Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 24)

Updated

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

Hello everyone. I think we are getting scammed by Actavis. I have been taking Norco 10/325 for over a year now due to multiple back problems. I just noticed several months ago that the Norcos were causing stomach aches and other intestinal problems. I know Watson sold out to Actavis but the Norco still says Watson on the pills. I am not getting any relief from the medication and feel that Actavis is putting the Watson name on these pills. I am going to ask my doctor if he can prescribe something different. I am afraid to get Percocet because from what I read it is nearly impossible to find a pharmacy that carries anything but the Actavis brand. Does anyone know if any of the big named pharmacies such as CVS carries anything besides Actavis. Thanks

Lola,

sorry this is so late in evening. First chance I had to get to internet. I asked Walmart the manufacture for their Percocet. Shows on bottle as AMN and I didn't realize that was abrev for the brand. He had to look up as well. It is Amneal. I hope this helps. It has taken all the really bad feelings away as I have posted before. He did say they may switch sometimes so to ask each time if I like. Hope you fine one that works for you.

There is nothing wrong with the Actavis. Been using them for years... and several other brands. It's all in your head is MY opinion, but there is the slightest (and I mean freekin' slim) that the theory of some binder and inactive ingredients could possibly be the cause of all you addicts who are afraid of anything you haven't used or gotten used to. I see the same thing all over the place. It's addict thinking.

Midiman you got to be kidding. Do you actually believe we are all addicts. I think you posted this reply just to piss us all off. Have a nice day.

Midiman, mind sharing what other brands you say you have been using all these years? Are you an addict? Because you sound like you are nformed on the subject. Those of us on this thread are not addicts we are chronic pain sufferes who are in pain management. We don't get our drugs off the street. There is a difference in the generics and no it is NOT in our minds. Do your homework on the variances and how different generic companies have different binders and fillers that CAN affect different individuals before you post on here please. Thank you.

Oh my god! It kills me when ignorant, stupid people who make it known by what they post that they have no clue what theyre talking about.....Midiman.....its a KNOWN medical FACT not every manufacturer of the same drug all use the same formula..... instead of shooting off ur mouth, try zipping it n just keeping ur eyes open so u can research for urself how false u r. People like u are part of the problem. ..u take these meds that could potentially be dangerous, yet no nothing about what it is ur taking, WHAT ITS MADE OF, how it works n metabolizes in ur body, and the side effects and/or complaints from users.....ur an irresponsible drug user...n I say user cause all it seems u do is "use" the drug cause its obvious u know nothing about it....ur actavis. Because we have done our homework, doesnt make us addicts. ..its makes us responsible patients who share our knowledge and experiences with others to help keep one another informed n active in their pm plan....so go fly a kite! Well, go do some research, kick urself in the ass for telling us we dont know what we're talking about, then go fly a kite!

Hello,

Ay hes Midiman, we are all addicts. Do you have a good therapist you can recommend lol. I think we all noticed the difference in Actavis and Watson right away. My guess is that the Watson brand had a higher dose, was too strong and many people overdosed from it. I beleive I read where Actavis bought out all of Watson's litigation pending. I just know when I took the Actavis it gave little relief and many side effects. I wasn't willing to risk MY life to take this Acatvis pill. We called them and they were very concerned about their product. Whats the lot number? etc. You can take it Mid, go for it braugh. I do actually take Actavis xanax and it is fine, but I would never take their Percocet as I believe it to be a bad drug and dangerous. Thanks

Hello Midiman,

I have not posted for a while, but thought I would check in today. I hope everyone is getting at least some pain relief. My doctor tried to tell me that I was probably addicted. But I noticed after my spinal epidural, my pill consumption was down to half the amount. The only reason I continued to take them, is my shoulder still hurts with activity. If you are not in extreme pain, you can cut down. I feel that addiction comes when people are not in pain, and just want that euphoric feeling. The pain medication doesn't even work the same, for non-pain patients. Trust me, I doubt if anyone on this site is addicted! They all sound like chronic pain patients to me. I have another spinal epidural scheduled, for the end of the month and I can't wait. Do you think someone who just wants to be high, would risk death ect. to have something inserted in their spine? I think not my friend.

