my mom has alzheimers and cancer. The best place for my mother since our father and her husband died, with her 1st daughter (my sister) being murdered in a home invasion in the same four days. Your mom's symptions are not uncommon or the medicine's fault. Goodness do not take her off her medication for pain or the xanax or you could throw her into a severe withdrawal. The doctor made a proper call in medicating her so. She is dying. Accept this rather than finding fault. She is elderly and it seems it is her time to go. My sympathies. Stephen

dear stephen, her new dr. said she has chronic cystitis with spasms. Thank you for your letter. but, her new dr. said with the high doses of drugs this dr. had her onw gave her alzheimer symptoms they will slowly take her off. he said surely with the dulidan it would of put her in a coma. we are so pleased we fired this do and hired an interenist who along with several specialist ie urologist, gynecologist and neurologist were perplexed on how much triple 3 and 4 drugs he had her on. she looks so much beter today. and she is not dying. total lack of a young dos experience with elderly patients and all he had to do was get a couple specialists on board and all of theses symptoms would of been treated. again they did a test and found out she does not have alzheimers. no one on eithere side of our family has ever had alzheimers. again thank you stephen and i'm so sorry for you tragic loss of a sister. i pray all the time for thanks to god for questions answered and he does hear our pleas. stephen god bless youand your family. as god has just blessed us. nancy

Over prescribing is, unfortunately, a common trend among doctors who aren't sure how to treat certain conditions. In reality, they are trying to do their best and help their patients and make them as comfortable as possible, but in the long run, it does more harm than good.

You did the smart thing by questioning her treatment and her diagnoses. Keep on top of it as much as you can, just in case.

Be sure to post back and let us know how she is doing!

C Says! Your mother is in chronic pain, so don't try to take her off the pain meds; do you want her to suffer? On top of that consider the withdrawls she could go into, this could be enough to kill her alone considering all she is taking for her condition(s) Try to let go and let the doctors and God do their work. I belive letting her doctor know what is going on and her behavior on the meds is critical, but if she is in severe pain dont let her suffer
