@Rhizzy: neng, when we become sexually active kasi it's normal to have secretions...yun yung natural lubricants naten. When was your last post-natal visit with your OB? nagpa-paps smear ka na ba for this year? yup, la naman mawawala pag nagpa check-up ka..so carry lang yan. go! go! ;)

HI DocMom,

I have read your comments on the yahoo site regarding Exluton.
Im taking Exluton pills for two months, eventually i decided to stop taking the pill the last day of my menstuation last july 10,2010.
Still I dont have my period now. I stopped the Exluton pill because Im planning to take another brand.
I just had my contact last night and its a withdrawal method.
its July 17 now, still i dont have my period yet. When will I start taking the next pill? i mean another brand...

@Beauty0420: Hi. will get back to you re: your message in my email ad...been busy lately kasi. Anyhow, going back to your case...you said you stopped taking your pill on the last day of your mens for this month (july 10, 2010)...well, if your menses come regularly every month then don't expect to have your period anytime soon cause you just had your period. Normally, we get our periods every 21-35 days interval...if your period comes every after 20 days or less, it's actually an obstetrical condition we call polymenorrhea...and if more than 35 days naman ang interval (masyado matagal), we call it oligomenorrhea...anyhow, mark your calendar on the first day of mens then mark again when your next period comes. That way you know how many days ang interval mo so you know when to expect the next period. Since you just had sex, best to take a pregnancy test 2 weeks from now. If it's negative then by then you'll get your period and you can start with your new pill. What pill are you planning to shift to? If it's estrogen-containing (not like Exluton), best to start on the 1st day of your menstruation. Good luck!
@Michelle: since tuloy-tuloy naman pag-take mo ng pills, no worries. Okay lang yan kahit di ka pa dinadatnan. pwedeng effect lang yan nung pills (irregularity of menses is a common side effect). just continue taking your pills, have a healthy diet and exercise.
@Nhe: yup, go ahead and start na with your new pill. wag mo na tapusin yung 11.

hello doc mom. Nagkamali po ako, i am so sorry. I mean my last pill stopped on july 10 kasi naubos na rin ang 1 pack and i was supposed to expect my menstruation, pero wala.I take Exluton naman on the right time, hindi ako nagmimiss kahit isa. Im planning to take Trust again. Yung una kasi Trust gamit ko Charliz pero gained weight, thats why I changed to Exluton pero ang effect is may spotting ako last June 25 to be exact hapon then wala na nung pagkagabi. My concern now wala pa rin ako period, im expecting it last July 10 kasi last day ng pills ko Exluton, pero wala. recently not na ako active cause i am waiting for my next period.

hi docmom! good to know that ur here to answer our queries. ur a big help to lot of women :) clarify ko lng po, just give birth may 2010 dn my OB advise me to take exluton aftr 4 weeks.. d po ba advise nyo is take exluton aftr 2 mos of giving birth, tama lng po b yung s case ko n nag take ng exluton aftr 4 weeks? 2nd question ko po, considering everyday nag take ng pills nd at the same time po, sure na po b yun na d ma bubuntis kahit no condom or withdrawal method used? 3rd po, s it stl effective to continue taking exluton kahit d na po nag be-breastfeed?

@Beauty0420: hmn, let's see if i got your facts straight...so you've been taking Trust pills before and shifted to Exluton...then after finishing 1 pack of Exluton, you decided to stop and go back to Trust. Last June 25 nag-spotting ka...and since July 10 when you last took Exluton till now wala pa yung period mo...hmn, Okay, wait ha, review muna naten yung effects ng Exluton (...bear with me, and para din maliwanagan yung iba).... If we take Exluton, #1. Effect sa Ovaries: pwedeng ma-suppress yung paghinog ng itlog sa ovaries thereby hindi sila ma-release..
#2. Effect sa Cervical mucus: pinapa-lapot ng Exluton yung cervical mucus natin kaya mahihirapan maka-travel yung sperm para i-fertilize yung egg,
#3. Effect sa Endometrium: pwedeng maging manipis yung lining ng matres o endometrium so hindi siya prepared sa implantation ng fertilized egg. Ito rin ang reason kung bakit pag dinatnan tayo, minsan spotting lang dahil manipis lang yung lining na na-shed.
#4. Effect sa Fallopian Tubes: may epekto rin yung Exluton sa secretions ng tubes so mabagal yung pag-travel ng egg through it.
Lahat ng actions na ito ang siyang kokontra sa ating agarang pagbubuntis (contra-conception)...para maplano natin kung kelan natin gustong sundan si baby. Ok, now that we know all these, yung spotting mo last June 25 is an effect of the pill. Pwedeng yun na yung mens mo for the month dahil manipis lang yung lining ng endometrium mo. You'll have to extend your patience a bit because it will take time before your normal hormones take over. So pwedeng umabot pa ng ilang araw o linggo pa before you have your menstruation again. Remember, hindi ito tulad ng Trust pills wherein after finishing the 21 pills, you'll get your period within the next 7 days while taking the 7 brown pills... however, since you plan to go back to taking Trust which you have to start taking on the 1st day of your mens, la kang choice sister but to wait for your period. hmn, be patient lang. just stay fit and have a healthy diet. dadatnan ka rin. also use a condom nalang muna while you're not taking any pill. ;)