Hi Martin and all,

I hope everyone is feeling better. I'm still using the Mals, and they are still ok. The spinal epidurals work better though. I can't wait for the next one. The only thing is that you can only get 3 per year. Bummer! Hang in there all.

Hi jan....ive tried the shots in the back...didnt do a thing for me....the second one gave me a dumbing feeling for about half an hour but thats it. As for the euphoria feeling with pain pills...ive never had it nor do I care to get it. I assume that only comes with insufflating n injecting the pills from one who abuses it...I have yet to hear where someone who took their meds as prescribed n for legit pain gets a feeling of euphoria...anyway...im done addressing that fool below....

Midiman,

WOW. You really hit a nerve with us who suffer from real pain hourly. I don't feel the need to take up for myself, but will fill you in on my experience. I started pain management 11 yrs ago this year. My body is addicted to pain pills, but I don't and never have gotten high off pain pills. If anything they all make me sick. Just seems this brand of Percocet made me really sick. I just started searching for advice when a failed morhpine pump and spinal cord stimulator both had to be taken out. Both were to stop me from having to take pain meds by mouth and here I am back on them. I tried 5 different pain meds to get on one that worked and BY FAR Actavis Brand Percocet made me the sickest and not just the normal sick. It was terrible. There is something we are all having a bad reaction to dear. You need to visit a pain management doctor and just watch the people who try and get up and walk to the back. Shame on you for calling us drug addicts. The difference as my doctor says is one who takes for pain and one who takes to feel high. You body will get used to them, but thank God for them. I can walk because of them. At the point you with all your wisdom or any of my doctors can fix my issue will be the point I will be off the pain meds. I shall pray you never say this ignorant thoughtless crap to a loved one in chronic pain.

I agree with Jennifer, steroid injections did nothing for my pain. I kept telling the doc he was putting injection in wrong area but he insisted that the location of my pain is where the injection needed to be put. Well 3 injections later, no relief.... just frustration.

Midiman....here's how WE ALL KNOW YOU'RE NOT TELLING THE TRUTH: Actavis just come out in JANUARY. So, take your ignorant and judgmental thinking somewhere else. People with injuries, arthritis, frozen shoulder, back pain, aren't making it up and really need this medicine to live a decent life.

Pretty crazy when we look at our doctors for all the answers. Jezzzzz. Thanks for this share. I hope more people read this. It's a little long, but worth the time and full to the end of info we all need to know. Read it all if you start.

I understand your frustration however Watson merged with Actavis....go to watson.com ...........Guess you didn't know or whatever the case but you are getting the same medication as before. I'm not trying to sound rude but sometimes we as humans don't accept change very well. That being said I think it's in your head that it's no good.....Not trying to be funny but talk to your pharmacist because if he/she knows about the merge then they will tell you the same as I'm telling you......ASK THEM FOR ENDOCET...I like it pretty well and it helps me a lot

I have been taking Watson and malinkradodt percocets for 3 years and I just got a new script filled at Walgreens. Got home...took them as prescribed...Nada..zilch.. in fact I feel nauseated. I checked the label and low and behold .. Its got ACTAVIS not the usual Watson. Wth..I called the pharmacy....was told have a nice day. Wtf. So I look on the internet...what is thus actavis. So many many many BAD reviews including mine.

So I contact my pharmacies..they've ALL changed the Generics manufacturer for Percocets

Walgreens, Target, CVS changed to Actavis. Kroger that used to give me malinkradot now have Amneal which I also read was utter crap.

This is no coincidense ....we know the gov wants to crack down on opioids..and this is how they're doing it....but for those genuinely in pain...its s disaster!!!!

Now I think as long as the original formulas for percocet is not banned or altered..the market will eventually adjust...and fill the demand and supply percocets that work not duds. Maybe I'm way of base here...but every pharmacy switched to a NEW generic....and every new generic DOESNT work!!!

Theres more going on behind the scenes we don't know about. And its not a bad batch... complaints are from months ago.

Really hope I'm wrong..
