The best way to find a doctor who will prescribe Xanax is to look for a psychiatrist, NOT a general practitioner. Specifically, a psychiatrist who specializes in anxiety disorders or phobias. I may not live in the same area you do, but I managed to find a doctor by looking online for a local anxiety clinic. I read the reviews of the doctors there and some of the patients mentioned being given Xanax (they were complaining about it, but that's how I found out it was being dispensed there). You must be under their treatment and supervision on a regular basis to continue getting prescriptions, which may be tricky if you don't have insurance. Keep in mind the younger you are, the harder it is to get it; some doctors may be concerned that you might be too immature to use it responsibly, or suspect you are using it recreationally. I'm almost 40 and have a long history of psych med use, so psychiatrists tend to trust me. To address some of the nightmare benzo-withdrawal stories I hear: I have to wonder how much these people were taking, and if they were abusing it or increasing their dosage on their own somehow. I take three 1mg tablets a day (if I need that many) and if I decide to stop taking it, I taper my doses gradually over a week or two until I stop altogether, and have never experienced withdrawal. If you take it exactly as prescribed and discontinue gradually, you shouldn't have any problem. Remember not to combine it with alcohol.

I'm looking for a PCP who will prescribe 2 mg. Xanax in my area. From Clinton to Conway or to Little Rock Arkansas. I have one in Maumelle but, the whole office is a bunch of incompassionate butts! & SO MANY DR'S these days are totally against prescribing it. So I would be VERY GRATEFUL if u could help get me to a better one. Btw, my doc is Hashmi. & what's even crazier is that he & his wife are both dr's @ this medical center & I've only been able to see her a handful of times & started seeing him cuz she was ALWAYS loaded on something & can't keep her eyes open while I'm speaking to her. But, it is what it is. So, thanks for any help

I live in Wilmington Delaware. I just lost my pain doctor who was giving me oxycodone 15mg and opana er 30mg. I am having a hard time finding a doctor in the area who will continue where my previous doctor left off. Does anyone know of a doctor who can help me. I don't have the time to go from doctor to doctor. And my health insurance might not allow me jumping around. Can someone help?

Where are you located?

There are also no guarantees that any doctor you go to will prescribe the medication you want them to. That is entirely up to them and dependent upon their diagnosis.

NEED HELP FINDING A DOCTOR IN AREA SURROUNDING DANVILLE VA OR ROXBORO, DURHAM AREA. IVE BEEN ON KLONOPIN FOR ALMOST 15 YEARS AND BC I TOLD MY DR THEY SEEKED TO NOT WORK ANYMORE AND ID LIKE TO TRY XANAX OR VALIUM...HE STATED HE WANTED TO TAKE ME OFF ALTOGETHER. I TAKE SEROQUEL300MG AND PROZAC10MG 1 X A DAY AND WAS ON 2MG KLONOPIN 2X A DAY. You obviously have never suffered from severe panic attacks or agoraphobia that prevent you from functioning in life. It runs in my family. My grandmother died in a mental institution after 'mental breakdown'. Every woman on my mom's side of family has to go onto a benzodiazepine after menopause or go nuts with severe anxiety attacks and phobias. CHEMICAL IMBALANCES have nothing to do with 'changing your life' - I am a Registered Nurse with a Psychology Degree. I thought I'd do it w/o meds too - but I found out when I went thru menopause. I'm also a Certified Therapist but there is NO therapy that controls severe panic attacks without medication. Educate yourself instead of being judgemental to people and you won't make a fool of yourself when you opine.

Why are you doing this to yourself? I was on Klonopin and Xanax for years until I went into rehab and suffered through agonizing withdrawals, worse than any nightmare you can imagine. Severe, intractable insomnia, horrific headaches, muscle spasms and twitching, seizures, brutal anxiety and paranoia, vomiting, really, the list is endless. I ended up getting tossed into a psychiatric ward for a month because of benzodiazapine withdrawal syndrome, not because I was mentally ill. If you really want all this, then I wish you the best of luck. The quick high you get off Xanax, or the release of anxiety isn't worth it. In the end, it will come back 100 fold. These drugs destroyed my life, there is no happy ending with Xanax.

Does anyone know where a dr that will refill my meds? Ive been on xanax soma hydrocodone lyrica . I've been on these med for over 15yrs I have the proof. I live in Indianapolis. I am a retired RN who worked in mental health for years. I even managed a chemical dependency unit. I am in my 60's now and retired. I am disabled physically. Spinal problems, from lifting all those patients and a prior car accident, Fibro, and generalized anxiety and PTSD from what life has dealt. I am broke and uninsured now. I live in TN, with an alcholic husband who has Tourettes, and is nuts and is opiod dependent. I have no where else to go. Get this, my PHP whom I can see only twice a year due to limited resources will give me NOTHING...so i have saved up to see an MD or psychiatrist. My prior doc gave me Ativan 2mg a day for years when i was still working. I hate the new doctors. They make me sick. Some folks need meds to function. Also the miss and mr. know it alls make me sick too. Some folks need meds to function. I hurt and shake everyday. If anyone knows a good shrink or doc in Memphis. Email me. I was always and still am a patient advocate and against drug abuse. Like I said, some people actually need medication. I have gone without it for two years. I seldom leave the house. God Bless those like me..