Alright Doc Thank You so much for the information. But Im having doubts to take the Trust again although nabili ko na siya. gain weight nga lang ako sa Trust, sa Exluton medyo bumalik yung dati kong katawan... Kung may masuggest kayong pill that can suite me, pwede niyo ako advise... Thank YOu

@Matrix: Hi! to answer your question, Here's helpful info I've lifted from SAEPI
re: DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE
OF EXLUTON ...One tablet is taken daily without interruption beginning on the first day of the cycle, i.e. the first day of menstruation. This starting day should be adhered to irrespective of whether another oral contraceptive has been used during the previous cycle or not.
The tablets are taken at the same time of the day, preferably at about the time of the evening meal.
When the pack of 35 tablets is empty, a new pack is started the following day, thus without interruption.
Post-partum and post-abortion treatment with Exluton should start preferably on the first day of the first spontaneous menstruation.

...so ideally talaga, dapat on the first day of spontaneous mens HOWEVER, return of menstruation is variable (not necessarily after 4-6 weeks after child birth).

Gynae Online says that:

The return of the first menstrual period after the delivery of the baby is variable and depends to a great extent on whether the woman is breastfeeding.

In women who do not breastfeed, ovulation returns 4 weeks after delivery and menstruation returns after 6 weeks in about 40% of all women. By the end of the 12th week, almost 80% of all women who do not breastfeed have got their first menstrual period.

In women who breastfeed, menstruation returns about 6 - 7 months after childbirth. But this, too, depends on how long the woman breastfed her baby exclusively without any supplementary feeds.

According to most pediatricians, babies need to be exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months of life. In such a case, menstruation may return later than 6-7 months.

...so, i guess your OB decided to start you on Exluton early. Not that she's wrong about this of course, discretion niya yan. i guess gusto niya i-ensure that you don't ovulate agad after giving birth kaya she started you with Exluton agad. for your 2nd question, as long as you've been taking your pill daily on schedule then no need to worry na cause hopefully the pill is doing its job. Lastly, if you can still take it even if di na nagbe-breastfeed...yes you can. The reason lang nman why it's recommended for breastfeeding moms kasi it doesn't interfere with milk-production unlike other estrogen-based contraceptive pills which lessens milk production. (but this also doesn't mean than it causes milk production ha. Exluton doesn't make you produce milk...it just doesn't interfere with it)..labo ba? i hope not! anyway, i hope i was able to answer your question. :)

@Beauty0420: you're welcome! naku, i know there are lots of pills out there and what works for others may not work for you. here in indonesia, Jaz is very popular but i'm not sure kung may counterpart sa Pinas. plus, hiyangan talaga so at this point, i'm at a loss of what to recommend for you. anyhow, you can always ask your OB for suggestions. good luck!

Ok DocMom I will search for Jaz... So paano yan doc, u have said that it will take days or a week. July 19 na here now, my last pill finished last july 10, so its more than a week already. So probably nextweek? Ill be assuming yung june 25 ko spotting might be my period already parang ganun?

@Beauty0420: i don't have a copy of the latest MIMS 2010 (guide to Drug Info) but i found a counterpart of Yaz (Drospirenone +Ethinyl Estradiol) in my old 2005 copy which I brought pa from Pinas...meaning, meron na diyan. The pharmaceutical company Schering AG [Zuellig] makes a product with same components as Yaz called Yasmin. Based on this issue, it was sold for Php475/pack back in '05...naku, not sure na ngayon how much that is. Baka other pharmaceuticals have started producing that na rin so baka masmura na. If you find out, update mo nalang din ako.

possible ba na mag iba ang effect sa isang tao ng pag gamit ng exluton?

Exluton kasi gamit ko 7 years ago, when I was still nursing with my first baby and I had my regular period. Then, nag injectibles ako later on, tapos now balik exluton kasi active ulit ako. i was about to empty my first blister pack, pwede bang hindi ako datnan on my expected date of menstrual cycle?
