyone else experiencing weight gain from seroquel? I still work out the same as always, and eat the same way, but I have gained over 20 pounds since i started seroquel 2 months ago. I dont want to stop taking it becasue i finally found a drug that helps, but this is an unacceptable side effect to me, anyone have any tips for dealing with this? ## Tell your doctor he might be able to help. ## I have been taking seroquel for about six months now and I have actually lost 16lbs. I take a dose of 400mg a day and have not hadd any problems. I have not even changed my diet or my exercise habits (which aren't the best). I do not have any side effects maybe it is a combination of the seroquel and other medicines you are taking? Seroquel actually began as a medicine given after surgery as...

My sister takes take her tegretal and seroquel do these have a horrible impact upon each other he seems like she's drunk all day. I believe its the serequel. I just wany her to have some normacy un her life amd she definitely cant fuction lije this. ## Hello, Laura! How is your sister doing? I'm glad you posted your concern, because she does need to speak to her doctor. She could be developing an issue with serotonin or something else, which has the potential to be dangerous. Normal side effects to Seroquel include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. How long has she been taking them? ## she just started taking the tegretol again about a month ago. Shes been on serequel since april. ## A month is long enough for it the serotonin to possibly be building up in her brain and...

Medical aid wants to change chronic meds
Post a Reply
Medical aid wants me to change chronic meds. I'm bipolar and are on Lamitor 300mg, Dopaquel 200mg and Venlor 225mg. They want me to use in their words a "cheaper" medicine like seroquel instead of Venlor despite motivational letters from my psyhiatrist. He is after all the treating specialist that walked a long way with me in getting the right combination that works. I have been on many different ones until I settled with these meds. They refuse to pay for the venlor even though i use the generic efegen. I'm already on Dopaquel which is the same as the Seroquel, in other words it would be a duplication. I don't think this is fair it is after all a PMB condition. Will it have the same effect if I change the meds. I don't want to but would like to know if somebody has

Avoiding Seroquel drug interactions
3 Replies RSS
My Mum is diagnosed Parkinsons Dimentia or Lewy Body Dementia. She has been prescribed and has been taking low dose Seroquel (25mg) which dose has been dropped to 12.5mg approx 6 weeks ago. The drugs Mum is on aren't working for her (she is very sensitive to Benzo lines and other drugs) and I'm discussing with her Doctor the feasibility of switching to cholinesterase inhibitor drugs instead. Rivastignmine (Exelon) is one of those drugs but I note it does moderately interact with Seroquel. As Mum is incredibly sensitive to drugs and their effects, I'd rather Mum be completely off Seroquel before commencing something such as Rivastignmine. What period of time would be a safe duration to suggest that the Seroquel would no longer be in her system? ## Approximately 36 hours, but ...
