Hello, Jean! How are you?
Generally, it's best to abstain from alcohol, when taking narcotics, due to the fact that they can both cause depression of the central nervous system, which can result in shallow breathing, nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and lower blood pressure.
However, if your doctor says it is okay, then please make sure you will not be driving or doing anything dangerous.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
